Listen to Part 2 of our discussion with the incredible: Head of School Mr John Player from “The Stanway School” that took the brave leap to participate in a Channel UK Documentary " Swiped: The School That Banned SmartPhones".
We are continuing to now see various heart breaking, concerning and worrying TV documentaries, TV programs or News highlighting the real adverse impact of our children being on-line due to the different inappropriate things children can easily access on line such as pornography, x-rated games, bulling on social media etc, unintentionally but due to the “algorithm” which is determined by the Tech Companies such as Tik-Tok, Facebook (meta), Youtube, Instagram etc.
The consequences are severe and alarming. Do we need thetech and social media companies to take more accountability? Or is it down to us as parents to take the initiative?
The more the children spend time online, the less time they have to develop their soft skills which are fundamental to their success both at home and school as they grow into adults.
The children of today are our tomorrow’s leaders and softskills are essential to effective leadership and success but somehow, we are allowing technology and AI to slowly and gradually diminish these essential skills.
We focus on the following for Part 2 in this episode:

EP 018: Does Internal Audit function add any value to a transformation project?
A conversational interview with a challenge to my views and perspective expressed in EP 12 where I mentioned that Internal Audit were one of the most difficult stakeholder groups and I have struggled to get value add from them whilst working on transformation project, yet there is opportunity for them to do so.
At the back of my expressed frustrations in EP 12, we have a serial "Internal Auditor" in this episode who has come to defend his profession and the value they add to the project.
We also discuss where the project team and Internal audit can combine forces to achieve the best out of the situation.
· However, it all comes down to the "culture in the organisation". Is this what’s to blame?
· Are the Organisations unknowingly putting their internal audit teams on the back foot?
· Do we get more value from the External Auditors?
Internal audit too are going through the change and have to be more engaged, involved to help them prepare for the go-live change initiative. This is all part of Change Management.

There is a difference between Leadership and Management which most people confuse.
Also the myth that leaders are born ….I don’t agree with this statement, you learn to be a leader but we all learn at our different pace depending on our ambitions, experiences and circumstances
Challenges
The biggest challenge I have in my role is where I have managers transition from a “Manager” role to a “Leader” role. These individuals are usually still confused or are not clear about what the 2 roles entail and what is expected of them. This is understandable, but you need to help yourself sooner than later hence I have recorded this episode to help make this transition easier for you.
Also with manager, the biggest challenge I continuously encountered and observed is actually them letting go of the “Managerial” day to day duties and switching their mind set to leadership activities.
It really takes them time to let go and learn to trust and delegate as a leader, after 1-2 years they start to get to grips with it. However, the transition can be very painful and so some it a decider whether they make it as a leader or failure as a leader but establish that they are better as Managers
