Season 2 Episode 5: In Conversation with Abhilash Balan, LifeVR: Exploring VR's Impact on Events and Beyond!

In this episode, we discuss the latest trends and innovations across industries. Having followed LifeVR’s pioneering work in capturing and elevating events using VR technology, I believe this would bring tremendous insight to the listeners.

Apple Vision Pro went on sale in February, but the product has struggled to gain traction. With a starting price of $3,500 in the US, most of its customers are tech enthusiasts. For Apple, this also means that there aren’t many developers interested in building apps for visionOS – and perhaps only a cheaper model would change that. We also talk a bit about Google Cardboard, Oculus, Lytro, Microsoft Hololens, Meta and Sony PS VR.
With LifeVR successfully transforming experiences across South India—from concerts and royal weddings to corporate events—the scope and potential of your work in VR are fascinating. I’d love to explore topics such as:
- Challenges in VR Adoption: From Apple’s high-priced VR headset with limited apps to Meta’s pivot into the metaverse, how do you see the future of consumer VR and what can be done to increase adoption?
- User Experience in VR: We often hear about nausea and dizziness when using VR headsets. What steps are being taken to improve user comfort and provide a more immersive experience?
- Lessons in Making LifeVR Profitable: As you’ve successfully turned LifeVR into a profitable venture, what key learnings have shaped your journey?
- Potential of VR in Industries: From wedding VR and tourism to factory walkthroughs and real estate, how do you see VR reshaping different industries and what opportunities lie ahead?

This conversation will not only shed light on the evolution of VR technology but also open up exciting avenues for collaboration and management consulting opportunities in the AR/VR/XR space.

Season 2 Episode 4: In Conversation with Francisco Avalos Jr.: Let's Talk Mathematics in Sports!

In this episode, we explore the impact of mathematics in sports, from player statistics to match and game play analysis. We’ll dive into our experience transitioning from an amateur to a semi-professional in sports data analysis, offering advice to college undergrads interested in starting. Additionally, we’ll touch on the parallels between fantasy leagues and real sports, and how platforms like Kaggle and GitHub can help aspiring analysts gain visibility. We’ll also reflect on the influence of Moneyball in bringing mathematical analysis into the spotlight.About Francisco: (in his words)I'm Francisco Avalos Jr. and I currently work in the Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Network space as an analyst. I have a passion for data analysis--in all its facets. For example, I lend my free time to serve as a statistical consultant for Statistics Without Borders--a non profit organization of the American Statistical Association. Personally, I have a passion for the analytical side of most sports, with a key interest in basketball and baseball. These interests have led to personal projects driven by my fantasy sport involvements. https://youtu.be/GhmTh5aJQaY?feature=shared

Season 2 Episode 3: In Conversation With Shivam Gupta, TAOS: Step by Step to Saving the Planet!

About Shivam and the Affordable Organic Store

Shivam has been working in the startup ecosystem for more than 7 years and started the Affordable Organic Store in 2020. Prior to starting this, he has also worked in multiple startups like Ather and Sid’s Farm, and has worked in multiple countries.

At The Affordable Organic Store they are trying to help the balcony gardeners to do gardening at ease. Their products are customized to the needs of a small gardener with few pots in their balcony. Every product on their site is designed for a single pot starting from seeds to manure. They provide seeds sufficient for a pot so that there are no wastage and at the same time the cost comes down. They also sell plant sapling of exotic imported plants at almost 1/5th the cost of actual plant. By designing the products with a small gardener in mind, they have significantly reduced the costs and are almost 1/5th the cost of any other store.

Their motto is to encourage more people to take up gardening by reducing the cost barrier. They have enabled more than 3 lakh gardeners in the past 5 years. They also do weekend forest plantation, where with the help of volunteers in Hyderabad they are planting forest in nearby areas.

The company is bootstrapped and is driven by more than 80% women workforce. Their warehouse is entirely run by women team.
