Reading the Gospel
John's Epilogue
In this episode, we explore the closing verses of John’s Gospel, emphasizing that the Bible is not intended as a complete biography of Jesus but as a divine revelation leading us to faith and salvation. The eternal life is offered not “by works” or religious checklists, but through accepting the gift of Jesus Christ and growing in a relationship with Him. We should shift the central focus from simply knowing facts about Jesus to experiencing His presence personally in everyday life, by reading Scripture regularly, praying, serving others, and following God’s guidance throughout the day. Practical steps include cultivating daily time in the Word, looking for opportunities to serve, and inviting God into all moments of life, which deepen faith and make spiritual life vibrant and personal.

The Ascension
This event explores the transformation from doubt and fear to great joy and worship that occurs when Jesus went back to heaven, emphasizing that the joy of God’s kingdom is accessible now, not just in the future. The Ascension is a reminder that through the Holy Spirit, Jesus’ presence remains constant and accessible in our daily lives, offering assurance, purpose, and hope. Practically, this means focusing on sharing good news and blessings, experiencing God’s presence in familiar places, and living with the continual assurance of salvation. The call is to embrace discipleship by accepting Jesus daily, sharing experiences with others, and letting our actions glorify God, trusting that Jesus will one day return as promised.

Great Commission
This episode reflects on the meaning and significance of the Great Commission from Matthew 28 and Mark 16. Jesus emphasizes His authority to command us to go and make disciples, to baptize them, and teach them as He instructed His 12 and 72 disciples. Doubt, even after experiencing God, is part of the human experience, but recalling past evidences of God’s presence builds faith and confidence during uncertain times. Our challenge is not just to develop a good character, to serve, help, or do good works, but to lead others into a discipleship relationship with Jesus, trusting in His continual presence. It requires constant openness to being used by God in unique ways to share Jesus, using personal gifts and experiences, and relying on the promise that Jesus is always present, especially when stepping out in faith.

Do You Love Me
This episode explores Jesus’ conversation with Peter, after breakfast on the lakeshore, and His repeated question, “Do you love me?” Each question invites deeper reflection about loving Jesus more than careers or relationships that might compete for our devotion. Everyone has something to surrender when called to follow Jesus. However, God can also use old passions or skills for ministry if yielded to Him. When Jesus predicts Peter’s future and points to his specific path, it’s a reminder that every relationship with God is unique and personal, not shaped by comparisons with others. God works in each life differently, calling for faithfulness and surrender, trusting that He will complete the good work He started in us.

Appearance by the Sea
Jesus appears to the disciples by the Sea of Galilee as they return to their familiar routines of fishing, waiting for Jesus. This episode explores how Jesus provides for us - even when we feel disappointed or unsuccessful - and how He invites us into relationship and service without requiring anything in return. We are invited to learn to recognize God’s presence in our daily lives, even when it takes repeated encounters, and to respond to His guidance and provision with trust and readiness, rather than hesitation or delay. This story challenges us to open our eyes to God’s work around us and to surrender to Him the first time He calls.

Appearance to Thomas
In this episode, we reflect on Thomas’s initial skepticism and his need for tangible evidence before he could believe in the resurrection, while recognizing that Jesus graciously met Thomas’s need for proof. Faith is often a gradual journey that requires varying degrees of evidence, and God lovingly tailors His revelation to what each of us needs. We should share spiritual truth with patience, understanding that belief often grows through repeated encounters and evidence. Seeking God in scripture, nature, history, and among godly people, knowing that our own journey - and those we reach out to - may involve gradual steps toward deeper faith and recognition of God’s presence.

Appearance to Disciples
In this episode, we examine how Jesus appeared to his disciples after his resurrection, offering reassurance to those who were fearful and uncertain. Even when faced with overwhelming evidence, faith often grows gradually, as the disciples needed time to recognize the risen Jesus and understand His words. The main teaching is that our understanding of God deepens through ongoing study of the Scripture and daily experience, much like growing in a relationship. This encourages us to stay connected to God’s word and community, especially when life feels uncertain or our expectations are challenged. Our faith journey is not just for ourselves, but it equips us to share hope and truth with others, starting right where we are. Just as the disciples were called to be witnesses, we are called to wait for the empowering presence of the Holy Spirit before stepping out in mission.

The Road to Emaus
This episode explores the story of Jesus appearing to two disciples on the road to Emmaus and how they initially failed to recognize Him despite His presence and teaching. The disciples were preoccupied with their disappointment and confusion, illustrating how our own emotions and inward focus can sometimes blind us to God’s work in our lives. This story emphasizes that Jesus met them where they were, walking alongside them and explaining the Scriptures, yet it was only through an act of hospitality - inviting Him to stay - that their eyes were opened, and they recognized Him in the breaking of bread. The practical application is clear: by being deliberate in looking for God’s presence and acting with generosity and hospitality toward others, we open ourselves to experiencing His blessings and guidance, even in times of darkness or confusion.

Mary at the Tomb
In this episode, we explore the story of Mary Magdalene at the empty tomb, focusing on her encounter with the risen Jesus. We see how Mary’s initial confusion and grief were transformed into hope and recognition when she heard Jesus call her by name, a reminder that sometimes we must turn our attention and hearts more than once to experience God’s presence in our lives. We also discuss the importance of expectations and faith: just as Mary mistook Jesus for the gardener until she recognized his voice, we too may overlook moments of divine encounter if we are not open and attentive. This story encourages us to remain persistent in our pursuit of spiritual truth, to be open to unexpected blessings, and to cultivate a mindset that seeks God’s work in our everyday experiences. By doing so, we can experience deeper faith and hope, especially in times of uncertainty or loss.

The Resurrection
This episode examines the event of Jesus' resurrection, primarily as described in Matthew 28. We learn about the women arriving at the tomb after the Sabbath, the great earthquake, the angel descending to roll away the stone and announcing that Jesus "has risen as He said," terrifying the guards but giving the women hope. We see the chief priests and elders bribing the guards to spread a false story that the disciples stole the body, illustrating that spreading fake news or planting false memories is an ancient practice. Human efforts could not contain God's power; the grave could not hold Jesus. The resurrection is the central pillar of our belief system and the foundation of our hope. A crucial lesson is how the same divine action affects people differently based on the state of their hearts, like sunlight on clay versus ice; we are encouraged to watch our hearts. Our spiritual journey is not meant to end at the cross but calls us to follow the resurrected and ascended Jesus. Getting to know God is key to starting this journey and experiencing the transformation He offers.

Sealing the Tomb
In this episode, we examined how the chief priests and Pharisees went to Pilate the day after Jesus' crucifixion, remembering Jesus' prophecy that He would rise after three days. Fearing his disciples would steal the body and claim a resurrection, they asked for the tomb to be secured. Pilate told them they had a guard and instructed them to "make it as secure as you can." They meticulously followed through, deciding how to secure the tomb by sealing the stone and setting a guard, explicitly doing "everything possible to secure it." This event teaches us today that our attempts to "seal the tomb" on something God intends to do are futile, as His power overcomes any human barrier. Furthermore, their restlessness and lack of peace, even after achieving their goal of crucifying Jesus, reveal that true peace does not come from suppressing or running from what God brings to light or prompts in our conscience but from drawing closer to Him.

We also reflect on the significance of giving one's "best" to Jesus, the surprise of Pilate at Jesus's death, and how God's actions may differ from our human expectations. We emphasize the importance of understanding the Bible to align expectations with God's will and conclude the event with the image of the women lingering at the tomb after the burial.

Jesus' Death
This episode begins with Jesus' cry of abandonment and the subsequent events, including the tearing of the temple curtain, the earthquake, and the resurrection of saints. Jesus' death was not caused by the crucifixion itself but by the weight of sin and separation from God. Jesus' experience of the second death which is complete disconnection from God. The darkness that covered the land during Jesus' crucifixion symbolizes God's presence, not God's absence. The tearing of the temple curtain is the fulfillment of the sacrificial system, signifying that Jesus' death was the ultimate sacrifice, eliminating the need for further animal sacrifices. In the last part, we reflect on the transformative impact of Jesus' death and its meaning for our lives today.

The Crucifiction
This event about the crucifixion starts with Jesus being led away and Simon of Sirene being seized to carry the cross behind him. As Jesus is crucified alongside two criminals, he prays for forgiveness for those who do not know what they are doing. The passage highlights the significance of Jesus laying down his life, emphasizing that without his sacrifice, humanity would have no substitute to pay for their sins. The story also touches on the power of the Roman Empire and the impact of carrying others' burdens, as seen in Simon's life. It discusses the mourning of women who followed Jesus, the mocking he endured, and the fulfillment of Old Testament prophecies. This episode concludes with the interaction between Jesus and the two thieves, illustrating the message of forgiveness and the assurance of eternal life for those who seek Him even in the last minutes of their lives.

Back to Pilate
In this episode, the second trial before Pilate is being examined. Despite Pilate's attempts to release Jesus, he succumbs to the crowd's demands. Pilate offers to release Jesus, but the crowd demands Barabbas instead. Pilate's wife warns him through a dream, adding to his internal conflict. Pilate finds no guilt in Jesus, yet he is pressured by the crowd and his own fears, ultimately allowing Jesus to be crucified. The episode highlights Pilate's struggle between his moral conscience and fear for his position, the crowd's shift from welcoming Jesus to demanding his crucifixion, and the profound example of Jesus' character and sacrifice. The discussion emphasizes the importance of standing up for one's convictions and the role of the Holy Spirit in helping believers maintain strong character and faithfulness in both small and significant matters.

Before Herod
This episode is about the trial of Jesus before Herod. On one side, Herod is excited to meet Jesus, hoping to witness a miracle, but ultimately mocked and treated Jesus with contempt when He remained silent. This reveals the duality of Herod's character, contrasting his desire to see Jesus with his previous actions, such as the execution of John the Baptist. We reflect on the broader implications of moral contradictions in our lives today, drawing parallels between Herod's behavior and the concept of cultural Christianity. Let’s pray for authenticity in our faith and actions.

Judas' Death
In this episode, we read about the story of Judas' death as described in Matthew 27. We analyze Judas' change of mind after betraying Jesus and the concept of repentance, with genuine repentance involving a heartfelt realization of wrongdoing and a desire to turn back to God. We explore the difference between regret and genuine repentance, noting that Judas' actions were outside of God's will. We also look at the reaction of the chief priests to the blood money and the prophecy that foretold these events. We conclude by reflecting on the importance of recognizing our sins and seeking forgiveness through the Holy Spirit rather than succumbing to shame and despair.

Before the Council
In this episode, we focus on the event when Jesus is brought before the assembly of elders, chief priests, and scribes called the Council or Sanhedrin. They question Him about being the Christ or Messiah. He says that from "now on," the Son of Man will be seated at the right hand of the power of God. Jesus' titles, the Son of God and the Son of Man, refer to His divine and human natures. We learn that seeing beyond our present trials and temptations is important, anchoring our hope in the future reality of being seated with Christ in heaven. This story reveals the dangers of having a warped theology, as exemplified by the religious leaders who condemned Jesus and emphasizes the need for a correct understanding of God through the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

Peter's Denial
In this episode, we discuss how Peter denies knowing Jesus three times despite being warned by Him hours before. Peter's denial is a profound moment that highlights the weakness of human nature and the intense emotions that can lead us to act impulsively. We reflect on the significance of the rooster crowing, which serves as a reminder to Peter of his actions and previous conversation with Jesus. The "rooster" still crows today, mainly through the moral conscience and physiological feedback. We emphasize the importance of seeking forgiveness and moving forward in our spiritual journey, even when we stumble. This event triggers personal experiences, inviting us to reflect on the parallels between Peter's story and our own struggles with faith and obedience.
