Christopher Mitchell was born in Queens, New York, and studied at both Florida International University and Pratt Institute. He has been visiting Haiti since childhood to see family, and while he began photographing Carnival during those visits, it wasn’t until moving to Haiti full-time in 2008 that he deeply immersed himself in documenting and interviewing for Kanaval and Souvenance.
