3 Syllables Episode 1
Release Date: 15th August, 2025.
Original Recording & Editing Completed: 15th August, 2025.
Episode Status: Published.
I recorded this with what I had on hand: my spoiled iPhone 7 and Oriamo BoomPlay Headphones. They are old, the sound is not clean, and you will notice it. This audio will be re-uploaded on Monday with better quality, but the message was too urgent to wait. Please listen anyway. The words are the point; the message is heavier than the mix.
This episode leans on Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s story “The American Embassy,” from The Thing Around Your Neck. A woman stands in a line built from grief and bureaucracy. “She stood in line outside the American embassy in Lagos, staring straight ahead.” The world keeps moving while her world has stopped. People around her chatter, bargain, look away. She is asked to perform her pain for a stamp, to let strangers weigh her suffering against their rules.
There is a sentence in that story that cuts: “It was not courage, it was simply exaggerated selfishness.” I think about how often our heroes are celebrated while the people closest to them pay the price. I think about how quickly crowds step back when the night gets cold. I think about how you still have to walk forward despite being way behind.
This is an episode about being left to carry the heavy thing by yourself, and the choice to keep going. It was supposed to premiere on Monday, 18th August, 2025. But,I am releasing it today, on Friday 15th August, 2025 so you can sit with it, argue with it, pray with it, and arrive at Monday with steadier feet.
Our intimate launch gathering is planned for Thursday 21st August 2025 in Lusaka, private and only for people from Chipata Compound - listen and you will know why.
If you hear the hiss, forgive it. If you hear my heart, hold it. When people try to bend your life out of shape, remember who is holding the measuring line. God sees. Karma remembers. Take this as a threat and a promise.
3 Syllables Bonus Episode 3
Release Date: 11th August, 2025.
Original Recording & Editing Completed: 11th August, 2025.
Episode Status: Published.
Bumpy: Razor Bumps and Severe Skin — the final bonus episode before Three Syllables officially premieres.
Getting here has been a bumpy road in every single sense. For nearly a year, I lived with severe razor bumps and a skin infection that not only marked my body, but altered the way people saw me. Friends I’d known for years looked away. Strangers made silent judgments. And I began to feel like my skin was telling a story I didn’t write.
In this deeply personal episode, I share what it’s like to carry something visible that invites cruelty, how I found a way to heal both my skin and my self-worth, and why I had to cut some people off just to make it here. It’s about resilience, self-protection, and the strange gifts hardship leaves behind.
This is the last stop before we begin the journey proper. Bring your bumps, your scars, your histories - visible or hidden.
Episode 1 of Three Syllables premieres on the 18th of August 2025, with new episodes dropping every third Monday.

3 Syllables Bonus Episode 1
Release Date: 31st July, 2025.
Original Recording & Editing Completed On: 30th April, 2024.
Episode Status: Unpublished | Pitch Rejected.
Some stories arrive before their time. Others wait patiently, quietly enduring the silence of unanswered pitches and unopened doors. This one, perhaps, is both.
“If We’re Gonna Heal, Let It Be Glorious” was born from rupture, reflection, and a quiet, persistent hope. It was recorded in April of 2024 and produced during a season that demanded vulnerability of me in ways I was scarcely prepared for. Though originally created for an external platform and ultimately declined, it never lost its pulse. It remained unfinished in recognition, but complete in spirit.
And now, it finds a home here.
This bonus episode is not just a standalone story. It is a window into the soul of Three Syllables. It carries the essence of what this podcast dares to become: emotionally rich, layered with meaning, generous in silence, and textured by truth. While it does not dictate the form that every episode will follow, it offers a clear glimpse into the emotional and artistic terrain the series intends to explore.
It is deeply personal. And I share it with you now in trust. This is not for virality, but for witness. You are among the first to hear it.
Today is the 31st of July, 2025, 18 days before the official launch of Season One, which premieres on the 18th of August. So please consider this a soft unveiling, a quiet moment extended your way as a listener, and an intimate preview of what is to come.
Thank you for listening.
Thank you for holding it carefully.
With sincere appreciation,
kjsb.
