Hear Me Now the Preaching Podcast goes on hiatus until October 2021
This is an encore presentation of episode 10, from March of this year, where Dr. Nixon first explained the rewards of learning to preach Bible doctrine in a Christ-centered way. Listen for the first time, if you missed it. Listen again, if you caught it, and be encouraged as you continue to grow and we continue to pursue biblical, Christ-centered preaching.
In this episode, Dr. Nixon continues his sermon on the spirituality of the law based on The Sermon on the Mount of Matthew 5. He looks more closely into some of the examples Jesus uses to explain God’s law on another level, leading to a better understanding of what it means to say God’s Law is spiritual.
In this episode, Dr. Nixon begins another doctrinal sermon for examination and interpretation in the light of Jesus Christ, which has been the focus for a several weeks – preaching Christ in the doctrine. Here, the doctrine being studied is the law. Based on the description of the law in Matthew 5, the key passage for this sermon, Jesus exposes the deeper meaning of God’s law beyond mere rules and regulations.
Dr. Nixon discusses “Hear Me Now Ministries”, which launched yesterday with a live event on the website, hearmenowministries.com., simulcast on the John Nixon Sr. Facebook page and You Tube Channel. He describes the purpose of this ministry and how it is poised to help build pastors and church leaders in the context of the times to make our pulpits stronger and make us better equipped spiritual leaders.
Dr. Nixon concludes his sermon on the Beatitudes of Matthew 5 ending with an outline you can adapt to your preaching needs. Along the way he discusses the Preaching Principle of “less is more”, which applies to this sermon in particular, but also, to biblical preaching in general. He ends the podcast with an exciting announcement about the Hear Me Now Ministries website.
Dr. Nixon responds to a specific request from a listener to write a sermon based on the Beatitudes of Matthew 5. He delves into these blessings Jesus pronounces on His disciples, then and now, as we go through the ups and downs of this life. They are God’s promises to bless us supremely in all circumstances.
In this episode, Dr. Nixon concludes his analysis of his own sermon based on Psalm 73, which he preached two weeks ago. This time he delves into the main point of the sermon regarding the character of God, which brought some objection from its original hearers. He critiques his interpretation on this topic of vital importance by comparing scripture with scripture.
In this episode Dr. Nixon analyzes one of his own sermons from Psalm 73, which he recently preached, to examine whether he was true to the biblical text. Using the Berean model of Acts 17, he addresses objections raised by listeners in the aftermath of the sermon, entitled “The Last Word.”
In this episode Dr. Nixon discusses the hear me now ministries website that is scheduled to open next month. He describes the overall purpose of the site and some of the things that will offered for ministers and for others, including panel discussions and online theology courses, among other things.
Technical difficulties with podcast 22, this is the replacement. In this episode Dr. Nixon concludes his sermon on the Doctrine of Stewardship with a particular focus on the believers’ relationship to their money. The fact that 16 of the 29 recorded parables of Jesus have to do with money, makes this a subject of great interest. This episode includes a further explanation of what we call “the spirituality of money.”
In this episode Dr. Nixon takes on the Doctrine of Stewardship with a particular focus on the believers’ relationship to their money. As a subject of great emphasis in the teachings of Jesus, there is much to be uncovered for our benefit and to bless others in our preaching and teaching ministries. In this sermon we are taken into the critical topic of the spirituality of money.
In this episode, Dr. Nixon completes his sermon on the Doctrine of the Bible as the Word of God. He takes his text through the final steps of the 5-step process and concludes with an outline of a new sermon. In the process of exegesis, he briefly engages the controversial topic of the nature of truth, as relative or absolute.
In this episode, Dr. Nixon begins a new sermon on the Doctrine of the Bible. He develops a passage from 2 Peter 1 to present the authenticity and authority of the Bible as God’s Word revealing, Christ as the theme from Genesis to Revelation. He also revisits an issue from a previous podcast to answer questions that have arisen concerning the church’s authority to discipline its members.
In this episode, Dr. Nixon concludes his sermon on the Doctrine of the Church as understood through Jesus Christ. Picking up where he left off last time, he undertakes to dissect the challenging and often challenged message of Matthew 16:19, where Jesus gives the keys to the kingdom of heaven and says to the church, “whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”
Dr. Nixon sneaks a short podcast in while on vacation sharing a few sacred poems. Next week he continues the series on the Doctrine of the Church concluding with an exegesis of Matthew 16:19. Buckle your seat belts for that one!
In this episode, Dr. Nixon continues his sermon on the Doctrine of the Church as understood through the teaching of Jesus Christ. Picking up where he left off last time, he takes the Matthew 16 passage to the next step of the 5-step process – treating the text. Along the way, he addresses the much-debated idea of “the rock” on which the Christian church is founded, as stated by Christ in verse 18.
In this episode, Dr. Nixon explores the meaning of the church as established by Jesus Christ. He looks into the founding of the church as an idea in the mind of Christ, its purpose in Him, and the meaning of concepts – that the church is “founded on the rock” and that it has been given “the keys to the kingdom of heaven.”
In this episode, Dr. Nixon completes the sermon on the Sabbath in Creation based on the account of Genesis 2. He goes back to the original Sabbath, instituted by God when the world was perfect, and exposes the ways in which it reveals the character of God and previews the Cross of Christ.
In this episode of Hear Me Now, the Preaching Podcast, Dr. Nixon continues with the theme, “Preaching Christ in the Doctrine.” He picks up the sermon on the Sabbath based on Matthew 12:1-8 and completes it. Then, he begins a second sermon on the Sabbath based on a passage from the Old Testament. It serves as a first-time opportunity to practice a topic that will be featured in a future episode, “Preaching Christ from the Old Testament.”
