The people of Israel had forsaken God, leaning on their own understanding and choosing Baal instead of trusting the Lord, showing how small they allowed God to become in their lives. Elijah confronted them with a choice—whether to follow the living God or false gods—and demonstrated that the Lord alone is powerful and faithful enough to be counted on. When fire fell from heaven, the people declared, “The LORD, He is God,” reminding us that we too must decide if we will trust Him with our lives, our problems, and our eternity.
