Cotie's training focuses on  creating a friendly and inclusive space in order to help the 2SLGBTQ+  community get started with their fitness. He works with individuals who  are new and/or scared to make their first steps in a gym setting  creating that bridge from precontemplation to action/maintenance. Kate Andrews is the Chair of the CSEP Professional Standards Program® and is also the Chair of the personal fitness trainer program at the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology.

She's  been honoured to  help others improve their health and quality of life  through physical  activity within several populations including emergency  response  occupations, professional and varsity athletes, those with  permanent  disabilities, chronic health conditions, pregnancy, and all  ages. A  member of the Canadian Society of Exercise Physiology since 2003, she is  a Certified Exercise Physiologist, a Certified Tobacco Educator, and a  300 hour Certified Yoga Instructor.

Alan Selby hosts Sprint Coach Derek Hansen in Episode 21! Derek is a NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist that has been working with athletes all ages and abilities in speed, strength and power sports since 1988. His coaching career started in Track and Field, providing instruction to sprinters of all ages eventually working with collegiate sprinters, hurdlers and jumpers. His career evolved rapidly working closely with  some of the top performers in the world as a coach and a consultant – including Olympic medalists, world record holders, Canadian National  team athletes, and professional athletes from numerous sports. He worked as the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach for Simon Fraser  University for 14 years, the first non-US member of the NCAA. He also serves as a performance consultant to numerous professional teams in the  NFL, NBA, MLS and NHL, as well as major NCAA Division 1 programs throughout North America, specializing in speed development, strategic  performance planning, return-to-competition protocols and neuromuscular electrical stimulation programming.

Episode 20 of CSEP Podcast features Dr. Duncan French. Dr. French is globally recognized as a leading expert and has over 20 years of experience working with elite professional and Olympic athletes. Duncan is the vice President of Performance at the UFC Performance Institute (UFCPI), and is responsible for directing performance interfaces to approximately 600 athletes, as well as managing the state of the art high-performance facilities in Las Vegas. He earned his PhD in Kinesiology from the University of Connecticut in 2004 with research interests in the optimization of human performance, neuroendocrine responses to resistance training, strength diagnostics, and the mechanisms of recovery and regeneration.

This episode focuses on combat sport preparation, Dr. French's evidence based approaches to the sport of Mixed Martial Arts and the unique training atmosphere of the UFC Performance Institute.

Jeff Osadec, MKin, CSEP-CEP and CSCS joins us for Episode 17! Jeff has coached for the past 15 years working with athletes both development and national level. He holds degrees in Exercise and Sport Science from the University of Manitoba and a Masters in Kinesiology from the University of Calgary. Ryan Van Asten, Strength and Conditioning Coach for the Calgary Flames, joins host Alan Selby to discuss his career progression, training philosophies and advice for young training coaches who want to becoming involved in the National Hockey League. Ryan is in his sixth season with the Calgary Flames, coordinating the overall strength and conditioning and sport science programs for the team. Prior to joining the Calgary Flames, Ryan spent three seasons with the Los Angeles Kings hockey team, as their strength and conditioning coach-winning 2 Stanley cups in 2012 and 2014. Host Alan Selby sits down with Syl Lemelin, Supervisor of the Fitness and Active Lifestyle Unit of the Edmonton Police Services. Syl has over 20 years experience in police fitness, personal training and strength conditioning. He oversees the physical abilities testing of police applicants, recruits, and fitness assessment of sworn members. Before working with the Edmonton Police Services, Syl worked as a Division Fitness and Lifestyle Advisor for the RCMP in Manitoba and Nunavut. He assisted in the development of the ERTPARE- a special tactical physical abilities evaluation for SWAT members. 

Syl is a CSEP-CEP, Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist and a Tactical Strength and Conditioning Facilitator.
