My conversation with Kay Sparling was truly unforgettable. Her personality is simply extraordinary. Transitioning from a long career as an opera singer to becoming an author was a significant shift for her, one that came with its challenges. Yet, she persevered and never lost hope. Kay shared that she faced numerous rejections when trying to get her book published, but rather than deterring her, those setbacks fueled her determination to push onward.
Kay Sparling is an international opera and sacred singer. Now retired, she lives in the Upper Midwest with her feline writing buddy, the invincible Paducah. When not teaching voice lessons or writing, Kay enjoys gardening, hiking, adventure travelling, and cooking for her family and friends.
Kay's novel "Mission Thaw" is a
captivating narrative that revolves around Kaitlyn Stewart, an American opera singer currently apprenticing at the Vienna State Opera. Unexpectedly, she finds herself enlisted by the CIA as a top-tier special agent. Her mission? To deeply infiltrate a human trafficking cartel run by corrupt Western businessmen, the KGB, and East German operatives, all while gathering critical intelligence. The harrowing experiences of the displaced refugees sparked my inspiration to craft this poignant tale.
