Jesus tells a surprising story about a dishonest manager and a generous master—not to praise dishonesty, but to reveal the genius of living with kingdom-minded wisdom. The master’s generosity opens the door for the servant’s shrewd action, and together they teach us something vital: God entrusts us with his resources not to hoard, but to handle them carefully and purposefully for his mission. Shrewd stewardship means using earthly things in ways that make an eternal difference—managing what God gives with wisdom, creativity, and a heart aligned to the generosity of our Master. God Floods the Earth
In Noah’s day, God flooded the earth with water—but He also flooded Noah with mercy, sparing him from judgment and giving him new life. Through Jesus, that mercy still flows. God now floods the earth with His grace—and we respond with lives of joyful generosity. A sermon on Genesis 8:15-22

Persistent Prayer
In Luke 18:1–8, Jesus tells the story of a widow who refused to give up and a God who never fails to listen. Prayer can feel discouraging when answers are delayed or silence lingers, but Jesus teaches that persistence is an act of faith. We keep praying not because God is reluctant, but because He is faithful. Through prayer, our hearts are shaped, our trust deepens, and our hope is renewed. Even when heaven seems quiet, God is working—and He invites us to keep praying and never lose heart.

The Church’s Heartbeat #5 - CO-missioned
Christians don’t just exist for Sunday mornings—we are sent into the world with a mission: our vocations. Whatever our calling—parent, spouse, worker, student, or retiree—our daily work is holy because Christ has made us holy. In worship, we come as beggars in need of grace, and God forms us again in his image. Then we go out, scattered across the city, to worship him in the way we love, serve, and work. Where will you be this time tomorrow? (Colossians 3:12–4:1)

The Church’s Heartbeat #4 - RE-formation
Everything in life tries to shape us—our values, priorities, and even our schedules. But in worship, God himself reshapes us by his Word and grace. As we gather, Christ reforms our hearts and minds into his likeness, teaching us to live not for ourselves but for God and others. Rooted in Romans 12:1-8, this message shows how worship is where God forms us for life in the world.

The Church’s Heartbeat #3 - Fruit-filled Worship
God has always called his people to be priests—offering sacrifices of thanks, praise, and devotion. In Christ, the ultimate sacrifice for sin has already been made, once for all, by our Great High Priest. Now, as God’s chosen people, we live as priests in a new way. Like the healed leper who returned to Jesus with praise (Luke 17:11–19), we bring our sacrifices: hearts broken by repentance, lips lifted in praise, prayers of faith, and gifts of our time, talents, and treasures. Worship trains us for this priestly life so that, here, there, and everywhere, we live as holy priests—offering our whole lives in gratitude to the God who has made us his own.

The Church’s Heartbeat #2 - Open Hands
When Solomon dedicated the temple, he knelt with open hands, pleading for God to hear, forgive, and help his people (2 Chronicles 6:12–21). In worship, we also come as beggars with open hands—receiving God’s mercy and grace in Word and Sacrament, and then going out to share where true bread is found.

The Church’s Heartbeat #1 - Welcomed
In 2 Samuel 6:1–14, David longed to be near God, bringing the ark into Jerusalem with a flood of emotions—joy, fear, sorrow, and celebration. Worship is the same for us: we don’t leave our lives at the door but bring our praises, petitions, sins, and sorrows before God. The good news is that God welcomes it all. He welcomes us.

The Prophet’s Mantle #5 - The Legacy
The prophet Elijah’s time was ending. His disciple Elisha was stepping into the future. In their story we find three questions that shape every believer’s legacy: Who are you learning from? Who are you walking with? Who are you raising up? As we close out our series The Prophet’s Mantle, come discover how God uses these relationships to extend his kingdom from one generation to the next. A sermon on 2 Kings 2:1-14.

The Prophet’s Mantle #4 - Burn the Yoke
Have you ever had someone tap you on the shoulder and invite you into something bigger than yourself? That’s what happened to Elisha. Elijah didn’t give him a job description or a ministry title. He simply threw his mantle over Elisha’s shoulders—a call not first to speak, but to follow. Before Elisha would stand as a prophet, he had to walk behind one. This moment isn’t only about Elisha—it’s about us. Jesus does the same. He calls us to follow, to lay aside self and security, to step out of our fields and into His path. That call doesn’t just reach into Sunday mornings—it stretches into every corner of our lives, into our homes, our work, our relationships. The mantle of Christ rests on us, and the question is: how will we respond? A sermon on 1 Kings 19:19-21.

The Prophet’s Mantle #3 - The Meltdown
From the mountaintop to the valley… Elijah experienced both. One moment he stood victorious on Mount Carmel as God sent fire from heaven to silence the false gods of Israel. The next, he was running for his life, sinking into despair, certain his work had accomplished nothing. We know that feeling too—when ministry feels fruitless, when pews are empty, when hearts seem unmoved. Yet that’s where God met Elijah. Not in fire or wind, but with presence—an angel’s touch, a gentle whisper, and renewed purpose. God still meets us in the same way today. Come and be encouraged.

The Prophet’s Mantle #2 - The Showdown
Last week, Elijah came with a message of law and gospel to a people torn between two opinions. This week, he steps into a showdown—one prophet against 450. The odds? Terrible. But Elijah doesn’t flinch. He calls out false gods, drenches the altar, and simply prays. And God answers—with fire from heaven. This Sunday, we’ll remember what Elijah knew: it’s not about our strength, but God’s. We don’t need to be impressive—we just need to show up, speak up, and let the fire fall. A sermon on 1 Kings 18:19-39

Stones of Remembrance #4 - Stone of Help
Stones of Help (1 Samuel 7:3–13) Even after returning to the Lord, Israel faced fierce enemies. But God didn’t leave them defenseless—He thundered from heaven and fought for them. Samuel set up a stone and called it Ebenezer, saying, “Till now the Lord has helped us.” In the same way, we are not promised a life without battles, but we are promised a faithful God who helps. This message calls us to repentance and renewed trust, urging us to remember God’s past faithfulness and move forward with hope, faith, perseverance, and commitment.

Stones of Remembrance #3 - Stones by the Jordan
Stones by the Jordan (Joshua 4:19–24) After miraculously crossing the Jordan River into the Promised Land, the Israelites set up twelve stones from the riverbed as a lasting memorial. These stones were a visible reminder of God’s power, provision, and faithfulness—and a call for future generations to revere and trust Him. In this sermon, we reflect on how remembering what God has done in the past strengthens our unity and shapes how we move forward in faith. As Mount Lebanon nears 100 years of ministry, we are invited to set up our own “stones of remembrance,” celebrating how God has led us and trusting Him to lead us still.

Stones of Remembrance #2 - Stones at Achor
In Joshua 7, after Israel's defeat at Ai due to Achan's sin, a pile of stones was erected over Achan's body as a lasting reminder of the consequences of disobedience. This served as a tangible representation of sin and its repercussions. A modern proverb says, “Those who do not know history are doomed to repeat it.” God takes sin seriously. Every sin is an act of rebellion against him. It is wise for us to set up stones of remembrance that not only remind us of God’s mercy, but also warn us against falling into sin as they did (cf. 1 Corinthians 10:1-13). A study of Joshua 7:1, 10-26.

Stones of Remembrance #1 - Stones at Bethel
In Genesis 28, as Jacob left home for fear of his life, God encountered him at Bethel. There, God assured Jacob that he was still his God, despite his sin, and would bring him back. Jacob set up a stone of remembrance there to remember and recall God's faithfulness. On Pentecost, God, the Holy Spirit, came to the disciples just as Jesus had promised. On this festival day, we commemorate the coming of the Holy Spirit to the disciples by setting up a stone of remembrance to the God who still comes to meet us. Genesis 28:10-22
