We live in environments designed to overstimulate us, yet wonder why anxiety and depression rates are skyrocketing. What if the spaces we inhabitdaily are actively dysregulating our nervous systems? And what if technology—rather than being part of the problem—could become our greatest tool for prevention? Can virtual reality actually heal us, or are we just addingmore digital noise to an already overwhelming world?

We're naturally wired to sync with others: our heartbeats, brain waves, and emotions align when we connect. But modern life is breaking this biological superpower. Originally from Florida and now based in Seville, Spain, Megan has worked with hundreds of brands worldwide, emphasizing empathy, connection, and practical brain science applications to improve collaboration and interpersonal synchrony.
Today, expect to learn:
• What synchrony really is and why our brains naturally align with others during interaction
• How synchronized movements, emotions, heartbeats, and brain waves boost empathy and cooperation
• Why smartphone use and social isolation are destroying our capacity for human connection
• How an eight-week intervention increased empathy between Israeli and Palestinian teenagers through brainwave synchrony
• Why empathy works like a muscle that gets stronger or weaker based on use
• How to deliberately foster synchrony through eye contact, music, movement, and shared goals
• What "group flow" means and how it creates optimal collaborative states
• How to apply these insights in workplaces and remote settings for better teamwork
• Why addressing societal polarization requires rebuilding our biological connection capacity
Synchrony represents our evolutionary advantage for survival through cooperation. Research shows it develops faster between bonded individuals but can emerge among strangers working toward shared goals. Understanding these mechanisms offers practical pathways for improving relationships, reducing social tensions, and creating more empathetic societies through conscious interaction design.

Most of us dread networking events - the awkward small talk, the transactional feel, the pressure to "sell yourself." But what if networking could actually be joyful? Mike Adams has cracked the code after attending over 1,000 networking events and transforming from a shy programmer into a master connector.

Mike Adams is a seasoned serial networker and founder of IntroStars, a platform that rewards business introducers for successful referrals. With 30 years of experience in sales and marketing at leading tech companies such as HP, Apple, and Zoom, Mike has attended over 1,000 networking events and transformed from a shy introvert into an expert connector passionate about helping people build meaningful business relationships. His startup IntroStars is a unique two-sided referral marketplace that allows professionals to earn referral fees by making warm introductions that lead to deals, thereby monetizing the value of their networks.
Today, expect to learn:
• How Mike transformed from a shy programmer into a networking expert who's attended 1000+ events
• Why most people approach networking completely wrong and what mindset shift changes everything
• The practical strategies that work best at networking events (including where to stand and what questions to ask)
• How AI and digital spam are making authentic face-to-face connections more valuable than ever
• Why curiosity and genuine interest in others beats any sales technique
• How introstars is revolutionizing referral marketing by paying people for warm introductions
• The ethical framework Mike uses to build lasting business relationships
• Why networking should feel joyful rather than transactional
• How to monetize your network without compromising relationships
Referral marketing operates on the principle that warm introductions are significantly more effective than cold outreach, with studies showing referral leads convert at much higher rates. The rise of AI-generated content and digital spam has created what experts call "message fatigue," making authentic human connections increasingly valuable in business contexts. This trend supports Mike's philosophy that genuine relationship-building trumps digital tactics.

Kenneth Erhahon, known as Shocka, is a British rapper and mental health advocate from Tottenham, London, best known as one-third of the grime collective Marvell. After facing severe mental health challenges—including multiple hospitalizations and a diagnosis of paranoid schizophrenia—he transformed his personal struggles into a mission to raise awareness about mental health, particularly within the Black community. Through his music, public speaking, and advocacy, Shocka promotes vulnerability as strength, emphasizing self-love, forgiveness, and the importance of connection to overcome loneliness and stigma. His album "Vulnerability Is The New Cool" reflects his mission to destigmatize mental health struggles.
Today, expect to learn:
• Why Shocka was sectioned four times and how the mental health system failed him
• How loneliness has become a hidden epidemic killing more people than physical diseases
• Why the spiritual dimension of mental health is overlooked due to stigma around "non-normal" experiences
• How forgiveness of self and others became foundational to his healing process
• Why vulnerability needs to become "cool," especially for Black men
• How music serves as a healing instrument beyond what words can accomplish
• What it means to live as a "key" that opens doors rather than a "padlock" that keeps them shut
• How celebrating small wins and keeping commitments to yourself builds mental resilience
• Why sharing imperfect truths publicly counters perfectionism and reduces stigma
Mental health sectioning involves involuntary detention in psychiatric facilities under mental health laws when someone is deemed a risk to themselves or others. Paranoid schizophrenia is characterized by delusions and hallucinations, often involving persecution themes. Grime is a genre of electronic music that emerged from London in the early 2000s, characterized by aggressive lyrics and syncopated beats.

We tend to confuse empathy with sympathy, and so, fail to develop our EQ. No one wants to admit this though - and so we go around acting with low EQ, low empathy, and therefore, low leadership capability, because leadership is about people, which requires that ability to understand them. Luckily, there's something you can do about it.

Faris Aranki is the Founder and CEO of Shiageto Consulting, bringing over 20 years of experience in helping companies, teams, and individuals sharpen effectiveness through strategic leadership and emotional intelligence. His career began as a school teacher in Latin America and London before transitioning to senior strategy roles in global organizations. Today, expect to learn why most people fail despite having brilliant ideas and strategies.
Community Notes:
Emotional Intelligence (EQ) research shows strong links between EQ and leadership effectiveness, team cohesion, and business success. Focus Quotient (FQ) addresses the critical need to manage distractions in our age of information overload. Gamification in learning and work has empirical support for improving engagement through dopamine release and motivation. The multiplicative model aligns with modern leadership science showing success requires balancing cognitive skill, emotional connection, and disciplined execution.

Listen in to this one, where our guest used our host as an example and DEMOLISHES how he uses his story and marketing to build a business 😅

Saskia Wheeler is a science communicator specializing in neuroscience as applied to mental wellbeing. She translates neuroscience research into practical, human-centered tools that support healthier minds and environments. At Kyan Health, she collaborates with organizations to foster cultures emphasizing psychological safety, collective resilience, and long-term wellbeing.
Her academic background combines Neuroaesthetics and Creativity (MSc, Goldsmiths) with Philosophy of Mind and Aesthetics (MA, Trinity College Dublin), bridging neuroscience, design, and human experience to apply science-led strategies in workplace wellbeing and environmental influence on cognition, emotion, and performance.
Today, expect to learn:
• What the three brain networks involved in creativity actually do and why they rarely work together
• Why creative people have "attenuated latent inhibition" and can't filter out irrelevant information like others
• How this relates to ADHD and why neurodivergent minds often show enhanced creativity
• Why survival mode brain states completely shut down creative thinking• How AI tools might be rewiring our brains in concerning ways by reducing cognitive effort
• What "neuroaesthetics" reveals about how our physical environment affects our mental state
• Practical methods to regulate your nervous system and shift from survival to creation mode
• How psychological safety helps you to better regulate emotions and how that can support better creativity
• How to redesign your environment and habits to support your brain's creative networks
