Sometimes bands change personel because of creative differences. Sometimes it's because someone is no longer with us. This epsiode explores a variety of situations and circumstances surrounding this idea of bands replaceing members, all through the lens of CMAS students, and their sense of how this issue can impact a band and its fan base.
Too Much Of A Good Thing? Technology In Music: How does the use of technology impact how we respond to a piece of music?
What's it mean to be successful? Where's the line between hobby and career? Also how changes in technology and other elements impacted this issue over the years. Another great conversation with CMAS students from the CMAS studio control room.
This eipsode started with a reflection on the passing of Aretha Franklin and how she was so iconic and had literaly changed the musical landscpade, and how those kinds of "game changers" are so few now. But we quickly moved to the notion of how the industry itself, especially considering technology advancements (and dependancy) has meant that being a game changer is much less common, regardless of actual musical skills.
This epsiode was short since it was recorded during a lunch break, with a group of students all crammed into the CMAS control room, so it sounds a bit chaotic at times, but the conversation was great and it will clearly lead to a lot more.
