S2 #8: Digital Identity with John Phillips

A deep and relevant conversation with our podcast guest John Phillips, an expert in Digital Trust frameworks. John shares his expertise in digital trust technologies and how it provides opportunities for radically improving digital trust for people, organisations, and things at a personal, social and global scale. We also conversed about digital identity and its impact to industry and enterprise.

ABOUT JOHN PHILLIPS

John Phillips is an expert in Digital Trust frameworks (including Self-Sovereign Identity), is a co-founder of Sezoo, and leads the 460degrees Ventures, Emerging Technology and Education practices.

John believes that open-standard digital trust technologies such as verifiable credentials and decentralised identifiers provide an opportunity for radically improving digital trust for people, organisations, and things at a personal, social and global scale. He sees the application of these technologies as a disruptive force for improvement, and wants to be a catalyst for that change, helping people and organisations navigate their way to a better future.

Focused on Digital Trust initiatives since 2017, John was one of the global authors invited to contribute to the "Self-Sovereign Identity Decentralized digital identity and verifiable credentials" book, and wrote the chapter on explaining the value of SSI to business.

Since co-founding Sezoo in 2021, John has worked with the Sezoo team on digital trust projects with Australian Federal and State governments, major financial institutions and scheme operators, and medical data research organisations.

CEO of Vertical Leadership Consulting, Dr. Becky Andree is our podcast guest for our episode called Leadership & the Role of High Quality Connections. We had an insightful conversation that revolved around leadership, perspectives, complexity of thinking - how it impacts the way in which we connect with other humans, and so much more.

ABOUT DR. BECKY ANDREE

Dr. Becky Andree is CEO of Vertical Leadership Consulting, designing thinking and connection solutions that activate untapped potential while training leaders' brains to thrive in a complex world.  VLC specifically targets two root causes – missing high-quality connections that create life-giving experiences for all and capacity for complexity of thinking for individual leaders and the collective organisation. S2 #2: "Human" Future of Work with Mykel Dixon

In this inspiring podcast filled with fun, music and insights, our guest episode Mykel Dixon, enlightens us as he speaks about creativity, building connection deeply with oneself, and preparing ourselves for the “wow of work”. This is truly an unforgettable and energetic conversation you don't want to miss.

“I'm not necessarily talking about the future of work, we're talking about the now of work because everything that we've been anticipating, expecting and hoping might happen has arrived. And why stop with the now of work when we can talk about the wow of work.”

ABOUT THE GUEST

Mykel Dixon helps fortune 500 and ASX 200 listed companies develop high-performance creative leaders and cultivate innovative, inclusive & interdependent teams.

A jazz musician by trade, gypsy by nature, fierce non-conformist and prolific anti-perfectionist. Myke leads a new wave of conscious, creative business leaders who work to make work more like play, teams more like communities, and organisations more like festivals of possibility.

Speaking globally to a stellar cast of the world’s most successful brands, Mykel gets to see first-hand what stops us making magic at work. This hurts his squishy widdle heart so he’s made it his mission to liberate the innate and infinite potential of people working 9 to 5 (or 7 to 7).

Mykel’s intent for every presentation or program is that every attendee leaves feeling more connected to their creativity, more confident to express their unique perspective, and more committed to being a force for good at work (and in life).

Named Australia’s Breakthrough Speaker of The Year (by the professional speakers association) and revered among his peers for his ability to rewrite the rules, Myke is regularly used as the ‘X-factor’ moment for any conference or event. Shifting and lifting the energy of a room from passive consumers of content to proactive co-creators of the experience.

His second book 'Everyday Creative – a dangerous guide to making magic at work' was just named the #1 Leadership Book in Australia for 2021 at the Australian Business Book Awards.

He is undeniably knowledgeable, charismatic and clever in regards to creativity, team dynamics and organisational success; yet he remains refreshingly accessible, authentic and safe for people to explore, take risks and have a go – a recipe for every kind of breakthrough.

She also chatted about StageSHIFT, how it's different from other people's or theorists models and how it is being applied by leadership consultants and coaches.

What's NXT
Leadership and AI with Carl Sanders-Edwards

Join Pete and Dave in this podcast episode as they chat with Carl Sanders - Edwards, CEO and Founder of Adeption, about Scaling, Vertical Development, and AI. Carl is driven to make Leadership Development that works vastly more accessible and he has over 20 years experience doing this with global organisations and start-ups. Know more about Adeption and how they build leaders with more capability and capacity through a blend of synchronous and asynchronous coaching embedding the vertical principles of perspective, heat, and reflection.

About Carl Sanders-Edwards

Carl wants to democratize leadership development.  He brings a unique perspective to this challenge with experience from manufacturing, software development, leadership and innovation.

Carl has a Manufacturing Engineering undergraduate degree and started his career working with continuous improvement teams in Toyota and Fisher & Paykel (white ware manufacturer).  Following this he spent five years with Accenture leading teams that developed software, business process and strategy solutions for a wide range of organizations in New Zealand, Australia and Canada.

Moving to the UK, he developed the management systems that enabled start-up RightMove.co.uk to grow from no revenue to a US billion dollar IPO within three years.  Inspired by technology, on returning to New Zealand, Carl co-founded, grew and sold New Zealand’s largest online gift store (at the time); browniepoints.co.nz.

Carl has since brought together principles of lean manufacturing and agile software development to assist 100’s of organizations from startups to multinationals.  He has helped them define their identity, develop strategies, coach leaders and deliver projects to improve performance.  Through these engagements Carl recognized a common theme – successful organizations need people with continually improving leadership skills at every level.  A particularly influential experience was creating a learning and development strategy for an investment company in the Middle East who wanted to develop its own CEO’s rather than hire externals.

Unsatisfied with the existing leadership development offerings Carl founded JumpShift.co.nz in New Zealand.  From this base Carl has founded the technology platform Adeption.io, now based in San Francisco to deliver scalable Leadership Development coaching.  Adeption.io leverages AI with an engaging app, micro learning and behavior change theory to take leadership development from classroom theory into a daily practice.

Carl has a Fulbright Scholarship in Entrepreneurship with an MBA from Babson College in Mass US where he graduated with various awards and publications including class Valedictorian.

About Dr. Theo Dawson

I'm the CEO of Lectica®, Inc., a nonprofit dedicated to helping the world think better by producing and distributing sophisticated learning tools that support the kind of learning that matters. https://lecticalive.org

Our non-profit mission is to deliver our learning tools free of charge to individual K-12 teachers everywhere. We support this mission through donations and our for-profit arm, the Developmental Testing Service (DTS). All of the profits from DTS are donated to Lectica.

Lectica makes diagnostic and formative learning tools for schools, colleges, and the workplace.
