Key clues include "heartbeat" signals sent to a satellite, pinpointing the possible crash zone along a "seventh arc," and debris washing ashore thousands of miles away, which helped oceanographers narrow the likely location. The experience of searching for Air France flight 447 highlighted the challenges of deep-water searches, even with initial debris and a known crash site, offering crucial lessons for the MH370 effort.
