Exit the Social Media Rat Race/Do Social Media Like a God

"Social media is a comedy for those who think and a tragedy for those who feel." - Rodney

Think of this episode as ‘A god’s guide to social media' -- social media literacy but from the POV of a god. Basically, Rodney believes that to be a god is to extract value out of neutral experiences and things. Social media is no exception. He has been on social media for over 2 decades, and in that time, he has figured out how to act authentically and strategically online. He describes his experience as "being on social media but not of it". He credits critical thinking, emotional intelligence, self-knowledge, and a rich personal life for his seamless social media experience.

In this episode, Rodney shares his blueprint for enjoying social media and adapting it to your life without getting lost in the sauce. The idea is simple: Social media should be an extension of you – your human experience. Not a replacement, not a distraction, not a coping mechanism. Listen, enjoy, and learn how to exit the social media rat race so that you can do social media your way!

The Young God: The Podcast
Two Minds > One: The Trick to Thinking WITH AI

"AI is best used as a tool, not a crutch— not the beginning and end of your thinking process. AI should be an extension of your human experience. Not a replacement, not a distraction, not a coping mechanism." - Rodney

Rodney continues his exploration of psychological mastery-- this time, focusing on artificial intelligence (AI). After an MIT study revealed that over-reliance on ChatGPT was making people cognitively dependent (whereby a person outsources their thinking to external sources like AI), Rodney goes on a deep dive into the unintended consequences of LLMs and generative AI on our thinking ability -- so much so that he rebranded the AI acronym from Artificial Intelligence to "Amplified Ignorance" (bars).

In this episode, Rodney tries to understand why people are so quick to avoid using their brains. Then he shares the sweet spot of using AI -- the ideal relationship, as well as his workflow and best-case scenarios. He also took the opportunity to draw the ultimate line between AI artists and traditional artists. He even tapped Hip Hop legend Nas to back up his point of view. Throughout the episode, Rodney makes it clear that he's not anti-AI. He's simply showing that AI is best used as a second mind. Not a replacement for the main mind. Two minds are better than one, innit? Listen and enjoy.

The Young God: The Podcast
Thinking [For Yourself] is a SUPERPOWER
  • "Three things about humans – we think, talk, and do. Talking and doing are easy... But you see thinking? That’s where the line is drawn between gods and mere mortals... They say, “great minds think alike”. I disagree. Great minds think. Period. " - Rodney

In this episode, Rodney shares his thoughts about thinking. He thinks that half of our problems stem from being unable to think for ourselves, by ourselves. He also thinks real thinkers are a dying breed -- and he blames our education system because it is set up to teach us WHAT to think, not HOW to think. From that point forward, Rodney unpacks the levels to thinking, the difference between a freethinker and an independent thinker, what makes a beautiful mind, over-reliance on logic, and the dream of getting paid for the quality of your thoughts. He gets especially critical about critical thinking -- the ultimate thinking ability.

Rodney, as always, gets personal about his journey -- reminiscing about his high school and university days and how they shaped his thinking ability, as well as the challenges he faced as a freethinker himself. In his unique way, Rodney waxes lyrical about the gift of thinking and why we should never take it for granted.

Art of the Alter Ego: A Path to Creating a Self You Can Love

"Imagine being able to instantly manifest and become the version of you you need to be to do what needs to be done and get what you want in that moment." - Rodney

Rodney concludes his 'ego' trilogy with an exploration of the alter ego -- a mental version of oneself, possessing all the characteristics your primary self desires or aspires to have -- the version of you that your current self is too scared to become. When you need them, you let them take over, until they eventually become you. Rodney calls it "strategic self-delusion". The idea is that sometimes we exist in environments that make it difficult to be authentic. Creating an alter ego can help us mentally overcome our internal and external limitations.

This episode explores the potential of the alter ego as a powerful tool for personal growth and psychological mastery. Rodney argues that strategically crafting an alter ego can help individuals overcome limitations, achieve goals, and ultimately, become the best version of themselves. He uses personal anecdotes, pop culture references, and psychological theories to illustrate his points, creating a compelling narrative about self-reinvention and empowerment.

This episode is your invitation to engage your imagination -- to participate in the most potent act of God – creating oneself. It offers a unique perspective on self-development, encouraging listeners to explore the potential of the alter ego as a tool for personal transformation. Rodney's passionate delivery and personal anecdotes make the concepts relatable and engaging. The actionable steps provided for creating and utilizing an alter ego empower listeners to actively participate in their own self-reinvention. As you listen, reflect on your own limitations and desires, and consider how the strategic use of an alter ego could help you become the version of you you actually like.

E.G.O: When God Enters the Equation

"Learning to let God lead in my creative endeavors is why I stay prolific, brilliant, and healthy in all my creative endeavors. Especially this podcast. Experts call this negative capability..." - Rodney

Rodney continues his exploration of the ego... This time, he muses about the ego's influence on spirituality, creativity, suffering, and intuition. He brings God into the equation, showing how one's relationship with their ego is a reflection of their relationship with God. He coined two clever acronyms to illustrate his point.

He also shines a light on the menace of social media pop psychology and its contribution to people's misunderstanding of themselves and the ego. According to Rodney, pop psychology is why most modern people have a hard time making the most of their suffering. Rodney also goes into some detail about how to regulate and integrate the ego for a more fluid life experience. He names Emotional intelligence, Wisdom and, The Grace of God as the tools for regulating the ego and wielding it with finesse. He even opens up about his ego relationship -- how he met it, tamed it, and integrated it to become the god he is. This episode is highly recommended if you want to achieve psychological mastery.

The Main Character and the Mastered Ego

" So you think you're the main character... What's the main character without character development? And character development begins with the ego." - Rodney

Rodney turns his unflinching gaze to the ego -- one of the most misunderstood concepts in psychology -- and the role it plays in the psyche of the main character. Apparently, not all egos are made equal. Some egos are more developed than others. In this episode, Rodney breaks down the levels in some detail. He also challenges the idea that the ego is something to be killed. He suggests a different, more wholesome and ethical approach -- mastery. According to Rodney, the ego can be mastered. It can be made into an ally. That's when the true main character emerges. But first, it must be understood. This episode is your opportunity to understand.

Rodney goes to the places your favorite social media therapists could never, to ignite your curiosity and get you thinking about yourself and your psychology a little deeper -- to see what psychological mastery looks like, so that you can visualize what the best version of yourself could be... and become it. Listen as Rodney shows you how to make your ego work FOR you and WITH you.

Small Talk, Big Impact: A Conversation about Communication With Keme and Didi

"Small talk -- there is an art and skill to it. It is foreplay for bigger conversations." - Rodney

In this special episode, Rodney is joined by two brilliant young people -- Keme and Didi. Together, they explored small talk and its importance in social interactions. Keme doesn't care for small talk. Didi hates small talk. Rodney values small talk. Each speaker brings a different perspective on small talk and the role it plays in their lives. They explored what counts as small talk and 'big' talk, the pros and cons of small talk, and the skill that goes into being an effective small talker.

The conversation began with a question: "Is it a necessary skill in building relationships, or is it unnecessary and annoying?" In the end, they each arrived at an understanding about the best way to utilize small talk in everyday life.

The Danger of an Untold Story: Are You the Victim, Villain or Victor?

"Telling your story is the secret to survival." - Rodney.

Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie once spoke about the danger of a single story, but what about the danger of an untold story? Rodney makes the case that knowing and telling your story is an underrated survival tactic. He explores a variety of angles to show the true power of our personal stories and history.

Rodney also tells the origin story behind his 'main character' syndrome, while threading the needle of his past experiences and present personality. This episode is about the story we tell ourselves about ourselves, the story we choose to tell others, and how it can make or break us.

To F*ck Around Is Human, To Find Out is Divine

"The more you fuck around, the more you’ll find out. If you never fuck around, you will never find out. That's wisdom." - Rodney

Fuck around and find out (FAFO) is a phrase that is both a threat and an invitation to be courageously curious. In this episode, Rodney explores the 'curiosity' context of the phrase in all kinds of ways: scientifically, artistically, philosophically, and spiritually. He makes the case for FAFO as one of the secrets to an elevated life experience. He even introduces the FAFO scale (from 1-14) to illustrate the levels to curiosity that different people exhibit. Through FAFO, he segues into 'The Art of Noticing', a complimentary concept that is the perfection of FAFO. Listen to see how deep FAFO goes beyond the slang and the memes. This episode is an invitation to f*ck around and find out -- to make decisions out of curiosity rather than fear. Will you accept?

F*ck You, Money/Making a Deal with the Devil

“How much is money? No, really. How much is money that you would sell your soul for it?” - Rodney

The previous episode was about having Fuck You money. This episode is about telling money “fuck you” and releasing its grip on your heart, mind and soul. In this episode, Rodney tries to rationalize why we give money so much mind. So much so that we put it above more important things -- to the point of selling our souls!

Listen to Rodney uses a story to illustrate how easy it is for one to sell their soul, and how a deal with the devil takes place. He also gives his take on $500,000 vs dinner with Jay-Z, Nigerians' worship of money, and more. He even shares an uncommon perspective on Nigerian's obsession with spraying money. Rodney takes no prisoners!

This episode goes to great lengths to reveal to you a side of money you may have never considered, so that by the time you’re done, you can redefine your relationship with money, and confidently say “fuck you, money”.

'F*ck You Money'/The Richest Man in the Room

"F*ck you money-- it all starts with that raw "f*ck you" attitude towards everything." - Rodney

Rodney calls himself a conscious capitalist -- meaning he practices a style of capitalism that is elegant and ethical, whereby he is conscious about making money without making money everything. He brings this mindset to the concept of Fuck You Money -- having so much money, you can do whatever the fuck you want. Money that stops nonsense. Wouldn’t that be nice?

Rodney makes the case that it isn't simply the numerical amount of money that makes f*ck you money, but the attitude and mental makeup of the person with said money. If you have it in you, there will be signs before the coins corroborate it. He also talks about the state of the world economy and offers an elegant solution to thriving in this brave new economic environment. He encourages you to try out conscious capitalism as a means to making money and making heaven. Listen and enjoy.

F*ck Your Feelings: Unlocking Your Emotional Intelligence

"'Trust your feelings!' - but you haven't done the work, you're not at peace, you're not self-aware, you're not emotionally intelligent." -Rodney

Rodney continues his exploration of emotional intelligence as he gives a glimpse into the deep work that goes into developing it intentionally. Emotions are tricky things. Especially strong ones. If you don't have the requisite mastery of them (emotional intelligence), they will complicate things -- they will f*ck you up. In this episode, Rodney goes to all kinds of places to show how tricky emotions can be. He shares some original ideas and a personal story to weave a compelling monologue about all the ways your emotions can work for and against you. He uses the analogy of "standing too close to the elephant" to show how misleading emotions can be; and he borrows from Avatar: The Last Airbender to show the practical work that goes into achieving emotional clarity. In the end, you will know what true emotional intelligence looks like.

Sexual Intelligence I: The Power of Pleasure and Passion

"Intelligence isn't just academic or emotional. Even sex requires sense." - Rodney.

Do you take your pleasure seriously? If you do, this episode is for you. Sex is one of those scary things in our society that everybody loves but still loves to hate.

Whenever we talk about being the best version of ourselves, everything else comes up, except sex. It's naught but an afterthought. Rodney uses the opportunity to challenge this mindset.

In this episode, he debuts an original idea: sexual intelligence which encourages one to think beyond the bedroom, beyond the physicality of sex, to be thoughtful about the power of pleasure, the gift of sex, and the intelligence it requires.

Rodney goes deep-- exploring the nuances of bad sex, good sex, and great sex -- what it means to be a good lover -- a sex god! He believes that if you have a sex life, you have a responsibility to make it as good as it can be and it should positively affect other aspects of your life.
