Lonnie Gienger: Setting Up Your Family for Success
What do you want to be remembered for, not for what you accomplished, but who you were when you're dead and gone? In this episode, Jeff, Jeff, and Lonnie discuss: Building God’s Kingdom through business. Leading your family with intentionality. The five dimensions of wealth. Creating your family’s shared values list. Key Takeaways: If you have values and a vision stated for your business, but not for your family, it shows where your focus is. The deepest generosity is the generosity of heart. There are five dimensions of wealth: spiritual, relational, human, societal, and financial. Of these, financial is the least important. Do you think about the future of your family as often as you think about the future of your business? "What we do today can make a difference 100 years from now?" —  Lonnie Gienger About Lonnie Gienger: You won’t be around Lonnie long before you pick up on his passion for helping families and companies thrive—and create a lasting, positive impact on society. For over two decades, he has been learning to lead his family as strategically as he leads businesses. That integrated pursuit has shaped a lifelong mission: helping high-capacity families flourish in all five forms of capital—spiritual, relational, human, societal, and financial. Today, Lonnie is frequently invited to coach families of influence around the world on how to build multigenerational alignment, purpose, and impact. He is a Partner and CEO of Wilkinson, a family-owned national real estate investment management platform that has transacted on over $3 billion of real estate with a team that is creating industry-leading impact results and investment returns. He has also been Chairman and CEO of a senior housing ownership and operations company, growing it from a startup to over 2,000 employees in 18 states. For more than 25 years, Lonnie has co-founded and chaired two global leadership development firms, coaching thousands of executives across corporate, nonprofit, and faith-based sectors. His journey to integrate purpose, profit, and people led him to author the book Beyond Business: How Your Company Can Build a Better World. He and his wife will be releasing their new book, Beyond Fortune: A Family's Journey To True Wealth, and an online course this fall to help families of wealth thrive relationally, spiritually, individually, and in their impact on society. Lonnie has been married for 42 years to his childhood sweetheart and best friend, Shelley. The titles they cherish most are PopPop and MiMi—to their seven grandchildren. Together, they’ve built not only a strong marriage and close-knit family but also a shared mission of impact that spans generations. Their four adult children and their spouses each own and operate thriving businesses that actively create positive value in their communities. As a family, they prioritize time together and share a deep love for nature, adventure, and music—often hiking, traveling, skiing, or backpacking together. They reside at their lakeside lodge in the Cascade Mountains, where they love to host families and business leaders from around the world. The environment reflects their values—rooted in beauty, growth, connection, and legacy. Whether through family adventures or mentoring others, Lonnie and Shelley are devoted to helping people live with greater intention, health, and enduring purpose. Brandon West: Standing Out as a Light for Christ
How can you care for the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of your team, their families, your clients, your vendor suppliers, and your local and global community? In this episode, Jeff and Brandon discuss: God’s bigger plan for generous business owners. The six domains of flourishing. The power of doubling down and not giving in to everything. Creating a focus card with your personal mission statement and revisiting it. Key Takeaways: Bring your team and their families with you on the mission-minded values of your business. If everyone understands the reason why they’re working, it can change lives. Everyone in your community can be brought in and invited to participate in having a greater impact through the work God is doing and the people you’re serving. Your only role is to be faithful, to trust God, to do what is right, and then lay all the results and the outcomes back in His hands. Love people better. That is the key to being a more philanthropic leader. Dougal Cameron: It is Not Good For Man to Be Alone
Do you have people whom you can lean on for accountability, encouragement, and exhortation? In this episode, Jeff and Dougal discuss: Going all in on spiritual formation in life’s transitions. How Christ can heal the wounds of our past and use them to lift others. Three life habits: Model, Mentor, Message. Avoiding isolation. Key Takeaways: Advice to high school seniors: When you go off to college, step it up big time. Not only will it be good for you and your relationship with the Lord, but it will be good for your grades, too. Spiritual formation, disciple making, and Bible studies can bring you more success in areas that are not obviously related. Not all men in prison are bad people. Many made stupid decisions and don’t want to continue making those decisions. Many are enthusiastic about life and are redeemed. A peer group, built on trust and accountability, can help you craft and understand your life’s calling and purpose. "Do not get isolated. You must have accountability. You've got to have eyeball to eyeball accountability with other men." — Dougal Cameron Episode References: Prison Entrepreneurship Program: https://www.pep.org/ Halftime: https://halftime.org/ About Dougal Cameron: Dougal A. Cameron is President of Cameron Management. Dougal began his career as an accountant with Arthur Young & Company (now, Ernst & Young). He was an asset and project manager with Gerald D. Hines from 1985 to 1991, where he was responsible for Central Business District Class A assets, including Bank of America Center, JP Morgan Chase Tower, Pennzoil Place, and One and Two Shell Plazas. From 1991 to 1994, Dougal was an owner and principal of a local money management firm. He purchased his first building, 3000 Richmond Avenue, in 1995 when he formed Cameron Management. Since then, Cameron Management has owned and managed buildings in Houston and San Antonio in both single ownership and joint venture partnerships. Dougal built a firm that owns, finances, leases, and manages all of its office buildings in an integrated fashion. Jeff Latture: Generosity with Community and Collaboration
What is my role as a steward, both at home and at work? In this episode, Jeff and Jeff discuss: Including your spouse in the big decisions of life. Serving the King of all with all our resources. Evolution of generous giving. Seeing God at work in the Middle East. Key Takeaways: God will give the things that are best for us, not necessarily the things we think we want or need. Invite people into stewardship with you. Together, people will make a greater impact than if any one person were going at it alone. Don’t be ashamed of your giving or your beliefs. Even if you don’t lead with who you are, people will discover. Understand the purpose of what you’re doing. Every business and every action has a reason. What is it? "That's one of the beautiful things about GROVE, is because of all these relationships, and we tell each other the stories, we get to see what God's doing to a degree that most people wouldn't get that perspective." —  Jeff Latture About Jeff Latture: Jeff Latture serves as Executive Vice President of Barnhart Crane & Rigging and has been a team member since 1997.  He has participated in leading the commercial development of the company through strategic thinking and business development.  He is also a key leader in the GROVE Group, which implements the purpose of Barnhart as a Kingdom generosity engine.  Jeff and his wife are committed to world evangelism through strategic grantmaking.  Through the GROVE process, Jeff leads the development of their investments in the Middle East and North Africa, which relies on The Strategic Resource Group (SRG) as a primary funding tool.  Jeff serves as Chairman of the SRG Board. Ryan Hiebsch: Integrating Faith and Business
What are the little things that we can start to put into motion to be the hands and the feet of God in our communities? In this episode, Jeff and Ryan discuss: Having fun while gaining experience. Learning from those around you with more understanding and greater experience. Stumbling forward while figuring it out. Integrating your business life and your faith life. Key Takeaways: You don’t always have to have a new idea; just be the one willing to follow a well-worked blueprint. Look for who else is doing what you want to be doing and see how you can adapt it for your business. If you follow the Lord’s path, you’ll be amazed at where it can take you, even if you don’t understand why. Time and energy are your limiting assets. You can try to go alone, or you can expand with others and grow together. Learning what it means to be a Christian business owner (and not just a business owner who happens to be Christian) will appear different for every person and every organization. Be willing to just start, even if you don’t feel ready. You don’t need to overthink getting started. "We're a small enough organization, we can all dream. We can all dream as to what this might look like, and we can all be facilitators of how this might look. There are no rules. There is no set guideline or practice. Everything's on the table, so let's talk about it." — Ryan Hiebsch About Ryan Hiebsch: Ryan Hiebsch is a seasoned real estate investor with over 21 years of experience specializing in value-add properties. Holding a degree in Real Estate Finance from the University of North Florida, he has completed over 165 projects, demonstrating a keen ability to identify opportunities and maximize returns. As a licensed broker for 20 years, Ryan has excelled in both residential and commercial real estate, currently owning and managing 91 rental units in Jacksonville, FL, while developing a 66-unit build-to-rent townhome community. Through his company, Sheepco, he is dedicated to creating safe, attainable housing that fosters community interaction and enhances quality of life. With extensive experience in project management, financing, and strategic partnerships, Ryan is a trusted industry leader committed to building thriving, profitable communities for both investors and residents. Embracing and handling obstacles on your journey. Key Takeaways: There’s going to be risk - if you wait for 100% certainty, it won’t come. Move forward anyway in faith. Shawn Nelson: From Mistakes Come Lessons and Miracles
Are you building something that matters? In this episode, Jeff and Shawn discuss: Taking action when you run into roadblocks. Giving back at every stage of life. Finding a way through creative means to make it work. Creating a brand people believe in. Key Takeaways: Just do something. You can’t just have the idea; you have to take action. It is not a one-time thought or one-time event. You can’t hang love over the door and not give back. You don’t need to do what everyone else is doing; you can do it the right way and build a trusted brand from the beginning. Say “yes” first. You can always be giving, you can always be facilitating. Try to be involved. Play along the way; give along the way. "Mistakes are inevitable, and you cannot fear them, and you can't even wish them away, because from the mistakes come the big learnings, the things that matter more than even winning financially or what have you come from the mistakes. Every one of those lessons is rooted in some kind of mistake." —  Shawn Nelson About Shawn Nelson: Shawn holds multiple patents on product inventions that have produced close to a billion dollars in sales to date. Sean Kouplen: Bringing Faith Into Business
How do you bring your faith into your business? In this episode, Jeff and Sean discuss: From the farm to the C-suite. Asking for help and leading from a place of humility. Turning your fears and troubles over to God. Acting on the promptings Jesus gives you, even if you aren’t sure how it is possible. Key Takeaways: When you don’t know the answer, listen carefully, ponder, ask the person for their answer, and follow through. Do you believe He is your healer? When you turn it all over to Jesus, miracles will happen. Everybody you talk to has something going on in their lives that they need prayers for. “Can I pray with you?” is powerful and in the moment. If you can’t do that, pray for someone. "Can I pray with you?’ That is what changed our company." —  Sean Kouplen Episode References: Daily Devotional - https://www.regent.bank/dailydevo/ Faith in Business -  https://faithinbusinessseries.com/ Email the Prayer Team - prayerteam@regent.bank 94X Movement - https://www.94xmovement.com/ C12 - https://www.joinc12.com/ Lead with Prayer by Peter Greer - https://www.peterkgreer.com/lead-with-prayer/ About Sean Kouplen: Mr. Kouplen has served as President of the Company since April 1, 2008, and is one of the principal organizers of Regent Capital Corporation.  He is also the Chairman of the Board of Directors, President, and Chief Executive Officer of Regent Bank.  Mr. Kouplen was formerly with Grand Bank, serving as President and Chief Operating Officer and a member of the Board of Directors.  He serves on the Executive Loan Committee, the Strategic Planning-Executive Committee, and the Nominating and Governance Committee.  Mr. Kouplen previously served as Oklahoma’s Secretary of Commerce & Workforce Development and holds many local and statewide leadership positions. Jon Eisenberg: Creative Solutions to the Problems of Your Heart
Have you looked at ways, beyond the obvious, that you might be able to give to those problems weighing on your heart? In this episode, Jeff, Jeff, and Jon discuss: Loving people in a hard place is like Jesus loved people in a hard place. Obeying the clear calls of God, even when you don’t know the reasons. Giving to the causes God places in your heart. Creative solutions to the problems God puts in your heart. Key Takeaways: Character formation happens in our hardest seasons. People need to hear about Jesus. What are we doing to help more people learn about Him? Giving is a spiritual journey, not a mechanical one. Only God can help grow that love of giving in their hearts. Kids need to understand the concept of giving from an early age. Talk to them about giving and give them opportunities to give. "You should be talking to your advisors, maybe to an NCF office, or to someone that can help you understand there are opportunities on your balance sheet that you can give, that you might not realize you can give." —  Jon Eisenberg About Jon Eisenberg: I long to see askers, givers, and systems that increasingly reflect the lavish generosity of Our Father. I started working in the ministry of generosity in 2000. I have since spent half my career in Major or Principal Gift work and half in Executive leadership of high-performing teams that grow top-line contributions by focusing on helping people look forward to giving. This grows out of the conviction that fundraising is a spiritual discipline, whether asking or giving, we are trusting God to take care of tomorrow as we live sacrificially today. I want for the givers I serve and the teams I lead, not from them (Phil 4:17). Today, I get to walk with givers, their advisors, and the ministries they love as they develop a Giving Strategy that seeks to maximize both the joy they feel in giving as a family and the impact they have as they make the most of all God has given to them. Leigh Ann Horton: Joy in the Journey of Giving
What are your core values? What are you passionate about? Where do those overlap and how can you give in that area? In this episode, Jeff, Alisa, and Leigh Ann discuss: Working with your spouse and growing in generosity together. Turning to the Lord in times of pruning. Learning in community and learning to listen to God. Spontaneous and purposeful giving. Equipping women to manage their own wealth and giving. Key Takeaways: Pray with your spouse to be in His will. God is not constrained by the spreadsheets we create. Be creative in your giving. Learn and grow with your community, match the giving your kids are doing, and find your joy in it. Get outside your comfort zone, interact with those who are being blessed by God, and the work you’re doing. Find clarity around what you’re passionate about. You cannot save the world alone. Zac Bauermaster: It’s All About People
Who is coming alongside you on your journey? Do others know you’re on their journey with them? In this episode, Jeff, Jeff, and Zac discuss: Finding God’s grace in the hard seasons of life. Connecting with your community. Fighting the shadows of anxiety and depression with God and others. We need PEOPLE in our lives. Key Takeaways: Journaling allows you to look back and see God’s hand in your life and heart throughout the years. Books can inform, but the Bible is what transforms. People admire strength, but they connect with weaknesses and vulnerabilities. PEOPLE - Prioritizing people, empathizing with people, observing needs and responding with compassion, praying for and with people, loving people, and encouraging people. "People need to feel connected. They need to feel like they belong. They need to feel like someone's got their back, someone's in their corner." — Zac Bauermaster About Zac Bauermaster: Zac currently serves as principal of Providence Elementary School in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. He has the tremendous opportunity to lead teachers, support staff, families, and, most importantly, the next generation daily. He’s passionate about creating an encouraging school environment where adults want to come daily; kids are excited to attend, and a place families trust and are proud to send their children. Zac firmly believes that the work in education is all about people built one relationship at a time. In addition to his role as principal, Zac is a speaker and an author of three books. Tommy Martin: Supporting the Real MVPs - Most Vulnerable People
Are your eyes open to see the needs that are all around you? In this episode, Jeff and Tommy discuss: Meeting Jesus in the midst of life. The power of good friends. Deeply caring for people through business. Asking “is it worth it” rather than “do I like it.” Key Takeaways: Having a friend group that can lift you up and won’t drag you down in high school can be extremely strengthening to one’s testimony. Think about what you need to do to make your life and work feel purposeful. It may be something practical - what changes can be made now? Align your hearts and values, then separate the duties and responsibilities to align with strengths. Be willing to do things you don't like if it's worth it in support of some of the most vulnerable people around the world. "We embrace the joy and the burden of the call…it's truly kind of God to give us a burden." — Tommy Martin Episode References: Tim Tebow Foundation: https://timtebowfoundation.org/ Night to Shine: https://timtebowfoundation.org/night-to-shine/ About Tommy Martin: Tommy is The Tebow Group's CEO and a Mammoth Scientific partner. The Tebow Group exists to fuel and amplify faith, hope, and love in support of the Tim Tebow Foundation, which serves some of the most vulnerable people (the real MVPs) around the globe. For his work in the financial services industry, Tommy was named to Investment News’ inaugural list of the Top 40 Advisors Under Age 40. He was also named one of the top 8 visionaries who “will pull the financial service industry into the next stratum.” Tommy is a former professor who served as the Financial Planning Department Chair at Taylor University. Kurt Avery: Have a Big God
Does your view of God help you to think big and learn to be a visionary? In this episode, Jeff and Kurt discuss: Making things happen against all odds. Following through on what you promise. Using your skills to teach skills. Allowing God to be big. Key Takeaways: See the God stories in your story. He will always be there in your success. Changing behavior takes time - it is a process to teach people and change their habits and behaviors. There’s no unintended consequence - it means you didn’t think it through when you had the chance. Think big - God is big and you can do more with Him than you can on your own. The bigger you let God be, the bigger you’ll do. "We want to make your business more profitable. And we want to encourage you to find creative ways to give away your services and products before you have to pay taxes." — Kurt Avery About Kurt Avery: Kurt Avery is the founder of Sawyer Products and currently serves as president and owner. Before founding Sawyer, he served as a marketer for globally known brands. Avery is passionate about and committed to creating disease-free water for life in communities throughout the world. Randy Price: Abiding in Christ
How are you abiding in Christ and seeking God in business and life? In this episode, Jeff, Jeff, and Randy discuss: Following through on what you start. Being intentional about your faith in business. Ministering to your employees and your clients. Let God show you your priorities. Key Takeaways: Discover how God has made you. The more you can cooperate and develop that, the more the magic will happen. There is power in giving people a hand up, not just a handout. Consider tithing your time - designate some of your hours as intentional time with God or with the ministry for His Kingdom. God’s calling and God’s timing are often different. "If you're sensing God's calling you to something, listen to that and start pursuing that, start preparing for that. Ensure it’s from God and that He wants you to do that, and what your role is, then what the timing is." — Randy Price About Randy Price: Randy and Susan Price opened Right at Home in March of 2009 after they saw the fast-growing care needs of seniors in Northeast Texas. Having a father who had Lewy Body dementia (an ugly combination of Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s diseases), Randy is even more passionate about caring for the patients and the caregivers. Before opening Right at Home, Randy and Susan served for 2 years as missionaries in Mexico. Previous to that, Randy worked in leadership roles in manufacturing for 17 years. Randy has a BA in Economics with a secondary emphasis in Accounting from the University of Texas at Austin. After years of prayer, counsel & thought, Randy decided to establish Community for Hope (https://communityforhope.net/testimonials/) to more effectively minister to his 400+ employees across 10+ offices in East Texas. Niko Lorentzatos: Building Time for What Matters
What steps can you take now to start moving in the right direction of what matters most? In this episode, Jeff and Nick discuss: Trying new, difficult things and bringing value in all areas of business. The power of one-on-one conversations and asking “why”. Praying for guidance and strength in hard times. Picturing your perfect life and taking steps to meet those goals. Key Takeaways: When all you do is worry, you’re not present. Let people know what you do, then put it in God’s hands. People of all ages can pour into one another, just as 30-year-olds can learn from 60-year-olds, the reverse is also true. Write out the things in your life that are valuable. Then write down what is priceless. Compare those lists, and talk about them with someone you love. How are you spending your day reflecting on those things? "You can’t sell coaching to somebody. Coaching only works if somebody realizes they have a gap between where they are and where they want to be, and they have a burning desire to do something about it." —  Niko Lorentzatos Episode References: Halftime by Bob Buford: https://halftime.org/books/ About Niko Lorentzatos: Niko Lorentzatos spent his career in the energy industry, most recently as a public company executive, lawyer, and director.  His day-to-day focus was helping solve business problems, but it was the one-on-one discussions with colleagues and friends who wanted to talk about deeper issues or who needed help, whether personal or professional, that were most fulfilling.  During a conversation about purpose and faith, a colleague recommended the book Halftime.  Years later, when Niko left the company after a merger, another colleague mentioned the Halftime Fellows program.  Halftime and the Fellows Program had a profound effect on Niko.  He learned that his passion and purpose lie in helping others find and live out God’s calling in their lives.  He now serves as a Certified Halftime Coach and also mentors professionals and social entrepreneurs. Niko and his wife, Jenny, have been married for 23 years and have two adult children, Luke and Rebecca.  Niko serves on the Boards of the HAY Center Foundation, which assists youth in Harris County as they age out of the foster system, and the Houston Area Parkinson Society, which provides programs, support, and services free of charge.  He also serves on the Parish Council of Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Houston, Texas. Gary Ringger: Surrender is Key
Are you using prayer to build your relationship with God and surrender to Him in business and life? In this episode, Jeff and Gary discuss: Using prayer as personal time with your Father in Heaven. Surrendering your all to God. Seeking the mysteries of God’s will. Using business as a movement and a mission. Key Takeaways: When you don’t know what’s going to happen, pray. God is in control. He knows the hairs on your head, He knows the circumstances of your life. He shows up in unusual ways. Adoption is a reasonable small investment up front to change a life. If you want to experience God, see where He’s moving and join in that movement. "Begin with the end in mind, think what you want to do, write it down, and have some people hold you accountable to that." — Gary Ringger About Gary Ringger: Gary is the founder of Lifesong for Orphans, but his preferred title is Orphan Advocate. His passion is developing radical businesses to create “perpetual giving engines” and employment opportunities for orphans and vulnerable children. He has the blessing of being an entrepreneur (which sometimes, when running unchecked, becomes a curse) and has been involved (at last count) in 11 start-ups.
