Ignoring or resisting God's commands leads to destruction, while trusting and obeying Him brings life and security. King Ahab’s greed led him to steal Naboth’s vineyard, revealing a heart enslaved to sin and rebellion against God’s authority—but God’s justice would not be mocked. Through Elijah, the Lord confronted Ahab’s corruption, reminding us that sin always carries consequences, yet repentance opens the door to mercy. When Ahab humbled himself before God, the Lord delayed judgment, showing that even the most wayward heart can find forgiveness through genuine repentance and trust in God’s justice.

The people of Israel had forsaken God, leaning on their own understanding and choosing Baal instead of trusting the Lord, showing how small they allowed God to become in their lives. Elijah confronted them with a choice—whether to follow the living God or false gods—and demonstrated that the Lord alone is powerful and faithful enough to be counted on. When fire fell from heaven, the people declared, “The LORD, He is God,” reminding us that we too must decide if we will trust Him with our lives, our problems, and our eternity.

Finally, in the widow’s darkest moment, God revived her son, showing His unmatched power over life and death, and reminding us that He alone is worthy of our complete trust.

Starting strong in faith is important, but we can’t just give up. We need to keep walking with God every day and following His Word. The story of the prophet reminds us that even small mistakes can have big consequences, and we need to be careful not to be swayed by false voices. Despite God’s clear warnings, Jeroboam didn’t change his ways, and that led to serious problems. So, let us be careful to be faithful in our daily lives and stay true to God until the very end.

This is the tale of a prophet sent to confront King Jeroboam, and it shows how even the most faithful can fall short when they let their guard down. The prophet started strong, but he was deceived by another, proving that even the most devoted can be swayed when they stop listening to God’s voice. So, let’s remember to be fully committed and unwavering in our faith because finishing strong matters just as much as starting right.

The Lord’s Supper is a sacred time to remember Christ’s sacrificial love, examine our hearts in light of our relationship with Him and others, and boldly proclaim His return. As we come to the table, we do so not out of habit, but with reverence, unity, and hope—declaring to the world that Jesus died, rose, and is coming again.

We examine Jeroboam’s idolatry, beginning with his fear of losing his kingdom, which led him to create alternative worship practices instead of trusting God's promise. Driven by this fear, Jeroboam established golden calves and appointed non-Levite priests, leading his people into false worship. These actions highlight how fear can result in irrational decisions and fake faithfulness, ultimately having a lasting, negative impact on generations by pointing people away from God.

After Solomon’s death, Rehoboam became king and initially sought wise counsel when the people asked for relief from heavy burdens. Ignoring the elders’ advice, he chose harshness, which led to the division of the kingdom—ten tribes followed Jeroboam, leaving only Judah and Benjamin under Rehoboam. This story warns that rejecting godly counsel and leading with pride can bring lasting division and destruction.

King Solomon, once blessed with wisdom and great wealth, compromised his devotion to God by marrying many foreign women, leading to idolatry and a divided heart. His disobedience brought serious consequences, including the eventual division of his kingdom and the rise of multiple enemies. We, as believers, need to examine our own lives for compromises. We need to stay close to God and keep Jesus on the throne of our hearts.

Anxiety can weigh us down, but God calls us to release it through prayer and thanksgiving, trusting Him instead of trying to stay in control. When we do, anxiety can become a tool that draws us closer to God and strengthens our faith. His peace, beyond human understanding, guards our hearts and minds, giving us rest even in life’s storms.
