Join us as we discuss the book Virtuous by Nancy Wilson. It is a study for ladies of every age. This week we talked about the first two chapters What is Virtue? and Diligence.
What does it mean to be actively pursuing virtue? Every Christian is called to be diligently engaged in adding virtue to his/her life. A virtuous woman is a woman who exhibits godly character traits, to which must be consistent. Virtue must include a manly kind of courage. It is a blessing that God provides the necessary means for these virtues. We must first be prayerful in our pursuit of virtue and must keep God our central focus.
Diligence means working hard and putting care and effort into your work. Our work must glorify God for it not to be busy work. The Proverbs 31 woman is described as diligent and working willingly with her hands. Idleness is always a danger, and we must examine our lives and not give into it. All diligence must begin with spiritual diligence, as we must first cultivate a fruitful heart.
