Mike Lee opens up about his profound journey with mental health, detailing the significant challenges he faced, including severe anxiety and depression. These struggles stemmed from both personal and professional pressures, which began during a particularly stressful period in his career.
Mike recounts the physical manifestations of his mental health issues, such as insomnia, lack of appetite, and constant fatigue, which exacerbated his emotional state and impacted his daily life and relationships.
A pivotal moment in Mike's journey occurred when he hit rock bottom and realized the necessity of significant changes in his lifestyle and mindset. He sought professional help, including therapy and counseling, which provided him with tools to manage his anxiety and depression. Finding a therapist who understood and supported his specific needs was crucial to his recovery. In addition to traditional therapy, Mike explored alternative treatments and self-help strategies, becoming an advocate for mindfulness practices such as meditation and yoga. These practices helped him regain control over his thoughts and emotions, while regular physical exercise served as a therapeutic outlet.
Mike also addresses the societal stigma associated with mental health, particularly for men who are often expected to suppress their emotions. He emphasizes the importance of breaking these stigmas by sharing experiences and seeking support without shame.
Throughout the podcast, Mike's journey is portrayed not just as a personal struggle but as a call to action for greater mental health awareness and support. He encourages creating a supportive environment where individuals can openly discuss their mental health without fear of judgment. By sharing his story, Mike hopes to normalize conversations about mental health and inspire others to prioritize their well-being.

Have Fun. Serve Others. Celebrate.
The post COVID workplace has changed, or has it?
As much as things change, things stay the same. Everyone wants to maximize their time. Being efficient on the job while enjoying life do NOT have to be mutually exclusive.
Ryan Estis, author of “Prepare for Impact – Driving Growth and Serving Others through the Principles of Human-Centered Leadership’, is one of the most respected voices in the United States regarding Leadership, Team Building and Personal Development.
Estis is convinced that work and life can be and should be fun and enjoyed. How to we make sure that happens? Getting back to “the basics”, “the fundamentals”. Work Burnout and Unhealthy Relationships can occur when we get away from the basics of honoring each other by giving grace and respect. Intentionality Matters.
Compassion. Action. Sympathy. Empathy.
As a basketball coach (retired), I always wanted the players on my team to know their value to the team and to know that they are valued by me. That was fundamental to establishing a culture of winning.
Estis discusses these fundamentals and more on today’s podcast.

You will NEVER walk again. You will NEVER do that again. For many who have experienced a traumatic event (i.e. Spinal Cord Injury, Brain Injury), the above statements are often the prognosis, leaving them without hope. Thanks to Dr. Kyle Daigle, the narrative is changing. “For people who refuse to accept NEVER as an answer”, Dr. Kyle Daigle uses an innovative approach to neurological recovery with Laser Therapy, Primitive reflexing and Nerve Stimulation. He is passionate and committed to restore health against all odds. Dr. Daigle, a former college baseball player, was introduced to service on the playgrounds of St. Charles, Louisiana by his mother, a teacher who overcame her disabilities to work with children with Down Syndrome. After school, his mother would bring some of her students to the local playground and Kyle and his brother would play with them. A simple activity that shaped Dr. Daigle’s belief in the dignity of every person he encounters, and if possible make their lives better. His story to becoming the Co-Founder of NeuroSolution and one of the top Chiropractors in his field, (in the world) is a remarkable story. Born in Iran, Dr. Amir Rashidian witnessed firsthand the atrocities of war. The Iranian government was overthrown. Iran became the Islamic Republic of Iran and the world as he knew it changed. He was 6-years old when Saddam Hussein’s Iraq invaded Iran and thus began the air-raids and bombings. Amir’s father wanted to bring his family to America. Every summer Amir’s father would take their family to a different European country with the hopes of obtaining a visa to the United States. Each time they met rejection and had to return home. Finally, at age 11, Amir’s family was given permission to enter the United States of America. In August of 1985, Amir and his mother landed in Los Angeles with two suitcases and $500. Before leaving Iran, Amir’s dad wanted to teach him about poverty and life in the underprivileged regions of Iran. It was here that Dr Amir Rashidian decided to become a doctor, to save lives and prevent unnecessary death he witnessed in the village. Specifically, a young pregnant woman die in her husband arm, because there were no Doctors there. Dr. Amir’s journey to fulfilling his childhood declaration contains many twists and turns. HIS STORY INSPIRED ME. HIS FAITH ENCOURAGED ME.
On November 2, 2011, Vincent Rutley, actor, playwright and musician, survived a near fatal accident that severed his spinal cord. Diagnosed as a paraplegic with traumatic brain damage, the doctors prepared him for the worst by telling him he would never move his arms or legs again. He viewed this tragedy as an “Assignment” not a “Punishment”.
Vincent Rutley comes from a strong family of faith, and has a strong personal relationship with God, so in the doctor’s report didn’t deter them from expecting the best. Believing that God would perform a miracle, Vincent began his journey of recovery.
It was a few weeks after his surgery, that the miracles began. Feeling and slight movement in his right arm, became a full range of motion. Later, his left arm and wrist became functional.
In 2014 Vincent returned to the stage play production “Street Corner “which he wrote, produces and starred in, from his wheelchair. “Your disability doesn’t change the fact that God made you, YOU! The journey may be 10 times tough, but you can fulfill your wildest dreams. The car accident didn’t paralyze my love for acting. I didn’t lose my love for acting because I use a wheelchair now.
Vincent Rutley doesn’t deny the reality of the challenges that come with his spinal cord injury, but he refuses to let it dictate the quality of his life. He has learned to lean on his support system, spearheaded by his wife, who he was engaged to at the time of the accident. His goal is to become the most sought-after quadriplegic actor in the business.
Thirteen years after the accident, Vincent Rutley still believes that God will work a miracle and he will walk again. In the meantime, he is committed to living life to the fullest.

The Story of an adopted black hockey player
Being adopted can be an uncomfortable conversation, but not for Anthony Walsh, author of the children’s book “Hockey is for Everybody.” Raised in Minnesota, Anthony was introduced to Hockey at a young age by his adopted parents. (“Mom & Dad”). When asked about his experience growing up as an adopted child, he is glowingly states he is grateful for being raised in a loving, nurturing and progressive family. However, as the only African-American and adopted player on his hockey teams, hearing teammates talk about their parents, grandparents, etc., Anthony wanted to know who he was, where he was from…his biological family. He wanted to be able to give an answer to the Doctor when asked about his “family medical history”. Anthony’s journey of self -discovery took years but ended with him finding his biological family before going to law School. He found the missing piece and missing peace in his life. A bonus was learning he was related to the great Marvin Gaye. Anthony, an attorney in Minnesota, is proud to be the product of a “blended family.” He has embraced all aspects of his life experiences and continues to use Hockey as a platform for change.
