Catherine (Jennifer Lopez) must descend into the mind of a comatose serial killer, her task is to convince them to reveal the location of their latest victim who is in the process of drowning. Assisted by Agent Peter (Vince Vaughn) they must traverse the twisted realms of Carl's mind, confront his various personas and save the victim before she inevitably becomes another of Carl's play things.

A production company has decided that they want a live, half an hour, zombie film to be broadcast for an upcoming event. They bring on Higurashi to direct and soon he's thrust into a world of script problems, troubled actors and a production that does everything but go well. Behind the scenes his daughter Mao fawns over the male lead, his wife Harumi tries to come to terms with her role in the process and every actor/crew members tries to keep the script going.

This week Sam and I are finally moving away from the water themed movies with - Night Of The Living Dead (1968)
As Barbara and her brother Johnny go to visit their father's grave they're set upon but a shambling stranger. Managing to get away we find ourselves boarded up in an old farmhouse as hordes of the undead begin to swarm. Boards are pulled from windows, teeth gnash as they try to bite and the only thing holding them at bay...a gunshot to the head and the bright beams of car lights and fire.
So find a rifle in the closet, stare at a wall vacantly and try not to make any silly decisions as try to survive the - Night Of The Living Dead (1968)

We've all been invited her because one of us is a werewolf!
Tom has invited a group of strangers to his country manor so he can complete the greatest hunt of his life. This weekend is a full moon and one of his guests is a werewolf. His wife Caroline is terrified at the idea meanwhile the pianist Jan (Michael Gambon) is banned from playing in certain countries where people went missing. Arthur (Michael Gray) is in a similar situation while the artist Paul was imprisoned for eating human flesh. Davina looks after Jan as his lover and warns the group that Jan is sick and finally Professor Lundgren (Peter Cushing) has spent wis whole life studying the werewolf. Join us as we try to figure out who the monster is!

This holiday turned into a holi-horror
Michael and I are venturing back into the woods with - The Ritual (2017)
After the tragic events of a night out drinking a group of friends take a trip to Sweden where they'll hike the countryside. Luke has become quiet and keeps to himself, while Dom has grown confrontational - Phil stays to his own business and lastly there's Hutch whose keeping everything together. With a minor injury they decide to abandon the trail and cut through the forest. Soon they become lost and there's something else hiding between the trees. Plagued with waking nightmares the group must navigate their way through the woods to the other side, but not everyone is guaranteed to make it.
So walk it off it can't be that bad, keep northwest and don't look at it as we're forced to be part of - The Ritual (2017)

Young Victor (Johnny Depp) and Victoria are to wed, though they've never met. The marriage has been arranged by their families for their own personal goals; for Victor's parents it's to climb the social ladder, for Victoria's it's because they're broke. Being as nervous as he is Victor escapes into the woods to practice his vows where he inadvertently weds himself to the long dead remains of Emily (Helena Bonham Carter) whose bones lay hidden within the woods.

Hark! Shane joins me for a nautical treat with - The Lighthouse (2019)
When two men arrive on an island for their shift tending the lighthouse they have no idea to what extremes their sanity will be tested. Thomas Wake (Willam Dafoe) is a seasoned wickie with many shift under his belt but this time he's got a new assistant, as his last claimed the glow of the lighthouse was a God unto itself. This new assistant, Thomas Howard (Robert Paterson) left his previous job at a logging company for the chance at better pay. The pair don't seem to get along as the division of labour rests unbalanced and tempers begin to run hot.
So have a bit of lobster, wash it down with a cup of lamp oil and leave the local wildlife alone as we stare at the radiance of - The Lighthouse (2019)

Arkin is trying to make an honest living but when his partner tells him that there's loan sharks coming for her and their daughter he has to act fast. Reigniting his contacts within the criminal underbelly he sets up the heist of a local jeweler. He'll get in solo take the expensive rock, get out and they'll split the profit. There's only one problem...he's not the only one breaking into the jeweler's house tonight.
So catch yourself a spider, enjoy a cup of tea in a mermaid's cave and watch where you step as we issue ourselves to - The Collector (2009)

This week Bronwyn and I are tackling a fan request for somebody's favourite movie - Carrie (1976)
Carrie is a bit of a social recluse. Her mother's obsessive and oppressive religious beliefs cause her to see the world as nothing but sin. But after a particularly brutal bought of bullying she begins to discover that she can move things with her mind. At last she can pull away from her mother and has even been asked to the prom. As the night fast approaches it's clear that her bullies won't just let Carrie turn her back on them.
So sew a perfectly peachy dress, pray away the sins and give those bullies a sideways glance as we ask our favourite girl to the prom - Carrie (1976)

Sharks don't degrade with age, this may be the key to curing degenerative diseases for humanity. A crack team of scientists are working on extracting chemicals from shark brain matter which can then be transferred to people, curing them. Problem is that time is running out and without substantial results their research is to be shut down. One last test will be the difference between success and failure...but have the sharks got something else in mind?
So light yourself a cigarette, give the shark a hand and pull the plug on this whole operation as we dive into the - Deep Blue Sea (1999)

Gabriel (Christopher Walken) walks the earth, once again a rival to the Devil himself (Viggo Mortenson).

When the experimental ship the Event Horizon went missing testing a faster than light warp drive the public were told it exploded with no survivors, but this was not entirely true. Several years later the ship re-appears. Dr. William Weir (Sam Neil) is sent to advise a rescue crew on the recovery of the craft. Right from the get-go Captain Miller (Lawrence Fishburne) knows that there's more to the Event Horizon than anyone is telling them.

One rainy night she comes across a young woman shivering in the road, upon touching her she wakes back at the prison...only now she's a patient and he previous co-worker Pete (Robert Downy Jr.) is telling her it's been three days since the storm and not only that but she's responsible for the brutal murder of her husband!

I was curious about this movie but it wasn't until Javier suggested it for the podcast that I realized what a wild ride I was in for - Heretic (2024)
Two Moorman woman are sent to talk with a stranger about their budding interest in the faith. They're pleasantly surprised when they meet Mr. Reed (Hugh Grant) who seems like a very intelligent and open man. They exchange questions, talk faith and express their personal beliefs, all while waiting for Mr. Reed's wife to join them... that is until they realize the doors are locked and he's asking them to question the very concept of belief itself.
So linger on the smell of blueberry pie, wind the lights on and don't forget to 'Pass Go!' as we consider the arguments of a - Heretic (2024)

After centuries of servitude to his Master, Count Dracula (Nicolas Cage), Renfield (Nicolas Hoult) realizes that immortality means nothing if you've no one to share it with. With this revelation he decides that he wants a normal life and starts seeking help to pull apart from his toxic relationship to Dracula. On the way he becomes embroiled in a gang war where corrupt cops and city officials work with the mob to keep the status quo - there's one cop who refuses to be apart of this, Rebecca Quincy (Akwafina), but when the mob and Dracula meet it's only a matter of time before all hell breaks loose.

My parents have returned to assist with a cult classic - From Dusk Till Dawn (1996)
The Gecko brothers Richard (Quinton Tarantino) & Seth (George Clooney) are on their way to Mexico after robbing a bank and making a great escape. The police are onto them so there's no way across the border to their contact, they take a family of three hostage to help them cross and soon it looks like they're scot-free. All they have to do now is go to the Titty Twister bar and wait...take in some exotic dancing from Santanico (Salma Hayek) and get some drinks from the bar.

Continuing our aquatic adventures Sam and I take a look at - Jaws (1975)
On the small island town of Amity they rely solely on the revenue from tourist season in order to survive. Unfortunately, this summer, they've got a guest they didn't anticipate. When the remains of a young woman are washed ashore the Sheriff, Martin Brody, realizes there's a very real possibility they've got a man-eating shark. The town's Mayor refuses to give in until to a notion that could very well sink the town and so it isn't until there's a second incident that local fisherman, and shark hunter, Quint takes the job.
So go for a swim, learn your sea knots and chum the waters as we give a toothy grin to a massive pair of - Jaws (1975)

After Mark (Elijah Wood) loses his Mother he's sent to stay with his cousins while his Father finishes one last deal that will set them up for life. The family seems nice enough - Uncle Wallace is a caring man, Aunt Susan is a sweet woman, cousin Connie is a darling of a little girl and cousin Henry (Macauley Culkin) seems like a playful boy. Soon Mark starts to realize that Henry is more than just a rebellious kid... in fact he's a danger to them all!

It's the most beautiful colour I've ever seen but I can't quite describe it.

The Gardner's embrace life on a huge farm in rural America. For years they lived in the city but now is their chance for a relaxing change...that is until a strange meteorite lands on their front lawn. Now they hear a strange whistle, here and there a strange pink glow expands from the well and some of them are even losing track of time. Things get weirder and weirder as the days continue until suddenly everything is beautiful.
So be gentle as you milk the alpacas, listen close to the forest squire and grab your Necronomicon as we witness the indescribable - Color Out Of Space (2019)
