In this episode of The New Beyond, I sit down with Eric Antonette, a certified anger management specialist, relationship coach, yoga teacher, Reiki master, and regression therapist.
He is trained to handle court-mandated anger management cases and is passionate about helping couples release old behavioral patterns and build relationships rooted in love, respect, and connection.
Eric blends his expertise in yoga, energy healing, and regression therapy to offer a truly holistic approach to personal transformation.
Together, we dive into the topic of Mastering Emotions in Relationships—exploring how we can build healthier, more conscious connections through emotional awareness, personal responsibility, and deep inner work.
Eric shares his personal journey from a childhood marked by family conflict to becoming a powerful guide for others navigating anger, trauma, and relationship challenges. He opens up about how his own healing paved the way for his life’s work and the wisdom he offers to clients today.
Key Topics Discussed:
How unprocessed childhood experiences shape adult relationships.
The importance of allowing and processing emotions rather than suppressing or controlling them.
Tools for regulating the nervous system to move from reactivity to conscious response.
Why anger is often misunderstood as a "bad" emotion and how it can be a powerful guide when addressed constructively.
The “Four Horsemen” of relationship breakdown (criticism, defensiveness, stonewalling, and contempt) as identified by John Gottman, and how to counteract them.
The power of accountability, forgiveness, and making amends in healing relationship dynamics.
Notable Quotes:
“The thing we think we’re upset about is never the real thing. Our emotions are guides that point us toward the deeper work we need to do.” – Eric Antonette
“Anger is neutral. It’s our response to it that determines whether it becomes constructive or destructive.” – Eric Antonette
“The only way out is through. We must allow ourselves to feel and process emotions to master them.” – Eric Antonette
“When we are responsible for our emotions, we stop blaming others and step into our true power to create something beautiful in our lives.” – Eric Antonette

It’s Aquarius season again here in The New Beyond and for me, that means I’ve completed another trip around the sun.
As a double Aquarian, (sun & rising signs), I am about to celebrate my 83rd birthday. And I am also celebrating the 3rd anniversary of this podcast.
So, this week’s episode is a bit self-indulgent, if you will allow, as I reflect on being in my 80’s as an Aquarian being, which is anything but ordinary, especially now, in 2025, with the overwhelming amount of change, disruption and chaos we are currently experiencing all over the world.
We are living in extraordinary times, and I think it takes great courage to be a human being on the planet right now. As an 83 year-old, I am so far from the typical profile of someone my age. And yet, I know that it is just a number. What really matters is how we make the years count while we’re here. I’ll share about that in this episode.
In this episode, I drop a bit of astrology on you. I am not an astrologer, but Aquarius is the sign of astrology, so I have a keen interest.
I discuss some background on what is happening now astrologically, that impacts every one of us, not just Aquarians. We are entering a 20-year cycle of gigantic upheaval, leading to a major shift in paradigms.
We are now firmly into the Aquarian Age, which I equate to The New Beyond. When I received the name of this podcast three years ago, I did not consciously connect the dots between these two. But it’s now clear to me, this is what it is.
The New Beyond IS the Age of Aquarius and it is fitting and proper that this podcast represents that consciousness.
If you’ll further indulge me, at the end of this week’s episode, I share a piece of my writing about why I came to the planet. I hope you can hear yourself in there and find something in it that resonates for you.
Thank you for coming along on this journey with me for the past three years.
I ask for one more indulgence: the BEST birthday gift you could give me…….. please leave a review on Apple if you find this podcast worth listening to. It makes a difference, it really does!

In this inspiring and insightful episode, I welcome back transformational coach and leadership expert Lisa Kalmin as we dive deep into what it takes to set powerful, meaningful goals for the New Year.
But this isn’t about the tired tradition of New Year’s resolutions that fade after two weeks. It’s about something much bigger: the power of declaration, leaning into discomfort, and creating breakthroughs that transform not only what we accomplish but who we become in the process.
Lisa and I unpack:
Why New Year’s resolutions fail and what makes goals so much more powerful.
The critical difference between goals inside your comfort zone and stretch goals that require courage and faith.
The power of declaration — what happens when you say your goals out loud and enroll others in holding you accountable.
How to declare without evidence — stepping into possibility, even when the roadmap is unclear.
The physiology of fear and how to transform fear into curiosity and growth.
Why leaning into discomfort is the birthplace of breakthroughs.
How our relationship with control keeps us stuck and what it takes to let go and trust.
We discuss the role of curiosity as a superpower for staying engaged, vibrant, and open to life’s infinite possibilities. Whether it’s pursuing a bold professional goal, having a hard conversation, or saying yes to the unknown, the message is clear: The only way out is through.
If you’re ready to make 2025 a year unlike any other, this episode will inspire you to:
Step into the gap between where you are and where you want to be.
Befriend fear and take action anyway.
Declare a goal that stretches you and enroll others to help you achieve it.
Remember that every small step forward moves the ball down the field.
This is not just about achieving goals — it’s about who you become on the journey.
As Lisa says, no one listening to this podcast wants 2025 to look exactly like 2024. So, what are you declaring for yourself this year?

This is my final episode for the year so I wanted to wish you a Happy New Year and leave you with a gift.
This week’s podcast episode is a meditation I created to invite you to look back upon this year, consider its challenges and gifts and be grateful for it all. Regardless of the content of your experiences.
It has all been for your growth, for your learning, even the parts you didn’t like or didn’t want. Even the parts that caused you pain. See if you can hold them as gifts, and in time, you will receive the lessons they brought you.
It’s also an invitation to look ahead and consider all the new possibilities that await you in the new year, set your intentions, goals and dreams for who you want to be, what you want to do and what you want to create.
Thank you for being part of my journey this past year, here in The New Beyond. I look forward to seeing where the new year takes us.
May you be abundantly blessed,

This week's episode is a selection from my Musings & Meditations Audio Series 2: Give Yourself Grace.
After just recovering from my first bout with Covid barely in time to board the flight to my dream bucket list trip to Barcelona, Spain, coming home in time for Thanksgiving and now almost recovered from jet lag and the lingering effects of Covid fatigue, I needed to give myself a lot of grace.
I am someone who is normally wired to go full speed at least 85% of the time. And yes, for an 82 year old, that is a bit unusual. But I've always been that way. Up until now.
And now, I'm learning the lessons of slowing down and savoring life at a different speed. So this meditation hits me at just the right moment and I hope it does that for you too.
It's part of a series of original meditations I've created especially for this season. Each one is designed to support you to come home to yourself, connect with what matters most, and savor the sweet stillness and silence within.
As we move in this busy time of year, may you remember to take good care of you, the one who will take you through this lifetime and into your own New Beyond.
Wishing you many blessings this holiday season!

As we approach Thanksgiving, it’s time to talk about gratitude in a new way.
In this episode, we’ll discusses some of the scientific findings of the Research Project on Gratitude and Thanksgiving and the effects that cultivating a state of gratitude have on the body, mind and spirit.
Did you know that gratitude is considered medicinal? It literally changes the body’s biochemistry and helps the body combat stress and uncertainty. If there ever was a antidote for the stress we are currently living with, it is gratitude.
Did you know that gratitude is one of the highest states of consciousness and vibrates as the same level as Love?
Did you know that it is IMPOSSIBLE to be depressed and focused on gratitude at the same time? Learn why……
Join us and as we deepen your appreciation and gratitude for the One who has stood by you throughout your entire life, stood FOR you for your entire life and will carry you to your own New Beyond when you leave this plane.
One of my biggest blessings has been the launch this podcast, AND your support of this endeavor. Your being on this journey with me is what makes it all worthwhile.

As we continue to navigate the turbulent aftermath of the American presidential election, I want to turn our attention to a much broader and deeper question that extends beyond politics: Are we being good ancestors?
This is not just a question for Americans, but for every person living on this planet.
This week on The New Beyond, I’m diving into this profound inquiry, inspired by a line I heard during a play recently: “What are you choosing to do with the rest of the days your ancestors earned you?”
This question hit me hard, and I’ve been reflecting on it ever since.
What am I, personally, doing with the days my ancestors fought to give me?
What choices am I making?
And on a collective level, what are WE choosing to do with the time we’ve been given?
The episode explores:
How the choices we make today, both individually and collectively, are shaping the legacy we leave behind for future generations.
How history, environmental crises, social inequality, and personal responsibility intersect with the idea of being a “good ancestor.”
What Dr. Jonas Salk called “survival of the wisest,” and why wisdom, not just strength, is key to our survival and evolution.
We also dive into the personal responsibility we each carry to heal the wounds of our lineage and pass on a legacy that uplifts and empowers those who come after us.
The choices we make now—whether in how we treat the environment, each other, or ourselves—will be the foundation for the world our great-great-grandchildren inherit.
This episode is a call to action, a reminder that each of us has the power to leave behind something better, if we have the courage to make wise, conscious choices today.
I invite you to tune in to this week’s episode and reflect on the question: Are we being good ancestors?

As the American presidential election draws near, we take on one of the most pressing questions many voters face: Does my vote really matter?
As the resident of a historically “blue” state, I’m often asked, “Why bother to vote?” And I'm told that “my vote doesn’t matter.”
In this week's episode, I challenge the notion of indifference and explore how our decision to vote—or not—reflects more than just political engagement. It speaks to how we show up in our lives.
Through insightful reflections, we’ll connect the act of voting to a deeper, more personal level. As listeners, you’ll be encouraged to examine where else in life you’ve chosen to "sit it out" or walk away from challenges, and what that says about how we value our own voices.
Drawing on history, from civil rights leaders to everyday acts of courage, we’re reminded that exercising our right to vote isn’t just a political act—it’s an affirmation of our belief that we matter.
In this episode, you’ll discover:
Why your vote matters, even in a "red" or "blue" state.
The deeper spiritual and psychological implications of choosing not to vote.
How historical figures who stood up for what they believed shaped the world—and how you can too.
How your decision to vote or not reflects on your own sense of worth and voice.
With the future of the country at stake, I contend that showing up matters—not just for the election, but for the soul of the citizen in all of us.
Join the conversation, reflect on your own role, and most importantly—make your voice count.

In this powerful and reflective episode of The New Beyond, we'll dive deep into the concept of heroism, challenging the conventional definitions and shining a light on the quiet, everyday acts of bravery that often go unnoticed.
While society often glorifies grand heroic gestures, we'll explore the profound heroism that comes from simply being human, facing life's challenges, and continuing forward with resilience, compassion, and integrity.
What makes an everyday hero?
It’s a mother giving birth, a teacher guiding students, or someone showing up as their authentic self in a world that may not always embrace them. In this episode, you’ll be encouraged to reflect on the quiet acts of heroism that we all embody, and how these simple, yet powerful, actions contribute to the greater good.
Heroism isn't always about grand, life-saving acts; sometimes, it’s the simple choice to live with authenticity, to care for others, and to face life’s challenges head-on.
Our individual actions, no matter how small, contribute to the collective resilience and strength of humanity as we navigate these difficult and polarized times.

This week’s episode is an interview from the summit, Midlife Spiritual Warrior, with hypontherapist and shamanic practitioner, Beth Osmer..
You might be wondering what I was doing on a summit focused on issues of midlife? Beth invited me to share with her audience some of the keys to living a life of vitality, energy and purpose well beyond the midlife years, basically what I call “Living a Life That Matters”.
What follows is our conversation about what has served me to keep going at a high level of creativity and engagement in a career that spans 50 years.
Some of the key things we discuss are the importance of:
Regular physical activity- it doesn’t matter what, as long as you are consistent
Healthy diet and nutrition
Knowing your purpose in life- being connected to and aligned with your soul’s calling-
Being curious and courageous instead of anxious- the willingness to move beyond anxiety and fear into courage and curiosity to meet the unknown
Maintaining an open mind-set and welcoming change
Having your actions aligned with your values
Trusting and believing in yourself
Community-the importance of belonging and being connected to a community of kindred spirits

In this episode of The New Beyond, we kick off Season 6 with a deep dive into the cosmic and spiritual dynamics influencing our world today, particularly in the context of the upcoming U.S. presidential election.
Moving beyond the surface of politics, we explore the broader shift from the Age of Pisces to the Age of Aquarius—a time characterized by the rise of the archetypal Feminine and a move toward unity and higher consciousness.
Through a powerful reflection on the "Story of the Soul of Humanity," we examine how the collective struggles we face mirror the inner battles within each of us, and how our individual choices contribute to the evolution of humanity's soul.
As we navigate this era of transition, we are reminded that who we are, and the choices we make, matter deeply. Join us as we explore the profound promise of the Aquarian Age and what it means for us all as we step into The New Beyond.

Rounding out our encore presentations is this week's episode:
What is the hardest thing you’ll ever do? Can you imagine?
Perhaps you look back at your past and contemplate about all the hard things you’ve already done. You might reflect on getting through hard things you didn’t think you could do. Perhaps how you got through that experience might inform you about how you’d approach other hard things in your life.
You might think of relationship or career challenges, health or finance challenges. You might think of challenges related to being a parent, a wife, husband, or finding the right person to spend your life with.
But for all the things that might occur to you as the hardest things you’ve ever done, you will likely not land on the actual hardest thing you can possibly do. For it isn’t any of the above.
Join me as I explore the hardest thing for a human being to do, given our human nature. Given that we have personalities, fears, likes, dislikes, preferences, opinions, and a need to feel in control, the hardest thing we’ll ever do does not involve lifting a finger. It’s much deeper and harder than what it appears to be.
I will teach you a practice to support you engaging with your hardest thing. So, listen all the way to the end.

Listeners, this will crack your heart wide-open. Listen again as my guest and VA, Alicia Strunk, a New Hampshire native, now residing in Ireland, shares the most heart-breaking/heart-opening story you can imagine.
During this past year, Alicia’s pregnancy was a common topic of our discussions. We delighted in talking about the journey of pregnancy, motherhood, and all that it calls forth for a woman. It was impossible not to share her excitement around the coming birth.
However, at 39 weeks into her pregnancy and expecting to give birth at any moment, Alicia she got the news that her first born was going to be a stillbirth.
To lose her baby at full term was not only an unexpected and shocking turn of events, it surfaced some very deep and existential questions that Alicia and her husband had to address. What happened? What went wrong? Why did this happen?
In a shocking scenario from which it would seem impossible to find anything to be grateful for, Alicia dives deep to share the gifts came to light through this tragedy.
In her experience of processing this loss, Alicia found beauty in grieving and learned that pain does not have to lead to suffering. She learned that her capacity to love was far deeper than she imagined. She learned that it not only takes a village to raise a child, it also takes a village to mourn the loss of one, and that one can leave a legacy without even taking a breath.
While the subject is sensitive and involves grief and loss, I think you’ll be uplifted and inspired by the way Alicia, her husband Johnny, their families, and their community have been present to the fullness of this experience and how they’ve grown from it.
While this journey is, on the surface, about the end of something, it is also about the promise of a new beginning. Tune in and learn what that new beginning might be.

Lisa Kalmin is back for our encore presentation this week.
Lisa and I have been colleagues in the business of transformation and leadership development for many decades. She is also a mindset coach, speaker, corporate trainer and at the age of 51 became the mother of twin boys!
For the past 35 years, Lisa has coached and trained over 25,000 people in the principles and techniques to transform their lives.
In this episode, Lisa and I take on the subject of the Bad Ass Woman (BAW).
Tune in and learn:
Are YOU a BAW? If you think not, tune in. You might just change your mind!
Lastly, one thing a BAW does, she asks for what she wants and is willing to receive it.
On that note, this BAW would like nothing more than for you to share this episode with other BAW and even write a review or give us some stars (5 please!). There! I said it! And thank you!
