In this powerful and reflective episode of The New Beyond, we'll dive deep into the concept of heroism, challenging the conventional definitions and shining a light on the quiet, everyday acts of bravery that often go unnoticed.
While society often glorifies grand heroic gestures, we'll explore the profound heroism that comes from simply being human, facing life's challenges, and continuing forward with resilience, compassion, and integrity.
What makes an everyday hero?
It’s a mother giving birth, a teacher guiding students, or someone showing up as their authentic self in a world that may not always embrace them. In this episode, you’ll be encouraged to reflect on the quiet acts of heroism that we all embody, and how these simple, yet powerful, actions contribute to the greater good.
Heroism isn't always about grand, life-saving acts; sometimes, it’s the simple choice to live with authenticity, to care for others, and to face life’s challenges head-on.
Our individual actions, no matter how small, contribute to the collective resilience and strength of humanity as we navigate these difficult and polarized times.

This week’s episode is an interview from the summit, Midlife Spiritual Warrior, with hypontherapist and shamanic practitioner, Beth Osmer..
You might be wondering what I was doing on a summit focused on issues of midlife? Beth invited me to share with her audience some of the keys to living a life of vitality, energy and purpose well beyond the midlife years, basically what I call “Living a Life That Matters”.
What follows is our conversation about what has served me to keep going at a high level of creativity and engagement in a career that spans 50 years.
Some of the key things we discuss are the importance of:
Regular physical activity- it doesn’t matter what, as long as you are consistent
Healthy diet and nutrition
Knowing your purpose in life- being connected to and aligned with your soul’s calling-
Being curious and courageous instead of anxious- the willingness to move beyond anxiety and fear into courage and curiosity to meet the unknown
Maintaining an open mind-set and welcoming change
Having your actions aligned with your values
Trusting and believing in yourself
Community-the importance of belonging and being connected to a community of kindred spirits
Generosity and contribution- being in service to something larger than yourself
Join us in this rich conversation of what I’ve learned in 82 years of living a life that matters.

In this episode of The New Beyond, we kick off Season 6 with a deep dive into the cosmic and spiritual dynamics influencing our world today, particularly in the context of the upcoming U.S. presidential election.
Moving beyond the surface of politics, we explore the broader shift from the Age of Pisces to the Age of Aquarius—a time characterized by the rise of the archetypal Feminine and a move toward unity and higher consciousness.
Through a powerful reflection on the "Story of the Soul of Humanity," we examine how the collective struggles we face mirror the inner battles within each of us, and how our individual choices contribute to the evolution of humanity's soul.
As we navigate this era of transition, we are reminded that who we are, and the choices we make, matter deeply. Join us as we explore the profound promise of the Aquarian Age and what it means for us all as we step into The New Beyond.

Rounding out our encore presentations is this week's episode:
What is the hardest thing you’ll ever do? Can you imagine?
Perhaps you look back at your past and contemplate about all the hard things you’ve already done. You might reflect on getting through hard things you didn’t think you could do. Perhaps how you got through that experience might inform you about how you’d approach other hard things in your life.
You might think of relationship or career challenges, health or finance challenges. You might think of challenges related to being a parent, a wife, husband, or finding the right person to spend your life with.
But for all the things that might occur to you as the hardest things you’ve ever done, you will likely not land on the actual hardest thing you can possibly do. For it isn’t any of the above.
Join me as I explore the hardest thing for a human being to do, given our human nature. Given that we have personalities, fears, likes, dislikes, preferences, opinions, and a need to feel in control, the hardest thing we’ll ever do does not involve lifting a finger. It’s much deeper and harder than what it appears to be.
I will teach you a practice to support you engaging with your hardest thing. So, listen all the way to the end.

Listeners, this will crack your heart wide-open. Listen again as my guest and VA, Alicia Strunk, a New Hampshire native, now residing in Ireland, shares the most heart-breaking/heart-opening story you can imagine.
During this past year, Alicia’s pregnancy was a common topic of our discussions. We delighted in talking about the journey of pregnancy, motherhood, and all that it calls forth for a woman. It was impossible not to share her excitement around the coming birth.
However, at 39 weeks into her pregnancy and expecting to give birth at any moment, Alicia she got the news that her first born was going to be a stillbirth.
To lose her baby at full term was not only an unexpected and shocking turn of events, it surfaced some very deep and existential questions that Alicia and her husband had to address. What happened? What went wrong? Why did this happen?
In a shocking scenario from which it would seem impossible to find anything to be grateful for, Alicia dives deep to share the gifts came to light through this tragedy.
In her experience of processing this loss, Alicia found beauty in grieving and learned that pain does not have to lead to suffering. She learned that her capacity to love was far deeper than she imagined. She learned that it not only takes a village to raise a child, it also takes a village to mourn the loss of one, and that one can leave a legacy without even taking a breath.
While the subject is sensitive and involves grief and loss, I think you’ll be uplifted and inspired by the way Alicia, her husband Johnny, their families, and their community have been present to the fullness of this experience and how they’ve grown from it.
While this journey is, on the surface, about the end of something, it is also about the promise of a new beginning. Tune in and learn what that new beginning might be.

This episode is a story about a community that is part fiction, part vision and part emerging reality.
It's about a tranquil town called New Beyond, whose residents all share a common vision and intention: that is to discover, develop and express their daimon, or what the Romans called genius.
It's a story about what's possible when human beings come together in community to elevate themselves and each other to their level of genius and mastery.
And in truth, it's a story about a membership community I've already created called Leveling Up in The New Beyond.
It's also an invitation to you, dear listener, to join us and become a member of this vibrant community.

Here's what one of our members writes:
Being in a community of like-minded folks whose common intention is pointed towards stretching their personal development is great. Having that community led by Dr. Judith Rich? Now THAT is Leveling up.
I've had the privilege of working with Judith in various Leadership programs over the last several years and the focused and intentional experience in Leveling up in the New Beyond is just that, leveling up. It's just the right balance of group sessions, community content and the opportunity to engage - at a group level, in smaller power teams and of course with Judith herself.
Can't wait to see where my next level leads me!

Did you ever feel like you didn't fit in? Like you didn't belong?
I grew up feeling that way...... in my own family! I always wondered who were these people and why was I with them? And this was my own family. At least on paper. But it never felt that way in real life.
This episode is very personal to me. It's my own story of searching for my people and where I belonged.
And what I learned about belonging after years and years of doing transformational work.
And it's about why I am committed to creating communities that nurture people finding themselves and creating their own belonging,
I've recently created a membership community called: Leveling Up in The New Beyond. We've completed our Founding Members launch and the doors are currently closed to new members, but when they open again for people to join as General Members, I hope you will consider joining us. Stay tuned.

Democracy is under threat all over the world today.
Here in the United States, we are keenly aware of the dangers of losing our system of government with our democratic system on the line in the upcoming elections.
This issue transcends politics. It’s not about right or left, conservative or liberal. It’s about preserving the very foundation upon which our country was founded.
This is why I’ve invited my guest this week, Peggy O’Neal, to join me as we have a conversation about what’s at stake and what we need to do as citizens to become active participants, in the process, not just bystanders.
Peggy has been coaching leaders in multi-national organizations throughout the world for more than 30 years.
She is a Certified Integral Master Coach and the author of two chapters in the Handbook of Personal and Organizational Transformation, the first book on cutting-edge theory and practice on small- and large-scale transformation.
Prior to becoming a transformational leadership coach, Peggy practiced law for 12 years. She earned her J.D. from the Univ. of Arkansas, where she served as an Assistant Attorney General and served in President Clinton’s administration in the Federal Labor Relations Authority.
In 2023, Peggy established Unite for Democracy, a grass-roots nonpartisan nonprofit mass involvement initiative dedicated to inviting all citizens to participate in the reshaping of democracy for a bright America.
Its purpose is to ensure that the United States of America remains a democracy and does not fall into a dictatorship.
Its-of-a-kind educational events are designed to be welcoming and uplifting, helping everyday Americans find their voices and ways of participation that align with their perspectives, passions, and schedules.
Through inclusive “neighborhood” gatherings, both online and in-person, Unite for Democracy facilitates discussions among millions, encouraging dialogue not merely about what’s not working, but about the nation we long for, and know in our hearts is possible.
Join us as we discuss the importance of each of us as citizens becoming actively engaged in the democratic process if we want to preserve our system of government.
By supporting individuals to actualize their democratic ideals, UFD aims to instill democracy as an energizing way of life.
Democracy is indeed, an inside job!

This episode was inspired by a podcast interview between Brene Brown and her guest, Amy Web, on the Unlocking Us podcast in which they discuss the impact of the accelerating pace of change and transformation taking place in the world today.
They refer to us as Gen T- which is everyone living on the planet during this time of rapid change, a time which cannot be defined by a the number of years, as this change is continuous, ongoing, and no one knows where or how it will resolve itself.
This idea inspired me to do this episode, in which I explore the potential of being a part of Gen T, (I'll explain more specifically what the "T" stands for in the episode).
As Gen T, we are the ones here, navigating the gap between what used to be, and no longer is, and what is becoming, but isn't yet.
Feeling overwhelmed? No wonder!
We are the ones being faced with massive amounts of change that our nervous systems were not designed to manage.
We'll unpack the tasks before us now, what kinds of skill sets and behaviors we must adapt to, and adopt, in order to successfully thrive in this time.
Ironically, whatever it is that we are moving towards, I call that The New Beyond. It's what this podcast, and my book, Beyond the Box are about.
Who do we need to become as everything we ever thought we knew or relied upon is slowly (or rapidly) being dismantled?
Tune in, as take on the conversation and tackle the journey together.

Have you ever experienced the worst thing that ever happened in your life turning out to be the best thing and a blessing?
My guest this week, Rhema Flowers, has authored a chapter in the book, The Turnaround: How the Worst Thing Became the Best Thing.
In this episode, she shares the three main takeaways she learned while going through a very difficult time in her life with the loss of her beloved older sister and how that experience inspired her to create and live the life of her dreams.
Rhema is a vibrant, multi-passionate entrepreneur living her dream life on the island of Maui, where she runs a Wellness Center, teaches yoga, and hosts luxury retreats. But her life didn’t always look or feel like a dream life.
Prior to moving to Maui, Rhema worked in the corporate world as a marketing director and, like many people who work in the corporate world, she experienced stress and burn-out and felt there was something more she needed to do with her life.
Around this time, Rhema discovered yoga, and has never looked back. She became a yoga instructor and a partner in a yoga studio in Los Angeles. She went to visit Maui at the beginning of the pandemic, with no thought of staying. But the magic of Maui grabbed her soul and shortly thereafter, she made Maui her home.
Rhema is passionate about her vision and mission to inspire, empower and enroll women into their own vision of a healthy, vibrant, energetic lifestyle. She believes that the healing of the planet will be greatly influenced and made possible through the efforts of women and her calling is to help women build a healthy foundation for living the lives they want.
To that end, Rhema offers goddess-oriented wellness retreats on Maui where women can come to unwind, reset and balance their bodies, minds and spirits. Her next retreat offering is in May. Look for a link in the show notes for more information about attending.
Join us as Rhema shares about how Maui is recovering from the recent fires and devastation and the importance of helping to sustain and bring the “Aloha” energy of the island in our everyday lives.

In this time of rapid change and transformation, at times, you might have felt awash in emotions, feelings, body, or other issues that threatened to hijack your ability to function normally.
Welcome to the club! You are not alone! Many of us are right there with you!
Fortunately, there is a way out! My guest this week is Cindy Shumaker, also known as the "Calming Engineer".
Cindy Shumaker is a Certified eutaptics® Advanced Practitioner. Her expertise is in the field of neuroplasticity, particularly in navigating the complexities of grief and loss, which are often referred to as "life's unwanted changes."
Cindy shares about her journey of introspection and deepening that began in her teens when she struggled with the debilitating effects of anxiety, low self-esteem, and health challenges brought on by worry and perfectionism, endemic to young teen girls. Her issues created a health crisis that took her to the hospital. She has had chronic stomach issues throughout her life as a result.
This experience set her out on a lifelong journey of self-discovery to end this cycle because she was convinced that the mind-body connection held the key to finding solutions.
After overcoming her own struggles, Cindy became passionate about empowering others to become their own superheroes.
She spent 3 years training to become a certified eutaptics® Advanced Practitioner. You might be familiar with the modality of EFT (Emotional Freedom Tapping) This is one of the 75 modalities Cindy uses in her work.

Any extroverts in the house?
I'm guessing "yes", since chances are good, if you follow this podcast, you likely are an extrovert or at least have those tendencies.
I used to be one too, but today, I consider myself a "Chilled-Out Extrovert", a seeming contradiction, I know. Because my experience is that those old tendencies are still in me and every so often they burst forth in a frenzy of activity that takes my breath away. Literally!
Couple that with my Aries moon, having recently been eclipsed while in Mercury retrograde, and you get some mighty energy going on.
So this episode is for and about extroverts, those who love them, live with them, or otherwise have to deal with them ... (which is pretty much everyone!)
There are some things I've realized over the years about being extroverted and how to best manage all that need to be in charge
It's a funny thing about us extroverts: we give the impression that we love to be surrounded by people and activities all the time.
We're generally viewed as the "life of the party" people, the ones with our fingers always on the pulse of what's new, hip, happening and what's next.
But here's a little "secret" about us: it's not that we love to be surrounded at all times, it's that we need to be. And therein, lies the problem.
Join me as I unpack my own experience of dealing with the shreds and shards of extroversion that still cling to my personality, even at this “mature” age of 82! And what it costs me!
What is it that REALLY drives extroverts to seek all that attention? What has us REALLY need to be in charge, manage, lead and direct whatever parade we’re marching in?
You might take notes if you’re an extroverted type as we dive into the dynamics of what’s really going on inside all that activity and best of all….. what is the antidote!
And extroverts, what have you found to be effective ways to deal with your own extroverted, burned-out status when you’ve crossed the line?
Come join us in the Living in The New Beyond Facebook group and share your own “secrets to being a chilled-out extrovert”, if there is such a thing! We are all ears!!

Welcome to the 100th episode of The New Beyond!
As many of you know, I began this podcast a little over 2 years ago as a kind of legacy project for my 80th birthday.
And we’re now 2 years and 100 episodes down the road and I’m still here! And so are you! And this community has grown and I’m celebrating that with all of you.
Recently, I surveyed the people who regularly listen to this podcast and among other things, I inquired : “what are the biggest challenges in your life right now”?
Over half of you indicated among your biggest challenge are issues around purpose, and direction. What is my purpose and where am I going? What's next in my life?
So, there's a lot of uncertainty about what your life is about. And why wouldn’t that be the case?
For those of you who are looking to launch or relaunch your life, to invent or reinvent yourself, let’s not lose sight of the fact that you are doing this in an era of endless change and upheaval.
There is an interesting quote from Alan Watts that I posted on the LITNB FB page:
“There is a contradiction in wanting to be perfectly secure in a universe whose very nature is momentariness and fluidity.”
And I think we could also say:
"There is a contradiction in wanting to be certain in a universe whose very nature is that of uncertainty.”
The question that arises, what can I do? What am I supposed to do with my life when It's taking place inside such instability and change and upheaval?
Join me as I address the following:
Together we have work to do. And I am here to support you.
For those who indicated in your survey response that you’re interested in working with me either 1:1 in private coaching, or in a group, please contact me at: judith@judithrich.com or message me on Facebook Messenger.
Tell me what you’re interested in and let’s put together a plan that meets your needs.

In this week’s episode, I tackle the subject of positive thinking and why I am not a fan.
My point of view is that there is no such thing as positive thinking. There is only thinking. Thoughts are neither positive nor negative. They’re just thoughts.
I further suggest there are no positive or negative feelings. There are only feelings. Following this line of thought, I further suggest there are no positive choices or positive results. There are only choices and results.
I’m also not anti-positive thinking. I’m merely pointing out that I think we’re not looking at the whole picture when we talk about positive/negative thinking.
Remember, in The New Beyond, we are in a context that is outside the norm, or Beyond the Box, so to speak. Positive thinking lies inside the box of conventional approaches to dealing with difficult and challenging experiences and emotions.
So what’s the point?
I contend that positive thinking is a form of spiritual bypassing, which is an approach that uses spiritual explanations to dismiss or avoid dealing with complicated emotions or psychological issues. It’s a form of “magical thinking” that placates the ego, but changes nothing.
Tune in as we unpack this subject and learn:
