    Faith-Driven Leader
Leading with Vision, Vulnerability & Faith — A Conversation with Edgar Sandoval

What does it look like to lead with conviction and compassion? In this episode of The Faith Driven Leader, I sit down with Edgar Sandoval Sr., President and CEO of World Vision, to talk about vision, authenticity, and faith-driven leadership.

Edgar’s journey—from arriving in the U.S. with $50 and no English to leading one of the world’s largest Christian humanitarian organizations—is as inspiring as it is humbling. We explore the layers leaders wear, how to slow down decisions when it matters most, and why obedience to God is a more powerful measure of success than any metric.

This conversation will stretch your thinking and strengthen your resolve to lead with both purpose and love.

    🎯 Key Takeaways:

    • God doesn’t just equip the called—He also calls the equipped.

    • Big visions need clear, tangible wins to stay motivating.

    • Authentic leadership invites others to bring their full selves to the table.

    • Redefining success through obedience, not just outcomes.

    • Strategic leadership sometimes means slowing down to truly listen.

💡 Your Leadership Challenge: What’s one decision you’re tempted to rush this week? Take a beat. Invite more voices. Ask God for wisdom. Slowing down might be the boldest move you make.

    Hi friends!

Our guest today is my good friend Laura Smith. Laura has been on the show before! You can go back and listen in to our conversation about mental health here: https://open.spotify.com/episode/1JKdKa65RDIFYmbsQruXhT?si=LZ4kGvKiQfOYKnJXAgtvZA!

Laura is a gifted writer, a Bible teacher, and she is so wise!

We talk on today's episode about her New book: The Urgency of Slowing Down: Biblical Wisdom for Everyday Renewal.

If you're feeling worn down, exhausted, scattered, or like the tiniest thing might push you over the edge, you're going to want to tune into today's conversation.

Our challenge coming out of this episode is to consider:

    • Where can you be more intentional in slowing down? Choose one of the slow-down challenges that Laura and I talked about, for example:

    • Do something slowly…for me, that’s reading…taking the time to slow down as I read and really take in what I’m learning. Focusing on that learning rather than checking a box of finishing the chapter!

    Faith-Driven Leader
Tim Metzner | Building Companies and Cultures

Our guest today is my good friend, Tim Metzner. Tim is a serial entrepreneur - one of a small handful of incredibly prolific and wise faith-filled entrepreneurs I’ve had the pleasure of working alongside in our community.

Tim’s fingerprints are all over the midwest entrepreneurial ecosystem. He helped launch Astronomer, Cincinnati's first unicorn (out of Cincinnati's first Venture Studio, Differential), co-founded a faith-based, and the longest-running startup accelerator in our region, OCEAN, and one of the region's best-funded and fastest-growing startups, Coterie Insurance. He is currently raising capital for Fireroad Ventures Fund I and actively hunting for great small businesses to acquire in the home services space.

He has been in and around startups his entire career as a founder, investor, mentor, teacher, and coach. He’d say he’s been blessed to get to do work that he loves with amazing humans who make him better.

Tim wholeheartedly believes that entrepreneurs can change the world by creating great jobs and culture. This belief has been a driving force behind his own entrepreneurial endeavors as well as the non-profit that I helped to start, OCEAN Programs.

    Faith-Driven Leader
Jo Saxton | Dreaming Faithfully, Leading Intentionally

Hi friends! Welcome back to the Faith Driven Leader Podcast, where we get encouraged and equipped by learning from amazing Faith Driven Leaders.

Our guest today is Jo Saxton. Jo is a speaker, podcaster, and author. She is the founder of the Ezer Collective, an initiative dedicated to investing in women leaders around the world, equipping them to own their voice, and boldly step into their calling. She currently serves as the Executive Director of The 25 (a leadership development initiative) at Bethel University. Born to Nigerian parents and raised in London, England, Jo now lives in Minneapolis with her husband and two daughters. She loves everyday stuff like good music, good food, and good friends.

    Challenge:

Start dreaming again. Faithfully. With hope: Think through the exercises Jo referenced: determine the goal, the pathway, and where/how you have the agency to make it happen - these three will enable hope.

If you are a female listener, consider signing up to attend Ezer Collective in Minneapolis this November! I hope to see you there!n Link in the show notes!

    Faith-Driven Leader
Kirsten Moorfield & Darrin Murriner | New Thinking on Collaboration

    Hi friends!

Today’s episode is extra good because we have two guests: Darrin Murriner and Kirsten Moorfield. Darrin and Kirsten are Faith Driven entrepreneurs and are the co-founders of Cloverleaf.

Cloverleaf offers a coaching tool with technology that sends personalized, meaningful coaching tips. By leveraging respected psychology data from behavioral assessments such as DISC and Enneagram, Myers Briggs, and others, the company provides personalized coaching tips to team members directly in the communication and collaboration tools they use every day, including Google Workplace, Microsoft 365, Slack, and Microsoft Teams.

Darrin & Kirsten are both such incredible leaders – within their team, the community, and their families. I’ve known them both for several years, and I’m always impressed, inspired, and equipped with new thinking each time I connect with them.

In today’s episode, we talk about Darrin & Kirsten’s new book: Thrive: A Collaboration Manifesto; and their thoughts about collaboration, leadership, conflict, transparency, diversity, and so much more!

    Faith-Driven Leader
Mike Sharrow | Intentionally Harnessing Influence

    Hi friends!

Our guest today is Mike Sharrow, CEO of C12 Busines Forums, the global leader in CEO/Owner peer advisory groups for Christians serving more than 4,000 members across the US, SE Asia, South Africa and Brazil.

Mike leads a team in San Antonio, Texas that supports more than 190 full-time C12 Chairs who serve as “missionpreneurs” helping CEOs, entrepreneurs and key players build “great businesses for a greater purpose” to “advance the Gospel in the marketplace.”

I first encountered Mike when I heard him speak at the C12 conference in March of 2023, and I was blown away by his wisdom, humility, and his grasp for how we, as faith driven leaders can integrate our faith into our leadership, and the fruits that can result.

Mike is an exceptional and inspiring leader, and this conversation is truly packed with practical insights you can use!

The FDL podcast equips and emboldens listeners to build a life and career on deep trust in our good Father God. I'm Ann Eileen Thompson. I find inspiration from incredible guests who are letting their faith drive their leadership in life, family, ministry, and the marketplace. We'll hear how Faith-Driven leaders navigate leadership decisions in a world where everyone seems to be deciding for themselves what’s “right.” We’ll be encouraged by their often unexpected career paths and how God has shown up when they most needed Him.
