Speaking of owning 2023 - Blanka Mazimela was kind enough to slide us an exclusive!! I'm incredibly excited and feel blessed to present to you - the andhim remix of a track that has come to mean so much more to me - the 2020-released Afro-spiritual classic 'Gcwanini' with Korus and Sobantwana. I am a fan of both the German duo andhim [see their track 'Donner' and his remix of Armonica's 'Ngeke'] and Blanka's work, and so this remix was definitely a match made in heaven in concept for me - and I'm glad that it definitely delivers on all it promised. I always try to have a personal touch in all of my mixes and DJ SOSO's "Precious" [Afro Fanatix Mix] is a deserving highlight. On Sunday 3rd September, we hosted the very first edition of Gin & Tonic Sunday Sundowner in Cape Town. As a way to say thank you for everyone that came and supported us, and for those that will join us for another Summer '23/'24 edition of GTSS CPT - here is a smooth and luxurious private school Amapiano set by URY. Starting off with the jazzy and ending up with the slightly ratch, this mix features rare gems from Villosoul, a jazzy beauty by Jay Sax & Mdu aka TRP, as well as an incredible Kabza de Small remix of the ever popular YES GOD by Oscar Mbo & KG Smallz. A special presentation from URY's House of Finesse: ODE, a periodic series of mixes paying tribute to some of my favourite musicians and creatives. It's only fitting that the first ODE is to a friend. LUKA is someone I consider myself blessed to have met and become friends, business partners and brothers with. Anthony LUKA Kasirivu is an incredibly talented and self-taught producer, sound designer & label head at We Go Deep. He started producing music in 2004, and his steady rate of quality output has seen him go on to work with a star-studded array of vocalists, producers and remixers. The likes of Charles Webster, Jazzuelle, Shur-I-Kan, Enoo Napa & Fka Mash have been captivated by LUKA's lush and dreamy soundscapes, and inspired to create their own takes. LUKA frequently collaborates with some of the vocalists that are the undeniable (even if sometimes under-appreciated) force behind house music, including Sió (who doubles as a producer as well), Jackie Queens, Jaidene Veda and Alison Crockett. The unmistakable and eclectic fusion of Lounge, Nu-Jazz, Soulful Hip-Hop, deep dub, techno and tribal has landed LUKA's music on plenty labels including Peng (UK), Fomp (UK) and Dark Energy (UK). The Mafikeng, South Africa-based producer also designs sound and music for film & TV.
