Episode 17: Freaked, Lifeforce & Dead Alive
Hey, all you freaks, zombies, and sexy space vampires: the party’s over! On this episode of the podcast, Jake and Kristy revisit some of the more gruesome films that were a formative part of their childhood years. Up first is 1993’s Freaked, the twisted brainchild of Alex Winter that become a part of the regular viewing rotation in Kristy’s household. Then, it’s on to Jake’s recommendation with 1985’s Lifeforce, the Cannon Films-produced, Dan O’Bannon-penned, Tobe Hooper-directed intergalactic horror apocalypse. Not content with stopping there, the podcast hosts break format to gush over a film they love: Peter Jackson’s Dead Alive, the ultimate film in zombie horror-comedy carnage. All that and more on an all-new Blindspots! Music in this episode is from openings of the films Freaked and Lifeforce.

Episode 13: The Last Detail & Poetry
On an all-new episode of Blindspots, our hosts try out a brand new format with a listener-curated double feature! Rather than recommend a film to each other, Jake and Kristy check out a pair of films suggested to them by two listeners, neither of which they have seen. Up first is Paula's pick, Hal Ashby’s 1973 film The Last Detail, an existentialist drama about two Naval officers escorting a third to prison. Then, they discuss Jerry's pick, Poetry, South Korean filmmaker Lee Chang-dong’s 2010 film about an elderly woman struggling to keep her life together. All of this excitement and more! Episode 9: Trust & Waitress
We bake a lot of pies here on the Blindspots Podcast. So far, we’ve had such favorites as the Halloween Four Film Spooktacular Pie, the Troubled Youth Dealing With Parental Issues Pie, the Do Not Watch These Films With The Lights Off Pie, and the Christmas Double-Blind Holiday Extravaganza Pie. This week, we’re introducing a new flavor: The Films Of Adrienne Shelly Pie. For this episode of Blindspots, we celebrate the life and work of Adrienne Shelly, a vibrant and wonderful performer who enjoyed a career as an actress and director. Jake and Kristy get together to talk Hal Hartley’s sophomore masterwork, 1990’s Trust, and Adrienne’s Shelly's third directorial accomplishment and final starring role, 2007’s Waitress. It’s a warm and delightful tribute to an indelible artist brought to you for your listening pleasure. Now with more pie. Music used is Short Skirt/Long Jacket by Cake.
