Permission to Pause (But Not to Quit): Navigating Motherhood, Business, and Self-Worth

Last week, there was no episode. I was sick, traveling, visiting family and honestly, I just didn’t have it in me.

This week, I’m talking about giving yourself grace as a mother founder, giving yourself permission to pause…but not mistaking that pause for permission to quit. Because when you fall off the wagon, it’s tempting to just stay there, but the world needs your voice - especially the voices of mothers building businesses.

In this episode, I share:

  • Why it’s okay to pause without spiraling into guilt

  • How childhood experiences and “worthiness wounds” can resurface in entrepreneurship and motherhood

  • What this slow week taught me about letting go of overachievement

  • The supplement that’s made a huge difference for me (and why finding your thing matters)

  • Normalizing the long, messy road back to yourself after having kids, especially without a maternity leave

If you’re in a season of slowing down, this is your reminder that it’s not a sign of failure, it’s a sign you’re human.

🎧 Listen now and let’s normalize rest without quitting.

Mother Founder Musings
When Leadership Feels Lonely (And Why I Hate My Dogs)

In this week’s episode of Mother Founder Musings, I’m getting honest about the parts of motherhood and entrepreneurship that no one really prepares you for.

From the guilt of sending my preschooler to childcare when he’s saying he doesn’t want to go, to the overwhelming mental load of traveling with kids, to the surprising resentment I feel toward my dogs (yes, really), I’m unpacking it all.

I also dive into:

💛 Why the “freedom” of entrepreneurship isn’t always what it seems

💛 The invisible weight of being the glue for everyone kids

💛 How leadership can feel lonelier the bigger your team gets

💛 The difference between building something that works and building something that matters

And, as always, I close with a shout‑out to another inspiring mother founder: Vera Milan Gervais, author of The Wordz We Wear, who’s been blazing this trail for decades.

If you’ve ever found yourself feeling tapped out, overwhelmed by dependents (furry or otherwise), or lonely in your leadership role, this one’s for you. You are not alone.

Showing Up in the Dark: What’s Heavy and What Helps Me Keep Going

I almost didn’t hit record on this one.
Lately I’ve been in a really dark season. Physically, mentally, emotionally. Showing up online (or anywhere) has felt impossible. I talk about what I’m not posting right now (spoiler: nothing), why creating when you’re in a raw and vulnerable space feels so complicated, and how social media can amplify those feelings of not being good enough.

But this episode isn’t just about the heavy.
It’s also about the little glimmers that keep me going as both a mother and a founder. Those moments that remind me why I keep showing up even when it’s hard.

In this episode, I share:
💛 The reality of balancing motherhood, entrepreneurship, and my own health struggles
💛 Why showing up when things feel heavy matters to me (and maybe to you)
💛 The power of finding even one person who truly gets it (and why that didn’t happen for me on the first try)
💛 The glimmers that are keeping me going right now, including:

  • Having a mentor who sees and understands me
  • A beautiful Mother Founder call that reminded me why this movement matters
  • A drawing from my illustrator’s daughter that lit me up inside

💛 A heartfelt shout out to Dr. Alexis Reid of Eco Chic Movement. Her kindness and expertise got me through one of my hardest seasons as a mom.

If you’re in a dark or difficult season yourself, this episode is for you. You’re not alone

They Said Pick One, I Chose Both: My Story as a Mother and a Founder

Before the weekly musings begin, I wanted to share the story behind it all; the real, layered path that led me to entrepreneurship, motherhood, and eventually, the Mother Founder Movement. In this episode, I open up about:
• Growing up in a military family and craving stability
• A life-changing injury that derailed my plans
• Why I built Bowda Creative Co. as a remote-first business long before it was the norm
• Navigating chronic pain, high-risk pregnancies, and becoming the breadwinner
• What pushed me to write Mom’s Business Baby and how that book sparked a movement
• Why I’m tired of “mompreneur” stereotypes and what I want Mother Founder Musings to beThis isn’t a polished pitch. It’s a voice note from the middle of building a business, raising kids, and figuring it out in real time.If you’ve ever felt like you’re doing both (and doing it alone) this space is for you.
