On this week's episode of F-R Racing's Garage Talk (simulcasted on @Stadiumscene ), D.J. and Erik look at the end of their iRacing Indy Racing World Series season. The good (D.J.'s win at Iowa), the bad (Erik's big wreck on the final lap of the Indy race), and the ugly (D.J. at Portland). We also look ahead to the season finale of Wednesday Night Dash (October 29th at 10pm ET).
Next, we move on to Formula 1 and bring up how D.J. said the only way for Max Verstappen to catch the two McLaren drivers in the points is for them to absolutely botch these next couple of races. That's almost exactly what happened this weekend. Max looked like his old self and both McLaren cars ended up wrecked on lap 1 of the sprint. Lando at least walked away with a podium finish in the main race.
Finally, we look at the latest in the NASCAR playoffs, who has the best chance from the bottom 4 in the Cup Series to move on, and which would be the bigger disappointment of losing out their championship at Phoenix, Corey Heim (Trucks) or Connor Zilisch (Xfinity)? Both drivers have been phenomenal all year.

In this week's episode of F-R Racing's Garage Talk, we take a look at NASCAR weekend at the Roval, possible race manipulation, and did D.J. place another +1200 bet on Joey Logano winning in 2025?
We dive into the deeper conversation about sports betting, the pros and cons of being able to bet in many states via sports apps versus having to go to Vegas or one of the other few places where sports betting was legal in person. It's become oversaturated that gambling and odds have taken over as the stats. Is it ruining the sports we watch?
Finally, we close out the show discussing Oscar Piastri fuming post race and cutting off Zak Brown by disconnecting the radio mid pep talk. Is it possible for McLaren to bottle the drivers championship and let Max catch up and win? We discuss.

After a week off for "Fall Break" we are back with an all new episode of F-R Racing's Garage Talk! On this week's episode D.J. talks about where he was last week, and recaps his visit to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum. The museum re-opened last spring after a major renovation so now that he's visited the old and the new museum, he shares what he thinks.
Next, we move on and discuss the crazy finish to the NASCAR Cup Series race at Kansas that left multiple Toyota drivers upset at each other as Chase Elliott sneaks through and takes the win coming out of turn 4.
Finally, we discuss the rumor started on Reddit this week that Richard Childress was going to announce his retirement this weekend at the Charlotte Roval, but RCR has since come out to deny the rumors. When we race at Texas, D.J.'s cowboy hat comes out. Erik decided to pull out the sloth drinking a beer and eating a taco Hawaiian shirt to fit in with the ridiculous theme of today's show.
We start off by recapping the fact we went to Texas Motor Speedway for Wednesday Night Dash, how it went, and how a penalty hosed Erik's race. We also get into the first iRacing Indy Racing World Series rain race at Portland International Raceway.
On the second half of the show we discuss the official release of the 2026 IndyCar schedule, the double weekend at Milwaukee, and no Iowa. Then we move on and discuss proposed changes to the NASCAR playoffs including a multi race last four or maybe a final six drivers instead of four?

On today's episode of F-R Racing's Garage Talk, we've been largely ignoring the simulated part of motorsports the last several episodes, so we take time today to go through the latest updates during the iRacing 2025 Season 3 update package! New cars, new tracks, updated artwork, and a gigantic file size!
On the second half of the show, we discuss the NASCAR race at Gateway with Denny Hamlin winning. D.J. puts on his tin foil hat and questions why did the broadcast feed cut out right before Denny Hamlin crossed the line and was it related to the fact Denny's lawsuit against NASCAR is getting really ugly? We discuss.
Finally, Max Verstappen returns to the top step of the podium and McLaren are dealing with team orders. While McLaren have more or less clinched the Constructors Championship already, the battle for the Driver championship rages on with drama.

The IndyCar season wrapped up last weekend at Nashville with Josef Newgarden salvaging a bad season with a win. It was his 11th straight season with a win in the IndyCar season. We look back at how the season went, the good, the bad, and how to improve on story telling. What can IndyCar learn from the WWE (no not scripted results).
Next, we move on and discuss the NASCAR weekend from Connor Zilisch's win in Portland, the "shortcut" through turn 1 and 2, and do they need to change the rule? After that we discuss Chase Briscoe winning back to back Southern 500s with two different teams and two different OEMs. It was an incredibly impressive drive as he looks to build momentum at JGR.
Finally, we do a quick recap of the Formula 1 Dutch Grand Prix, Isack Hadjar's impressive drive and first podium finish, to Ferrari and the terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day. Also, did Charles LeClerc cause a surge in the birth rate in Italy as a result of winning at Monza in 2024? We look at the hilarious social media claim.

Hello to our friends at IndyCar! We really appreciate the listen! (We're kidding, I think). With the breaking news this week that IndyCar is likely returning to Phoenix Raceway for the first time in years, D.J. shares his excitement about having another reason to go to the track.
First though, we kick off the show talking about the breaking news that wasn't, Valtteri Bottas and Sergio Perez will be driving for Cadillac F1. This has been largely known, but it is now official. Oh and the announcement video with Keanu Reeves was awesome.
Next, we talk about the improved racing at Milwaukee and Christian Rasmussen's incredible pass on the high side to win. Is this a comfort thing being the 2nd time at the track, was the high line practice the difference here? Is this the format for good oval racing in IndyCar (minus the recent Iowa races...)

If you watched the Bottom Split Racing Series on @Stadiumscene on Monday night you noticed D.J. was logged in, but did not grid or race. He ran into technical troubles with the Meta Quest 3S and trying to race in VR.
In this week's Garage Talk he kicks off the show talking about the major software bug that some users are struggling with in the Meta Quest 3 and 3S and why until that gets fixed, it's generally not a viable solution for most people. That and the fact you need a Computer Science degree to configure it.In part two of the show, Erik and D.J. recap the IndyCar race at Toronto including Team Penske having a bad day (again), Santino Ferucci missing the race after a crash during warm up, and Dale Coyne's driver Rinus VeeKay and also Kyffin Simpson on the podium! We move on and recap Denny Hamlin's win at Dover and the ongoing charter lawsuit between NASCAR and 23XI and Front Row Motorsports. Finally, we close out with a preview of this weekend's race at the Brickyard. No matter what happens in the mid-season challenge, Ty Dillon is the big winner regardless. We discuss.

We had a time crunch this week, so a shorter on script show for once! On this episode of Garage Talk we look into SVG's continued road course dominance in NASCAR, is Connor Zilisch a future superstar for the sport, some iRacing discussion, and the poor attendance at the IndyCar Iowa race.
We start off the discussion with Sonoma and how SVG dominated the Cup Race on a road course yet again, but 18 year old Connor Zilisch held him off with some amazing driving late in the Xfinity race. Are we seeing a superstar in the making? Ty Dillon making the news with his (perfectly legal) bump of Alex Bowman on the last turn to keep his million dollar dream alive and more!
Next, we shift over to iRacing and talk about our Michigan week (Tuesday IndyCar and Wednesday Night Dash Trucks). Bad restarts and bad finishes led to a mixed bag of results this week. D.J. also hypes a project he's working on to help users break into VR iRacing using the lower cost Meta Quest 3S instead of dropping $500 for the full Meta Quest 3.
Finally, we close out the show talking about IndyCar's continued struggles to attract an audience before and after the Indy 500 and how lack of promotion by Iowa Speedway and the series led to really poor attendance, despite the racing being pretty solid.

We are finally back from our summer break! Erik is (mostly) moved in to his new place in Florida and we catch up on what we missed the last few weeks. We also introduce a new segment, Florida Man vs Arizona Man.

The bulk of the show today is dedicated to looking over the 2026 Formula 1 schedule and the big item of note is Monaco is moved to mid-June and F1 will be taking on last part of the Indianapolis 500 directly in television ratings. With Indy 500 TV ratings on the rise again and still considered a mega event in the United States is this move smart? Is it just arrogance thinking they can take on the US's largest motorsports event in TV ratings?
On the second half of the show, we recap NASCAR at Michigan, the excessive use of the John Fogerty guitar riff every time they come back from commercial, and the storylines coming up as NASCAR heads to Mexico for the first time in many years, IndyCar heads to Gateway, F1 heads to Canada, and we have the Le Mans 24 hour race all in one weekend! "Two Idiots Talking Racing... and Stuff" sounds like a fitting tagline for this show, isn't it? Today on F-R Racing's Garage Talk we officially adopt that as the tagline for the show. What started as a quick and serious show evolved into what you see and listen to on a weekly basis so we felt it was time to start updating the branding to match the show.
We kick off the show this week discussing the latest in iRacing including Erik's surprisingly good performance at Lime Rock Park, D.J. having to switch to the booth last minute, and the upcoming schedule (including our all new Bottom Split Racing Series beginning on June 23rd! Finally, we discuss the Max Verstappen's incident with George Russell at the Spanish Grand Prix and the hilarious Internet theory on why Max purposely tried to get himself suspended for the Canadian Grand Prix (it involves Le Mans).

On this week's episode of F-R Racing's Garage Talk, we give a brief mention to the F1 Monaco "race", because that's all it deserves, one of the weirder Indy 500's we've ever seen, and the first NASCAR race on Amazon Prime Video.First up, we talk about the F1 Monaco Grand Prix and as expected it was a parade with no on track passing, and the required two pit stop strategy didn't work out. On this week's episode of Garage Talk, we're joined by the very talented Jackson Lambros, co-founder of Outlap Media and reporter for Dive Bomb about the latest Team Penske scandal at the Indianapolis 500, the fall out, D.J. apologizes to Robert Shwartzman, and more!At the start of the show, we introduce you to Jackson Lambros, co-founder of Outlap Media, a reporter for Dive Bomb, and the next voice of Wednesday Night Dash!
As mentioned previously, Trevor Kratzer will be stepping down after the truck series to head to college and we're excited to have Jackson step in as the next voice! You may recognize his voice from the Bristol Season 12 Wednesday Night Dash race, and the first two season 5 Indy Racing World Series races.
D.J. and Erik missed badly by predicting Robert Shwartzman would be the one bumped from the Indy 500 field, but instead he is the first rookie to sit on the pole since 1983! We apologize to him and Prema for our bad prediction.
Next, Jackson fills you in on the Team Penske scandal involving the illegal modification to the attenuator from what is the attenuator used for, why you can't and shouldn't perform any modifications to it (safety issue), and break down the fallout for top Penske management getting let go over for now their second scandal in two years.
In the second half of the show we preview the upcoming weekend of racing including F1 at Monaco, the Indy 500, and NASCAR at the Coca-Cola 600.
Finally, we talk about the highlights from the All Star Race at North Wilkesboro, McLaren's strategy call in Italy, and our caution filled iRacing event at Bristol.

On this week's episode of Garage Talk, we recap the Sonsio Grand Prix at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, recap the Kansas NASCAR weekend including Carson Hocevar's "gesture" to Layne Riggs, ideas for iRacing to improve the restart procedure, and more!
D.J.'s kids got him sick yet again, but the show must go on! For the first half of the show we largely stick to on topic motorsports including a recap of the Sonsio Grand Prix, a breakdown of what little Indy 500 practice we've seen so far, and which driver will ultimately miss out on qualifying for the race? We both agree there is a clear favorite to miss.

Finally, we get off topic a little bit towards the end of the show, but we do follow up on our discussion of iRacing's re-ordering procedure for oval racing during cautions, especially during finishes under caution. We have not seen a response from iRacing support over our ticket from our Talladega debacle, but we provide some suggestions on how iRacing can fix the driver notification system.
