In our second episode with Jimmy we talk about moral psychology... what is it, how Jimmy became interested in the subject and how it frames life for us now.

BOOK - The Righteous Mind - Jonathan Haidt
PODCAST - Dr. Martha Beck - Diary of a CEO
What started as an open, vulnerable chat about Sam's struggles she faces as an AuDHD person running her own business soon derailed into a chat about the ethics of AI, western politics, the climate crisis and a very desensitised version of existential dread (we're all gonna die anyway so.... whatever??)
Rambles, it's absolute rambles.
We chat with the incredible Lael Stone about a myriad of topics including:
- Leading a passion-led life: discovering what you love, finding people who have done it and learning from them - whilst not letting the "I can't"s get in the way
- Her incredible journey of opening a school that does it differently, Woodline Primary, and how she didn't let any "lack" of qualifications stop her
- Her thoughts on parenting: how to trust your kids, listen to your body wisdom and lead with compassion
This episode is so quotable! Another pod bestie in the bank.
Lael Stone is an Australian speaker, educator and author whose passion is supporting parents to understand their children, helping adults process their own childhood trauma and creating education systems that value emotional awareness.

Our guest this week is Jess's favourite person - her partner Jimmy!
We talk to Jimmy about his relationship with Jess, how they manage conflict and how they thrive together. Both sharing how self awareness, radical acceptance and unconditional positive regard help make this the best relationship both have ever been in.
Oh, and if you're not into mushy, gooey romantics - maybe skip this one... it's a lovefest!!
IHY Mentor & Bestie Tiff Cook from Roll With The Punches Podcast recently returned home after a soul changing experience in India .. we couldn't wait to get her back on for chit chats to hear all about it!

In the week leading up to Christmas, we need to debrief. Christmas and all the societal expectations have us tired. As two retired people-pleasers, we're trying a new tradition - to do less.
So what's important to us then, what's the minimum standard for Christmas? What actual brings joy around the holiday period?
Let's be honest guys, this is pretty much just a casual yap fest, but hey, y'all seem to enjoy it, so we'll keep giving it to ya. Xx
CW: child s*x abuse, r*pe, violence, armed hold ups, suicide
We have one of our listeners (and dear friends) Katie join us on the pod for a vast and deep discussion about, life, trauma and healing. Katie talks about how she held everything in until a moment at work brought her crashing down into full blown PTSD.
We talk about how she went on to change her whole life, leave a marriage, come out, go to therapy, parent through the chaos and build her new, beautiful existence.
Also - we recorded this on Wear It Purple Day (in August!!). We've been keeping it in the barrel for a while... whoops.
"Did we just become best friends?"
We adored our chat with Jacquie, and felt like we could have kept waffling on forever!
Jacquie is a Psychologist, Mum and now Published Author based in Sydney, Australia who works with children, adolescents and their families, with a special interest in supporting people who experience Sensory Processing Sensitivity, more commonly referred to as 'Highly Sensitive Kids/People'.
We learn about Jacquie's transition from a corporate career to psychology, the traits of and unique challenges faced by highly sensitive individuals, the impact of societal expectations, and the importance of compassion in parenting.
We found this conversation to be light, fun, warm, validating AND energising all at once (we felt ready to take on the world fueled by love, compassion and empathy), we decided that Jacquie is now one of our Pod Besties, we'll probably start a commune together some day and we trust you'll enjoy the side quests and tangents along the way!

We chat influencer life, baby Allira dreams, her body kindness journey, dealing with trolls and joining the cult of running.
So many good topics, so little time!
Our young boys and men have inherited a sexist culture that harms girls and women. They didn't create it, they're not responsible for it, but they did inherit it, and they are responsible for and in control of what they do with it. They have a conscious choice to make. Will they continue to contribute to a culture that is unsafe for women, or will they commit to creating a culture that is safe for everyone?
In this episode we chat with Dave Kramer, Ambassador for SmallSteps4Hannah and the InnerBoyApp, and Founder of The HALT Program.
Dave's life work is in honor of his best friend Hannah Clarke and her 3 young children, Aaliyah, Laianah & Trey, who were tragically murdered in February 2020 by Hannah's Ex Husband and Father of the children, Rowan Baxter.
Through unfathomable loss leading to painful self-reflection, Dave shares his deeply personal learnings and experiences about his own contribution as a male to sexist culture, his awareness of and accountability to changing that, and his ongoing commitment to educating others, particularly young people, about respectful relationships. Dave is also passionate about raising awareness of coercive control, a serious form of domestic abuse not widely understood, too often leading to a lack of accountability for the perpetrator, majority of whom are men.

Vulnerable chats today with Sam and Jess - quite often we wait until after we feel resolved in an issue to talk about it so frankly in the public eye, but we're skipping over it today and processing while it's happening.
Uncertainty can be a big, scary feeling, especially when it's relating to one of life's foundations (jobs, money, health etc.). Jess talks about her job and money instability and insecurities and Sam helps lead the conversation with some gentle fact checking. She truly is a good friend xx
Hellllloooooo!
It's been a little while... We have had some BIG LIFE STUFF happening and it's been a lot. This is a little life update + some chats about how capitalism is bad. You know, the usual xx

Fair warning - we've left in allllll of the utter nonsense of our normal conversations in. We lost count of how many times we lost our train of thought!
Yet somehow through it all, we end up having a rather robust conversation on self-awareness. How did we get there, how does it show up in our lives and tips on how to improve it...

Sam & Jess individually met Lena in Roxby Downs over 10yrs ago, and we were so excited to reunite for this epic pod floor chat. Lena now lives on a BOAT (from the desert to the ocean - talk about extremes!) and spends her time pushing herself through her limits emotionally, physically, mentally and spiritually so that she can serve community through the embodiment of her work as an educator across a holistic range of human centric practices. Lena is a certified (twice!) teacher in tantric principals, a registered counsellor, certified coach and personal trainer who works with people on their holistic wellness goals, teaching from a place of personal embodiment of her work. Sam shares her internal journey of cultivating self love through the development of self awareness. Calling out the problem in focusing on the external results (over 40kg of weight loss) as the focal point, cautious of contributing to body image issues caused by the 'before and after' process often perceived as 'good and bad', whilst acknowledging the power of using photos & imagery in bringing people into a conversation about achieving sustainable health. What a head fuck!
Ever see a human out in the wild and think "I reckon I'd be mates with that person if we got to know each other!"? Well, Sam did, and so she decided to reach out to Tiff and see whether she'd like to come chat on the pod in a live demonstration of 'making friends as adults', haha! Another experiment in giving ourselves permission to be our weird, awkward, authentic selves.
Tiff Cook is the host of Roll With The Punches, a podcast Sam has been following for a while now, which hosts incredible conversations with fascinating guests about all things life, growth & learning and .. well, a bit like what we're doing here at I Hear You.
If you can make it through the clunky editing job at the beginning of this chat (remember, we're fumbling proudly), I hope you enjoy listening to some banter and feel inspired to give yourself permission to reach out to that person you've been friend ogling, and live your authentic, natural, best adult friendship life!
Life's too short not to surround yourself with people you think will help you to learn, laugh and live better with.

Unconditional Positive Regard - well that’s a mouthful!
So what is it? And why does it matter?
It’s all about accepting and valuing someone, no matter what - totally up our alley.
Sam & Jess chat about what relationships feel like with and without it, unconditional positive regard vs unconditional love and how important it is to have a safe space to fall into.
Big loves and cuddles after this one x
Cheeky little mid-week ep, triggered by the media controversy surrounding Algerian boxer Imane Khelif.
READ: Imane is NOT the controversy, the behaviour of everyday humans vilifying her is.
WARNING: Lots of swearing, energy {rage} level eleventy-hundred.
Moral of this long winded, waffled on story: let's be kind.
When confronted with 'juicy news', can we learn to pause, get curious and seek more understanding before blindly joining the angry mob?
We, the people, ARE the news.
Let's stop enabling the media to damage lives by playing their game. It's old, it's boring, it's embarrassing.
