A remark calling us to embrace the complexity and nuanced variety of one's identity.
Poem:
Who am I and what does it mean to be "I"
“I”dentity.
I identify, to simplify – the complexity of me.
I am black. I am white. I am blue. I am green.
One hue enough to describe my variety.
Yet again,
Every color comes with shades,
Every shade with depth.
Deepening our understanding of “I”.
Displaying an accurate portrayal of “me”.
More than just green or blue
I am light green blended with dark blue.
Purple combined with pink.
Transcending beyond mere monochrome.
Highlighting progressions in different regions (South East Asia, Sub-Saharan Africa, Latin America) and how they could possibly be leading to the rise of various nations within these regions from negative labels.
Dzimba dza mabwe,
We are the house of stones.
Shaped by history through great kingdoms
Mutapa, Rozvi, Mthwakazi.
Reclaiming our conquest as kings and queens,
We are indestructible.
Brick by brick we reconstruct and redefine our Great Zimbabwe.
Repossessing Our Great Nation in its ethnic diversity.
Tomorrow is brighter than yesterday.
Let us rise up.
Safeguard our sovereignty,
Ensure territorial integrity,
And with self determination maintain our liberation,
On this journey to a Greater Zimbabwe.
