I started my podcast as a way to create a safe space for women and girls specifically women of color to talk amongst each other. As someone who is a Nigerian American teen in America I wanted to create a space where women can talk about issues that affect us in life as women/girls and raising awareness and education to things that you might come across at some point in your life. This is a crazy world that is just getting crazier, and navigating through as a women at times may seem hard or even scary. Educating women and girls is something that is important to me, and raising awareness to issues specific to women that you might not see talked about on main stream. personally in my opinion, nowadays when we do talk about women in main stream, media, a lot of our issues, and just very being as simplified and water down but being a woman or a girl is a lot more complex. It is not only a physical reality, but it is an emotional, mental, economic, environmental and it is in someways a biological reality that we go through. I continue to strive for women and for the rights of all women to live as individuals and I will continue to educate us as women in order to empower us, and create further liberation of women globally. So join me in my new podcast series!! Oby's World

Hey guys!! On today’s episode of my podcast I want to talk about PERIOD. The menstrual movement, they are an organization that works together to eradicate period poverty and the stigma associated with menstruation. I was truly impressed by the work that they have done in such a short time and how diverse and far reaching they have been in their goal, and in the communities that they seek to reach. I have reached out to the organization personally to try to work with them and I did receive an email back from their global community engagement coordinator so hopefully we will have another episode with them soon! Hey guys!! On today’s episode of my podcast, I want to talk about makeup. Now, when it comes to makeup and cosmetic products, I feel like there is a double-edged sword when it comes to society, and in one aspect, they praise women who don’t wear make-up. But also, in the same breath, they demean and belittle women who choose to. In my opinion, it should be fun, and it shouldn’t feel like a task, but you also should be doing it for yourself and nobody else. Tune in for more!!

Hey guys!! On today’s episode of my podcast, I want to talk about orientalism. Orientalism is a term coined by Edward Said a postcolonial studies scholar. It talks about this constant comparison between the orient and the occident. I believe this is something that very much relates to modern society and culture. And in many ways, it may help us understand things, such as cultural appropriation, better. Tune in for more!!

And how do we see it being expressed today? I’m here to give you guys my personal take on it with how I view my personal identity, but also identity as itself as an idea. Tune in for more!!

Hey guys!! On today’s episode of my podcast I want to talk about hook up culture. Now hookup culture I believe is something that was introduced to my generation starting at a very young age but I also believe it is something that if you don’t tread through it lightly, you can end up really hurting yourself mentally and emotionally. however for some people, it’s a sense of freedom and reclaiming. I want to give you guys my opinion and experience. Tune in for more!!

Hey guys!! I’m back, and I hope you all had a wonderful holiday and new year. On today’s episode of my podcast, I want to talk about the N word. I believe there are a lot of nuances when it comes to this word. Today we’re going to dive in with my opinion or assessment of the word and how I feel about fellow black people using it, as well as non-black people. Furthermore, I want to talk about how the validity of this word in some ways has been watered down due to things such as pop culture. And of course, this is a conversation that I believe can go further, because I believe this word is also entwined with things such as colorism and texturism and this idea of micro-aggression. Hey guys!! In today’s episode of my podcast, I want to talk about “the double standards when it comes to sex,” specifically when it comes to the black community. Joining me today to discuss the topic is my friend Foggie. In the black community, we have a way of quickly labeling a black girl as “fast” for simply wanting to explore not only her femininity but her sexuality. Today we are going to talk about our own personal experiences, but the broader issue with this systemic problem. Tune in for more!!

Hey guys!! On today’s episode of my podcast I want to talk about this idea of the “nerdy black girl” this is a term that I have been labeled with before and I’m sure many other black girls, and women out there can relate to being labeled like this as well for taking a liking to things, such as anime or reading. It’s also a term I often think is associated with your level of intellect, which I think I can be very harmful, especially to the black community. Tune in for more!!

Hey guys!! On today’s episode of my podcast I want to talk about outgrowing friendships. As I have gotten older, I have found that friendships don’t always last and the reasoning for it doesn’t always have to be negative. Even today in 2023 birth control and contraceptives are still a very politicized topic when it should be realized as simply something apart of women’s health. There are many different methods to help us women and girls through our periods and even practice safe sex and whatever you as an individual decide to do it is your body, so it is your choice.
