Af: Die geur van vars lenteblomme hang in die lug.
En: The scent of fresh spring flowers hangs in the air.

Af: Annelize staan in haar kombuis, besig om slaai voor te berei.
En: Annelize stands in her kitchen, busy preparing salad.

Af: Kobus, haar man, kyk deur die ruim kombuisvenster na die donker wolke wat in die verte saampak.
En: Kobus, her husband, looks through the spacious kitchen window at the dark clouds gathering in the distance.

Af: "Ek weet nie of die weer gaan hou nie," sê hy skepties.
En: "I don't know if the weather will hold," he says skeptically.

Af: Maar Annelize glimlag en sê: "Ag, Kobus, ons sal maak dat dit werk. ’n Bietjie reën kan ons nie keer nie!"
En: But Annelize smiles and says, "Oh, Kobus, we'll make it work. A little rain can't stop us!"

Af: Frikkie kom laggend by hulle aan.
En: Frikkie arrives laughing.

Af: “Seg julle nou, reën? Dit lyk na die perfekte kans om te sien wie vinniger is – ons of die weer!”
