I invited Jon Warner to discuss the state of the Nation's financial plans and general economics going forward from the lens of our Beloit Resort project. Cindy Tack's case before the Trial Court is explored and I listen as Jon explains his thoughts on maturing markets and financial plateauing.
I discuss how it is that our Legislature focuses so much time and energy on the revenue coming in from the Casinos and yet spends almost zero time and energy focused on how we spend those funds. Shouldn't the efficacy of dollars spent be almost, if not more important than incoming funds that the Legislature has zero control of?
I laud a couple of motions from Area Meetings that the Area Reps are moving forward on
Any comments, questions, or thoughts please feel free to email them to manikaksik@gmail.com
I just have a conversation with myself and I try to understand the Ho-Chunk definitions of "Good Money" and "Bad Money". Apparently there is a difference and I'm just not sure what the difference is. I laud our unofficial partnership with Diane Hendricks as we pursue the same goal, "A Better Beloit".
Though the Ho-Chunk Nation and Diane Hendricks are on opposites ends of the political spectrum, it's wonderful to see that as adults, we can put those differences aside and work for the common good.
Rummor has it that we are folding our Section 17 and replacing it with a Section 16. Good for us. Everybody was tired of that 12 Clans and I'm sure, happy to see it go.
Still, I would have liked to see it stay with new leadership, and not just Ho-Chunk or Waaksik leadership.
I congratulate the winners of our Legislative run-off election. I talk about the continued apathy of our electorate towards our election. And finally I talk about my new position as Mayor of Naive town and how I came to win this election
Lincoln Mark joins for a conversation where he shares his new job and explains some of his Tik Tok videos-We laud the Legislators who worked tirelessly for the Beloit Casino- We need a couple more weeks on the Zoning and Land Use ordinance in the 45 Day Comment period please-We have an election in a couple of days-If anyone has any questions, comments or suggestions, I can be reached at manikaksik@gmail.com
We talk about some unfulfilled expectations throughout history and then look at our Nation-Election coming up soon
I just ask why we continue to send elected members and appointed officials on junkets while after 25 years the General Council still doesn't have an Attorney- Legislator WhiteEagle has floated the idea for a Free Trade Zone for the Ho-Chunk Nation. I think it's a great idea, I don't think it will ever happen, but I think it's a great idea- I'm a big fan of grants, I just wish I knew more about them
I talk with Maria Haskins of Wisconsin Voters Conservation about her organization. I ask about how how they got the vote totals for Indigenous Nations of Wisconsin to rise so dramatically for the last election-I agree with President Greendeer on his push for higher education for our youth, our partnership with UW Madison and continuing education for adults. But then what? How do we keep our educated Ho-Chunks working in the 14 Counties?- We are a Great Nation, but government transparency would cement that claim-To contact Maria Haskins ( maria@conservationvoices.org)-to comment or ask questions about the podcast (manikaksik@gmail.com)
Cindy Tack files a court case in Trial Court that seeks to reverse action taken by the Legislature. it stems from GC resolution 09.21.2024 "A Resolution for Freedom of Speech with Open and Transparent Governance"
The President gave his inaugural State of the Ho-Chunk Nation address. It was pretty good.
Comp and class has been addressed once again and this time the Legislature works to help the Madison and Dells areas. Weird how it’s happening during election season. Any questions or comments can be directed to manikaksik@gmail.com
I talk to a couple of D-4 members because I don't know why they don't vote-Because of their answers I look at a couple of options on streamlining the voting process-SU 25-04 The Supreme Court reverses the Trial Court and upholds the Election Board's decision-April 15 at 6pm, the Inaugural State of the Ho-Chunk Nation

An interesting tool has fallen into our hands but it will be interesting to see who takes advantage of AI going forward.
With the pendulum swinging to the right, now is the time to begin preparing for when the pendulum begins swinging back to the left.
just a giant thank you to all those Elders who had the foresight to drag our Nation out of the woods and set the stage of the Ho-Chunk Nation
If anyone has any questions or comments, feel free to reach out to me at manikaksik@gmail.com I look forward to hearing from any and all of you
Conroy Greendeer joins me once again to clarify his position on a couple of topics he raised on his previous interview-Chairman Fowler of the St. Croix Band of Chippewa Indians delivers the State of the Tribes address to the Wisconsin Legislature-What do Ho-Chunks from District 4 want-any questions or suggestions, contact me at manikaksik@gmail.com
I talk about the recent spring primary and what a disaster for D-4 it turned out to be. I discuss Andi Jo Cloud's past interview and the relevance it holds for the Summer Election. Finally, I discuss how we have got to think outside the box when it concerns housing. E-mail me at manikaksik@gmail.com with questions and suggestions
I got to spend 30 minutes with Candidate Conroy Greendeer.
Unfortunately, the software beat me to pulp today so I had to delete two other sections today. I apologize, but please enjoy the interview
I discuss how we should put all of our differences aside and work to make this Beloit Casino a success. Jon Warner listens to me cry and I ask if we know where all the money is going. I wonder if the Legislative Candidates know what they’re signing up for, on top of the day to day, they will now have a $720,000,000 note hanging over their heads. You want to get a hold of me and discuss anything or schedule an appearance, my email is manikaksik@gmail.com
This is the candidates forum from 2/22/25 at the House of Wellness. The candidates who attended were Tim Hanson, Kyle WhiteEagle, Travis Cloud, Leah Walters, Conroy Greendeer, Bettina Walters, Angelina Hindsley, and Stephanie Begay
I open the podcast with the Serenity Prayer and how I feel it relates to the Nation and myself. Then I talk to Jon Warner about recent events concerning the Nation. Presidential Executive Orders signed and executed. I finally ask why do we even have rules concerning who runs in Legislative elections, why bother to get signatures when you can just jump in at the last minute as a write in candidate
I introduce a concept that I call a Tyranny of Dependence. I believe our Nation leans towards that. Andi Jo Cloud sits for an interview and discusses her upcoming campaign for D3 S2. She also discusses her Worak Editorials
We have two elections coming soon, a special for D-4 and a general for everybody else. Why do we have a Constitution if even our Judges don’t follow it?
After my computer crash, I had to get a new computer. This episode is simply me trying out the equipment and seeing where the bugs are. I’ll be working on getting rid of the gremlins and doing my homework. If anyone listens to this, thanks
The official groundbreaking for Ho-Chunk Gaming/ Resort and Hotel is finally here
