Confessions of a Pastor’s Kid
A PK's journey with therapy

In this episode, I interview Sharon Kwon who grew up as a Pastor's kid in a Korean American church. She talks about reconciling with her Korean identity, growing up with strict religious parents, and finding her own faith. Sharon is now a therapist, working with immigrant families and people with religious trauma.

I hope you enjoy hearing our candid and fun conversation as two kindred hearts, about healing from our past as pastor's daughters.

Notable Quotes:

"with therapy, you're getting agency, it's more [about] empowering you, the client, to make these decisions, to take these actions, instead of...waiting for God to make things better".

Confessions of a Pastor’s Kid
My Deconstructing Faith story
Episode Timeline: [02:23] How I grew up [13:57] Why I’m starting this podcast [15:27] Definition of Deconstructing Faith [16:23] Definition of Decolonizing Faith Key Takeaways: -Growing up in church didn’t give me the choice to choose this faith. -Reading my bible and praying didn’t help me overcome post-partum depression. -I’m on a journey to own my faith or walk away. -It’s all about the journey, not the destination. Quotes: “If there was this god-shaped hole in me, then why wasn’t God filling it?” “I struggled to measure up to the expectations my parents had for me as the perfect christian girl.” References & Resources on Decontructing faith and Decolonizing faith: https://thedeconstructionnetwork.com/understanding-deconstruction/ On instagram follow @phildrysdale and @joluehmann
