Love The Hair You Wear with VeCoya Banks
On today's episode I talk to Vecoya Banks who is the founder of "Love The Hair You Wear".  LTHYW was created to help black women embrace their natural hair, increase self-esteem, and support their self care journey. LTHYW is a uniquely curated experience that connects attendees with brands and techniques that empower them. This is especially important in today's political climate. Black women need a safe space to be themselves and discuss the issues that are important to them. Hair is the vehicle for LTHYW but the message is much deeper. She most recently held a "Love The Hair You Wear "event, which took place in mid-September at North Carolina A&T State University.  Over 400 students attended, and the day was filled with meaningful discussions, networking, and celebration of natural beauty and identity.  About Vecoya Banks: Vecoya Banks is a graduate of the World Renowned North Carolina A&T State University and trailblazer in the natural hair community. She has been featured on media platforms such as Essence, Good Morning Washington, Great Day Washington and Fox5WTTGDC. This woman of God gave birth to a vision that has inspired hundreds of women of color to "Love The Hair You Wear". As a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Incorporated she has positively impacted her community through her events that cater to women, children and men.   Natural Hair Education Resources and Programs "5 Principles to Understanding & Performing Natural Hair Care Services" "What Beauty School DID NOT Teach You"  "Texture on Texture" Styling Course

A Client's Scalp Concerns
In this weeks episode, I share a brief story of a previous clients that reached out for a consultation due to his scalp concerns. I talk about the consultation, my recommendations and the importance of Salon sanitation and infection control practices.  I also breakdown the differences between Seborrhea Dermatitis and Eczema.   This episode is recommended to the client and stylist.  As a salon professional we can always be open to listening to our clients and their concerns, as we have a responsibility to ourselves and clients to keep our work areas and tools clean and sanitized to prevent the spread of bacteria and viruses. As clients, I ask that you communicate with your stylist, ask questions.   Natural Hair Education Resources and Programs "5 Principles to Understanding & Performing Natural Hair Care Services" "What Beauty School DID NOT Teach You"  "Texture on Texture" Styling Course

The Four Naturals Hair Treatment w/Shalita Grant
Shalita Grant has created a revolutionizing hair treatment that addresses hair concerns such as dryness, breakage, loss of retention and more.  Her journey of being in the entertainment industry and the lack of textured hair education resulted in her experiencing hair loss, hair breakage and hair discrimination. This led her on a journey to create a treatment made of all natural ingredients that would address many hair concerns of textured hair."In my quest to solve my own Type 4 hair care issues like fragility, shedding, lack of curl definition, and lack of growth retention, I gave myself one goal: All of my ingredients must come from nature. After scouring the web for research, I learned about ancient all-natural ingredients and hair care practices from India and North Africa. I landed on using henna powder – which became the cornerstone ingredient for my product. I was shocked after my first treatment; after the third, I was madly in love with my new gorgeously defined type 4 curls. I knew I wasn’t the only black woman who had experienced hair discrimination. So I created Four Naturals Hair to ensure my community could heal these hair woes and become a staple in black women’s hair care. After scouring the web for research, I learned about ancient all-natural ingredients and hair care practices from India and North Africa. And even though the natural-hair movement is the largest and most positive it has ever been – women and men with Type 4 hair agree that it’s hard to keep our hair healthy. Pretty Hair Strands w/Courtney Bradshaw
Thank you for tuning in to another episode.  This week I have a conversation with Courtney Bradshaw, CEO of Pretty Hair Strands Hair Products. Courtney Bradshaw is the creator of Pretty Strands Hair Products. She is a mother of 4, licensed cosmetologist, and innovator. Pretty Strands Hair oil, the first born baby of the line, was birthed from a need. Her daughter, who was a toddler at the time, suffered from a severe case of eczema. The eczema not only affected her skin, but her scalp as well. All of the products she used made the problem worse. Not being able to find relief from existing products, Courtney was often disappointed. Not realizing that her background of being a cosmetologist and the love for science had already prepared her for the creation of her very own products. She began her journey. Creating an amazing blend of oils that help heal her daughter's scalp and hair. When her family and friends witnessed the miraculous results, she was forced to share this oil with others. She is now living her life with the purpose of helping people with their hair issues with the best quality hair care products. She's helping people have the Pretty strands they always wanted.  Check out her Instagram @prettystrands and Website PrettyStrands.co Natural Hair Education Resources and Programs "5 Principles to Understanding & Performing Natural Hair Care Services" "What Beauty School DID NOT Teach You"  "Texture on Texture" Styling Course
