Your favorite hoops podcast is back tonight with another banger! This summer is here so we’ll be going back to 2 episodes every Tuesday and Thursdays! Tonight we have a very special guest! We have a Brooklyn native tapping in to shine some light on his amazing hoops journey! This outstanding hooper played his high school basketball at the historic Christ The King High School in Queens, NY! Earning his stripes, this 6’5 athletic wing made a name for himself around the city as he regularly played above the rim putting immense pressure on the opposing defense! As a senior he was rewarded for his outstanding play by being named second team All-Queens in 2005! After an outstanding high school career this brother went on to garner a basketball scholarship to play at Quinnipiac University! Taking his collegiate career in a different direction, he decided to take his talents over to Jersey City, NJ and play at St. Peter’s University for the next three seasons. Averaging 10 points and 6 rebounds a game as a freshman he made an immediate impact to the squad! Ep. 89 - Featuring Otis Livingston II
Your favorite hoops podcast is back this week with another great conversation! We been in NYC the last couple weeks delivering much deserved flowers, however this week we’re jumping across the bridge and headed to Jersey to tap in with one of the Garden State’s very best! This outstanding hooper hails from Linden, NJ where he attended Linden High School and completely dominated the competition! As a junior, he helped lead the Tigers to a state title. Following that season up, as a senior he averaged 17 points, 7 assists, and 3 steals per game while racking up a ton of individual awards! This do it all guard earned the 2015 Home New Tribune Player of The Year while also being recognized as 1st Team All State, 1st Team All-Union County, and 2nd Team All Metro! Garnering a basketball scholarship to play in the Atlantic-10 at George Mason University, this talented guard went on to become one of the best players in school history! Hitting the ground running as a freshman, he led the team in scoring(11.9ppg), assists, and steals! For the next 4 seasons he would be the consummate leader and floor general for the George Mason Patriots! After a stellar collegiate career, this hooper has taken his talents to the international market where he’s become a professional and has played in Denmark, North-Macedonia, Serbia, and most recently signed his new deal to play in Germany! Being one of the lone standouts there, he was selected second team All-City in the PSAL by the New York Post! Coming off a great season, this outstanding hooper took his talents across the boro of Brooklyn and finished out his senior season playing for Tiny Morton at Lincoln High School where he would be an important piece to a championship team! Joining a team with Sebastian Telfair and Antonio PeƱa, he was the third piece to the puzzle in conquering that coveted championship at Madison Square Garden! Garnering a Division 1 scholarship to play in the tough Big East, this certified tough guard played 4 seasons at St. John’s University where he was the consummate floor general and leader of that team! A starter for most of his collegiate career, this brother was able to parlay that into a 14 year international professional basketball career playing in Slovakia, Czech Republic, Germany, and now currently Russia! Your favorite hoops podcast is back tonight with a very special episode! Tonight’s guest will be live in studio with us to chop it up about his basketball journey! Hailing from Brooklyn, NY this outstanding hooper played his high school basketball at Elmont Memorial High School in Elmont, NY where he emerged as a bucket getter! Staying in the city, he took his talents to Manhattan where he attended John Jay College! Wasting no time, this pure hooper put the CUNYAC(City University of New York Athletic Conference) on notice that he was here to give out WORK! In less than two full seasons this brother accomplished more than most hoopers achieve in a four year span! In just 51 games played he scored 1,162 points which was good for 22 points a game during his career, ranking him number 1 in CUNYAC history! As a senior he led his team in scoring with 26 points per game, notching a 42 point outburst against Frostburg State! The ultimate bucket but consummate team player, he also led his team in assist and rebounding! Currently living out here in Houston, TX, this basketball lifer continues to give back to his community and the youth by coaching the Houston Nets AAU program! We like to call those guys ā€˜basketball lifers’! A native of Lagos, Nigeria this outstanding hooper grew up in Brooklyn, NY where he attended Paul Robeson High School! An outstanding talent and double double machine, this brother averaged 19 points and 13 rebounds a game as a senior to lead his team to a national ranking of 18th in the country! Being named Player Of The Year in the PSAL his senior season he went on to garner a full basketball scholarship to attend and play for Hofstra University! Becoming an immediate contributor to the team, he was named CAA(Colonial Athletic Association) Rookie Of The Year after averaging 14 points and 8 rebounds a game! While starring at Hofstra, he was selected All-CAA second team as a sophomore and first team as a junior! Making a tough decision, he finished his collegiate career at Hartford University where he averaged 21 points and 13 rebounds a game and was also selected to the All-CAA first team! Going undrafted in 2006, this hooper spent time with the New York Knicks summer league team as well as playing preseason games with the Seattle SuperSonics! Taking his talents international, he spent over 10 years overseas playing in Israel, Turkey, Venezuela, Puerto Rico, and Mexico to name a few! Currently coaching the youth and giving back his knowledge and wisdom to the game, this brother continues to do legendary work as his solidifies his legendary career! There she completely dominated as she averaged 29.8 points per game and 11 rebounds as a freshman! Following that up with a 32 point, 14 rebound a game sophomore season she put the country on notice that she’s the real deal! Multiple 40 point games as a junior and a 50 ball as a senior solidified her as a 2008 McDonald’s All-American selection and Gatorade Mississippi Player Of The Year! After a stellar high school career, she went on to garner a Division 1 scholarship to attend Rutgers University to play for the legendary C. Vivian Stringer! Competing in the talented Big East conference, this hooper was a back to back All-Big East 2nd Team selection and finished her collegiate career as a 1,000 point scorer! To culminate an extraordinary career, she was selected 28th overall in the 2012 WNBA draft by the Los Angelos Sparks! After playing a season in LA, she went on to play professionally in Australia, Germany, Israel, and Mexico! After suffering a heartbreaking loss in his senior year to Erasmus High School in the PSAL Championship game, this basketball lifer garnered a 4 year basketball scholarship to play at Hofstra University for the great Jay Wright! While hooping at Hofstra he had an amazing career! He was selected back to back years(ā€˜99 & ā€˜00) to the All-American East second team however in his senior season he was American East Player Of The Year while also being selected to the conference’s first team! The train didn’t stop there as this brother went on to play a season in the NBA for the Indiana Pacers and the Chicago Bulls! Continuing to follow his passion for the game he went on to play 8 seasons overseas in Argentina, France, Germany, Poland, and Venezuela! After a stellar playing career, this brother went on to embark on a coaching career! Starting his coaching career overseas he came back to the states and was an assistant coach in the NBA G-League for the Erie Bayhawks and the Fort Wayne Mad Ants! This outstanding hooper played his high school basketball at Benjamin Cardozo High School for the legendary coach Ron Naclerio! While there he helped lead his team to the PSAL championship game his junior year to face off against the Lincoln Railsplitters in Madison Square Garden! Suffering a tough loss, he bounced back the next season and as a senior was named to the All-Queens team by the New York Daily News! Continuing to follow his passion for the game he went on to walk on at DePaul University where he played under the great Jerry Wainwright! Suffering a tough knee injury, this hooper had to pivot and start pursuing the second phase of his basketball career! After graduating in 2009, he went on to Co-found High Rise Basketball which is a player development program that conducts camps, clinics, and training programs! Aside from being a player development coach, this basketball lifer has been on the sidelines coaching some of the best ball players in the world! He was a Special Assistant at Manhattan College , Head Boys Varsity Coach at St. Luke’s School in Connecticut, Team and Recruit Analyst for Indiana University, and currently Assistant Coach at Northern Illinois University. I remember walking into a small gym in Waterbury, CT in September of 2005. I look over to the far court and see this athletic freak grabbing every rebound and tap dunking ever offensive rebound! Come to find out this freak of nature would be my teammate for the next year and a half! This outstanding hooper brings his roots from Nigeria but was raised in Uniondale, NY. As an early hooper playing against the Long Island competition, this high flyer quickly made a name for himself by bringing energy, enthusiasm, and DUNKING everything! While hooping at Uniondale High School, his name started to ring bells around the city! After a stellar high school career, this 6’6 stud garnered a D2 scholarship to play at Post University in Waterbury, CT! Stepping on the campus of Post University in the fall of 2004 the CACC(Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference) was put on notice quickly that Post University added an athletic, above the rim player that is an exceptional rebounder! While at Post, this brother went on to garner 2 All-CACC selections, scored 1,000 points and his game just continued to grow! After completing his collegiate career he went on to play professionally in Saudi-Arabia, Mexico, Peru, and Argentina! This ā€˜baby battleship’ competed against the likes of Derrick Caracter, Andrew Bynum, and Gerald Henderson! After becoming a 4 year letter winner in high school, he went on to garner a 4 year scholarship to play Division 2 basketball in Waterbury, CT at Post University! The consummate team player and floor general, this sneaky athletic point guard was a huge contributor to laying the foundation and culture for Post University basketball in the mid 2000s. His leadership and basketball IQ helped put the Eagles in a position to go unbeaten at home during his sophomore season! A great player, an even greater person! Before taking his talents to prep school and shining at Notre Dame Prep for a season, this hooper earned respect throughout the basketball world by competing and winning ā€˜Nike Battlegrounds’ which aired on MTV! After averaging 19 points, 4 assists, and 4 steals at Notre Dame Prep he went on to earn a full basketball scholarship to attend Fairleigh Dickinson University! As a freshmen he made a name for himself with a breakout performance against the University of Maryland where he scored 17 points, handed out 6 assists, and grabbed 3 rebounds earning NEC Rookie Of The Week! He went on to be the starting point guard for FDU for the next 2 seasons and was the consummate leader of the team! Continuing to play the game he loves, he also played for the South Jamaica Kings in the highly competitive ā€˜The Basketball Tournament’. Growing up in a hot bed of talent, this brother competed against the likes of DMV greats such as Dante Cunningham, Sam Young, and Michael Beasley! While attending Douglass HS in Maryland he made a name for himself as an aggressive low post player, who could really face the basket and shoot it! Developing into a standout high school player and averaging 10 points and 8 rebounds as a senior, this brother went on to garner a Division 2 scholarship to play basketball at Post University in Waterbury, CT! Coming in with a very highly touted freshman class, he was a consummate leader on and off the floor! As a sophomore he helped lead Post University to a perfect 13-0 record at home! After a collegiate career that was struck with several injuries, this brother went on to graduate at the top of his class and is now spreading his wealth of knowledge for the game with the younger generation as he is the assistant coach for boys and girls varsity basketball for Northpointe Christian School in Southaven, MS. Starting off the new month with a jam packed week! Two great episodes this week so make sure you tap in! Tonight we have a Queens great joining us that absolutely deserves his flowers! This outstanding hooper had the opportunity to play for two legendary coaches in the NYC area(Maurice Hicks and Ron Naclerio) as he attended Rice High School and graduated from Cardozo High School! He was the consummate floor general and an absolute pest on defense as he completed the backcourt for the Judges in the 2005 season! After having a stellar high school basketball career he went on to garner a full basketball scholarship to attend Stony Brook University! As a Seawolve, he played in all 28 games as a freshman, quickly earning trust from his teammates and coaching staff! By the time he was senior this tough guard was the co-captain of his team and a full time starter! Authenticity and real stories depicting real journey’s is what this show is all about! We’ve moved around the country a bit but we’re making a stop in Maryland this week to tap in with one of the DMV’s most talented players! This outstanding hooper played his high school basketball at Benjamin Franklin HS in Baltimore, Maryland! Making a name for himself with his athleticism and extreme shooting ability, this sharp shooter obtained a basketball scholarship to attend and play at Post University in Waterbury, CT! Adversity quickly crept in as he was demoted to play on the team’s JV squad! Facing this challenge head on, he shined and showed he belonged on the big stage! Early on he was an extreme spark off the bench as the 6th man for the Eagles his freshmen season! He led the team shooting 37% from 3 averaging 8 pts and 4 rebounds per game! As a junior he became a full time starter and one of the leaders of the team! Upping his scoring output to 15 points per game, this killer had his coming out party going for 42 points in a win over Felician University! Being recognized as an All-CACC honorable mention member, he finished his collegiate career scoring 1,315 points going down as one of the special talents to come out of Post University!
