A little behind the curtain look at the conversation Leanne, Nick and I have during the ad break.
Our first couple on the Wake N' Make podcast! Leanne and Nick are a huge influence on me personally as well as the whole leather community. Nick and Leanne discuss trying their hat in the hat market. Pun intended. We discuss how the new generation is eager to share their knowledge compared to generations in the past, and how that relates to growing up with the internet. Leanne and Nick talk about how sharing the process of how they make their bags hit both the consumer market, and the maker community. Nick and Leanne encourage me to push my personal style and how that will play a part in my branding. We discuss how Leanne and Nick are able to run a full time home business while keeping up with a toddler.
We talk about our love of talking leather, and how others don't understand what we are talking about when we talk about leather.
We catch up with my friend and yours, Steve Johnson. We talk about how things have changed since Steve started, to where we are today. Steve and I discuss what it's like talking leather, with people that don't live that leather nerd life style. We talk about how we hold ourselves to a high standers, that our client base will never know. Steve tells us about our plans the beginning of his van life journey. We talk about how to reach out to companies to ask for sponsorships. And of course we talking about marketing as makers. Because it wouldn't be a podcast if we didn't. DUH!!!
I have to do a little head tuck. We talk about how important it is to appeal to the hobby side of our crafts.
Grant explains how he started by making Pinterest projects for his wife, to taking large orders for dinning room tables. We discuss how Grant changed his craft with the seasons. Wood in the winter, and leather in the summer. Grant just finished school, works a full time job, is a husband and father and still makes time to work on his crafts. We discuss how we use our crafts and a release for mental heath. We also dip out toes into conversation of current events. I'm grateful for the time I get to spend with my friends, and Grant is a good friend of mine.
