Massive Attack dares to say something in a performance. What a beautiful thing. Surveillance via Flock cameras, Ring, AI, etc. is kinda spooky. Blob tracking, Andy Warhol, and Noah Dillon all have their hand in aestheticizing our spooky world.

In an age of endless content, perfected social feeds, stimulation at our fingertips and poorly evolved biology, it's easier than ever to be jealous. Or enraged. Or disaffected. You get the idea. Lady Gaga's Abracadabra could not have come at a better time. I've been thinking a lot about how what we consume and how we absorb it directly influences how we show up in our communities. So much of the heaviness of today's climate can feel paralyzing but this song is such a beacon of acknowledged hope. One of the greatest paradoxes as an artist is finding the will and way to sustain yourself all while keeping that dream alive. While I do think there's a place for manifestation and unbridled optimism when it comes to art, I see so many folks become discouraged or misguided by a belief that creation in itself will bring them immediate success. Holding a day job isn't about putting your art in the backseat, it's understanding that in order to create to your highest capacity, you have to take care of you first, especially in a generally hostile atmosphere monetarily speaking for the bulk of working artists in today's day and age. The Joshua Citarella interview of Matty Healy on the Doomscroll podcast was particularly delightful to someone who has long loved The 1975 and holds a position of resident doomer. This essay had me pondering quite a bit about who's allowed to create and enjoy art, afford basic securities, and how that relates to how we present ourselves digitally. Enjoy this little teaser and watch the full interview it is so lovely!

Magdalena Bay just put out their second album, Imaginal Disk following Mercurial World. These two are just starting to get some mainstream attention, but it's worth noting that they have been releasing music since 2016 and have consistently been fantastic. If you haven't completely succumbed to the magic of Addison Rae's Diet Pepsi, I guarantee you will soon. Same goes for the (in my opinion) underrated C,XOXO-- between I LUV IT, B.O.A.T, June Gloom, Godspeed, and Chanel No. 5, there are plenty of songs that have singlehandedly put Camila Cabello on the map for me. Remi Wolf is THE funk pop lord of our generation if I do say so myself. "Big Ideas" just came out and I cannot help but succumb to the power of Cinderella, Soup, Pitiful and the rest of it!
