Quarterfinal action is underway, with the real Carlos Alcaraz delivering a Wimbledon masterclass on Centre Court to dispatch Great Britain’s Cam Norrie. Alcaraz will now face Taylor Fritz, who overcame a third-set stumble to defeat Karen Khachanov and reach his second Grand Slam semifinal in the last 12 months, climbing back to No. 4 in the live rankings. But is he too reliant on his canon of a serve? Meanwhile, electronic line-calling sparked more controversy when an errant ‘Fault!’ call disrupted a crucial point, adding to a growing list of technological mishaps this fortnight.
On the women’s side, Aryna Sabalenka kept her quest for a maiden Wimbledon title alive with a dramatic, last-gasp win over grass-court specialist Laura Siegemund. Amanda Anisimova also booked her place in the semifinals — her first at a Grand Slam since 2019 — with a tense victory over Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova to continue her stellar season. Joel and Chris also look ahead to the second day of quarterfinals and get up to speed on all the fallout from the past 24 hours since Jannik Sinner and Grigor Dimitrov abruptly exited the court.
