High school students create content using GarageBand that they share with elementary students using iPod devices. These devices are also used to create healthy habits via the Nike + iPod product. The implementation of a digital learning environment has increased the school’s enrollment, decreased discipline problems, and engaged students.

The students study the unseen world of the microscopic. They view creatures with a Proscope and then record the creature as a still picture or a video. These images are used in books created in iPhoto and movies created using iMovie. The Proscope can also be used via iChat to show creatures to students who are sick at home.

Kris Vassos, Technology Teacher at Mount Laurel Township School District in New Jersey, describes “Let's Go Global,” a cross-curricular global project. Students use Apple computers, iLife, and iWork to compare various aspects of different countries on different continents. Students use these applications to create movies, photo books, slideshows, websites, blogs, podcasts, digital music, and more. Students have the opportunity to multitask and be creative, mobile, and globally aware.

The sixth grade curriculum includes a unit on watershed and students are able to use the information, audio files, and photos that Elaine gathered during a trip to Peru. Students collaborate and use this data to create authentic projects. Several other projects the students create using iLife and iWork are explained.

Perry Lee, Social Studies Teacher, and Mary Palmer, English Teacher from Bismarck, North Dakota, explain their combined class documentary filmmaking project. The students learn about the history of wars, interview people who were in a war, and create a documentary film about them. iLIfe is used to share their stories. The connection with the community is the most valuable part of the project.
