The Direct Primary Care Revolution with Dr. Jimisha Patel

Does the current state of the healthcare system frustrate you? Have you had to wait months to see a doctor, only for them to spend 15 minutes with you? Well today, Dr. Jimisha Patel of Thrive Pediatrics discusses with us how she is re-envisioning how effective patient care can look, despite the current healthcare climate.

Dr. Patel is a board-certified pediatrician, a lactation consultant in Columbus, Ohio, and mom of two. When she began her journey in medicine, her goal was simple: to help families keep their children healthy.

However, after practicing for over 10 years, she realized the traditional medical model often takes away valuable time that doctors could spend with their patients, leading to kids needing frequent visits and frustration for both physicians and families. This realization inspired her to create Thrive Pediatrics—a practice focused on providing better care through time, connection, and trust.

As a pediatrician and a mom, she deeply understands the desire parents have to give their children the best. She finds true joy in her work when she can connect with families, build trusting relationships, and empower them to raise thriving children. Partnering with families in this way is not just her profession—it’s her passion.

Upper Cervical Chiropractic Care with Dr. Mercedes Cook

Check out our latest episode all about Upper Cervical Chiropractic Care as we sit down with Dr. Mercedes Cook from the Health Uncovered podcast, as well as from her practice - Upper Cervical Chiropractic San Diego.

In this episode, we discuss how important the upper cervical spine is for neurological health, who may benefit from the care, what the care might look like, as well as the far-reaching applications of the specialty!

Dr. Mercedes Cook is an upper cervical chiropractor in San Diego, California. In her practice she uses a highly specific and gentle adjustment technique to realign the neck to restore proper nervous system function and posture. She has completed the Diplomate of Chiropractic Craniocervical Junction Procedures postdoctoral program to make her one of the most knowledgeable doctors in the world on the craniocervical junction area.

Her goal is to be one of the top trusted providers providing upper cervical care so her patients get the answers to their health and nervous system complications. She is extremely passionate about advancing the upper cervical profession and speaking on its behalf. Dr Mercedes received her first upper cervical adjustment at age 18 after having severe hip pain, anxiety and sleeping issues for 6 months straight. She had tried the medical route to fix the issue and nothing worked! Thankfully she was recommended to an upper cervical provider near her hometown for chiropractic care. This is the origin of Dr Mercedes discovering how the spine impacts the nervous system and posture and if we can keep the nervous system in balance by precise spinal care we can help people decrease their pain, anxiety, depression, digestive issues and so much more!

Dr. Mercedes did her undergrad at Miami University of Ohio for a Bachelor’s in Kinesiology. Her Doctorate of Chiropractic  schooling was completed at Life University in Marietta, GA.

In her personal life Dr Mercedes can be found out on mission bay or one of San Diego's many gorgeous beaches with her husband and two frenchies! Outside of her passion for health she loves to hike, golf and travel as much as she can!
