Sometimes companies stop producing room nights for an extended period of time and then hotels get annoyed and drop those clients. The truth is travel is variable for most companies. I've learned not to drop companies that aren't producing. We had one company this year that had only produced 5 or 6 room nights year to date. They reached out to me this weekend wanting 5 rooms from the middle of January through the end of April. Sometimes the accounts that seem useless end up surprising us the most.

I find that a lot of hoteliers and business owners are terrified to sacrifice rate and give horrible rate offers to their potential corporate clients. I find that we're often trained to worry so much about volume of room nights that we miss out on a lot of great deals with "hidden accounts," or companies that produce 5-10 rooms nights per month or even less. The simple truth is, most other hotels aren't willing to work with these types of companies so there's almost no competition for their business.
