E25 He Dismembered His Father and Used Him as a TV Stand: The Murder of William Spiller

Nathan Robinson is watching tv. He spent the entire day cleaning every inch of the flat he shares with his father, William Spiller. And yes, he did make a mistake and flooded the bathroom floor, so much so that it soaked through to his downstairs neighbours flat and had ‘pink water droplets’ coming through the ceiling.

But that’s over now and Nathan can to relax in front of the TV before travelling to Glasgow with his friends the next day.

“let’s quickly make sure I’m not missing anything before I leave.”

“I put everything in containers, then I cleaned up, I paid the rent, and I told our neighbour, David that dad went on holiday with his girlfriend, Glenys. Yep, that’s everything.”

But Nathan Robinson was lying, his father William was still in the flat. In fact, Robinson was watching TV with him, William was even holding the TV up, well his body was, well parts of his body were. The parts of the body that was place into the container, that’s now acting as the TV stand.

This is the murder of William Spiller, now on Despicable Beings.

E24 Who killed the Miyazawa Family? And ate Ice Cream After?

On Sunday 31st of December 2000, in Tokyo’s Setagaya Ward, Haruko was worried. She hasn’t been able to contact her daughter, Yasuko Miyazawa, all morning. I mean it’s not too surprising, she’s probably preparing for the new year with her husband, Mikio and two children 8-year-old Niina and 6-year-old Rei, but still, who’s too busy to contact their mother?

But when Haruko tried to call Yasuko again, she realised the Miyazawa home phone had been disconnected. This was so unusual and started to really concern Haruko. She wondered if something was wrong and thought, “I’ll just pop in to check on them.”

Luckily, Haruko only lived next door so this would be a quick task to ease her nerves. When she knocks on the door Haruko hopes Yasuko will open the door with a warm smile, wave her mum in and tell her, “Oh mum you worry too much,” and the two would laugh about the whole thing over breakfast. Instead, Haruko knocks on the door and silence. Haruko is now extremely distressed, she bought her spare key, so she opens the door to the Miyazawa home, and she’s greet by a mortifying sight, one she would never forget.

Little did Haruko know she had discovered a crime that would still be unsolved even after 24 years.

This is the case of the Miyazawa family now on Despicable Beings.

E23 She Hacked His Body Up with An Axe: The Case of Joyce Chant

BANG!

“What was that sound?”

“I don’t know Scott, don’t worry about it.”

“But it sounded like gun shot, and listen, I don’t hear Mum and Dad arguing anymore.”

“Should we go check on them?”

“NO! Don’t move.”

Husband and wife, Joyce and Wayne Chant are spending another night fighting. Wayne is a very abusive husband and father, and Joyce and their three sons, Jamie, Craig and Scott, live in constant fear.

Normally when Mum and Dad argue, the children watch TV and desperately try to keep out of the way, for fear of becoming their father’s target…

BUT, when Wayne retrieves his gun and the constant screaming and shouting suddenly becomes dead silence, the children know their lives will never be the same again.

This is the case of Joyce Chant, now on Despicable Beings.

E22 From Living in the Walls to Murder: The Escalation of Daniel LaPlante

“Okay, enough Tina!”

“What?”

“This isn’t funny anymore. First you pretend you didn’t drink the milk in fridge or my bottle of whiskey, then you hide me and your sister’s items pretending it’s an entity from the beyond. Now but you’ve pin our family photo to the wall with a knife! You’ve gone too far.”

Dad, I promise it wasn’t me. I think it’s a ghost, Karen and I tried to contact mom on a Ouija board after she passed away and now, I think her or someone else haunting us.”

The Bowen home is in disarray. Items in the home are moving on it’s own, the milk is finishing when no one is in the home and even on a few occasions, messages are written in mayonnaise and ketchup on the wall!

Frank Bowen believes his daughters, Karen and Tina are playing tricks on each other. Tina believes her recently deceased mother or someone else is haunting the home, but the truth is so frighting.

This is the case of the ‘boy in the wall’, and the escalation of Daniel LaPlante, now on Despicable

But it wasn’t until the car U-turns, drives towards them, then suddenly stops and four teenagers jump out the car, carrying machetes and starts running towards them is when the boys knew that enmity danger.

E19 He Recorded his torture sessions! The possible 17 victims of Maury Travis

May the 22nd 2002, St. Louis Post-Dispatch reporter Bill Smith receives a letter. He recently wrote about the murder of Teresa Wilson and how he believed there was a serial killer at work. The letter It’s on brown paper and on top of the paper, has a beautiful design of flowers, grapes, a beehive and it even includes multiple farming equipment. And underneath the lovely design is a message typed using ‘Lucida Handwriting’, a cursive font and in red the letter starts,

“Dear Bill, nice sob story about Teresa Wilson. Write one about greenwade write a good one and I’ll tell you where many others are to prove im real here’s direction to number seventeen search in a fifty yard radius from the X put the story in the Sunday paper like the last.”

The letter also included a computer-generated map with a X marking the spot where the letter writer last left “number 17” but number 17 of what exactly?

Well, the 17th murder victim. The letter writer is mocking Bill Smith and not only claiming that he is the murderer of Teresa Wilson but also claiming that that he’s killed at least 17 people.

This letter sent to mock and beg for acknowledgement will be the downfall of a serial killer who took pleasure in his victims pain, so much so he even taped his torture sessions.

This is the case of Maury Travis, now on Despicable Beings.

E17 Dangerously Drunk: The murder of the Chervus

“Hello, my name is Paul and I’m an alcoholic.”

“Hello Paul.”

Paul Cox is 2 months into his sobriety and is attending Alcoholics Anonymous to aid his journey. He has support from his family and girlfriend, who helped him seek help. He’s following a 12-step program and he’s working on the 4th and 5th steps. Which I’m paraphrasing to Making an inventory of your wrongdoings and the 5th step is, in a nutshell, admitting the wrongdoings to yourself, a higher power and to another human being.

Paul follows the program and confesses to multiple members of the AA his regrets and mistakes.

“I think I killed someone, actually I killed two people. I stabbed them. There was blood everywhere.”

This is the cautionary tale of when a fragile mind loses control due to alcohol, leading to tragedy.

E15 She lived with her parent’s bodies for four years! | The case of Virginia McCullough

On the 15th of September 2023, Essex police raid a home on Pump Hill in Great Baddow near Chelmsford. They are looking for an elderly couple, 70-year-old John and his wife 71-year-old Lois McCullough. They have not been seen anyone in four years and Essex County council’s safeguarding team wanted police to do a welfare check.

Police smash the open door, crawl in from the bottom. “it’s the police! Stay where you are!” pointing what I believe to be a teaser gun.

35-year-old, Virginia seems to be the only occupant in the house. She’s the couple’s youngest daughter. She’s calm and collected when police arrive and listens to everything police as to say. Then she says,

“I need to tell you about what’s on the top floor as well.”

 “My dad’s body’s in there.”

Police shocked by Virginia nonchalant demeanor respond, “right, okay. Where’s your mum.”

 “Erm, a little more complicated,

“Where will we find your mum?”

Virginia McCullough goes to explain where exactly her mum was and what exactly happened to her parents. When she’s finished, she turns to an officer and says,

“Cheer up, at least you’ve caught the bad guy.”

But what happened to Virginia’s parents? And what exactly did Virginia do to become the “bad guy”?

This is the case of Virginia McCullough, episode 15 on Despicable Beings.

E14 The Matamoros Cult: The Murder of Mark Kilroy

“HA! I’m invincible. I’m bulletproof, I’m protected.” Serafin scoffs. “Do what you must. I’ll be perfectly fine in the end.”

“Where is he? Where is Mark Kilroy?”

Serafin Hernandez Garcia is not concerned by the relentless questioning of the Mexican federal police. Despite the fact they found 100’s of pounds of marijuana on his property, a ranch. He knows nothing will come of it. Afterall, he has El Padrino (The Godfather) on his side. So, what’s the point of hiding? I mean honestly, why lie?

Serafin calmly responds “I kidnapped him.”

Officer Juan Benitez Ayala fed up with Garcia’s indifference repeats “Where is Mark Kilroy?”

“Over there.”

How did we get here? What does 21-year-old American pre-med student called Mark Kilroy has to do with a drug bust in Mexico? And mostly importantly, who is El Pandino?

All questions will be answered in this episode, the Matamoros cult and the case of missing student Mark Kilroy.

E13 His Daughter, His Wife and His Victim: The case of Steven Pladl

“And I now pronounce you Husband and wife, you may now kiss the bride.”

What a beautiful ceremony. The blushing bride, the happy husband, surrounded and supported by BOTH parents. What a lovely sight and the cherry on top is Katie, the bride is pregnant with the couple’s first child, Steven already has three but the very first child Denise was given up for adoption.

Now I must admit, the parents on both sides, Steven’s Mum and Katie’s adopted parents were not very supportive of Steven and Katie’s relationship at first.

I mean she IS 20, he’s 42. So, okay yes, they are not the most traditional couple, I mean Katie wore a short tight black showing off her beautiful baby bump and Steven wore jeans to their Wedding, but it’s your wedding, you can wear whatever you want. And okay yes, Steven did just get divorced 2 months ago, BUT it’s true love between Katie and Steven, right?

Well, those details were the least of the parents issue with this union. Do you remember when I said Steven’s first child was adopted? Remember when I said Katie was adopted? Are you putting the disgusting puzzle pieces together?

Yes, Steven Pladl is Katie Pladl’s, his now WIFE’s BIOLOGICAL FATHER!

This is the case of Steven and Katie Pladl, his daughter, his wife and unfortunately, his victim.

E12 ‘The Man who killed Halloween’ Ronald Clark O’Bryan

Knock, knock, knock! Trick or Treat, smell my feet, give me something good to eat. And the children wait.

There were no lights on in this house, but do you think the kids of Deer Park, Texas are going to let something like darkness get in their way of their sugar fix? Absolutely not!

It’s Halloween night, October the 31st, 1974 and the goal is clear, CANDY, sweets, fun sized, super-sized, chocolate, lollipops, all the good stuff. So, when Ronald Clark O’Bryan was trick-a-treating with his children, 8-year-old Timothy, 5-year-old Elizabeth and joined by his neighbour, Jim Bates and his son, so when they reached a dark home, possibly because the owner was out or they just didn’t want to be bothered, the children still wanted to try for candy. They knock on the door, sing the rhyme and wait.

“No one’s there, we should try the next house, no one’s home.” But how could Ronald stand the disappointed look on the children’s faces.

“You go on ahead, maybe the owner just misplaced the sweets.”

Ronald’s patience would pay off when he returns to the group with a handful of 21 inches or 53.3cm of Pixy Stixs. Which are plastic tubes filled with powered sour candies.

“Guess what guys, there was someone in the house and look.”

I’m sure the kids thought they hit the motherload. I’m sure they thought that later that night they would revel in sugary goodness.

So how did a typical Halloween night and giant Pixy Stixs end with one child’s murder? And how did a staple saved the others’ lives?

This is the case of the Trick or Treat murder. The reason real your parents would always check your candies before you were allowed to eat them. Now on Despicable Beings.

E11 ‘You Can’t Leave ME!’ Zatoon Bibi: The Murder of Tanveer Iqbal

Please come, our two kids want to sing you happy birthday. They’ve got a cake waiting for you. I know we are not getting along but come for the children not for me.

How could any loving parent say no to that request? Your two kids want to sing you happy birthday plus cake? I’ll be there. Tanveer Iqbal felt the same.

On the 16th of January 2016, Tanveer Iqbal agreed to visit the home of his ex and mother of his two children, Zatoon Bibi. The couple had been estranged since Tanveer left Zatoon for another women. Yes, a tale as old as time. The heartbreak, the betrayal 8 years, 8 long years Zatoon poured her heart into her relationship with Tanveer, raised two kids together and then he throws that all away and leaves her, for his wife. How dare he!

Yes, you heard me correctly. Tanveer broke up with Zatoon to be with his wife of 13 years and mother of his first two children, Nasreen. The couple were in a torrid love affair that lasted for 8 years that resulted in two children. In fact, Nasreen knew about Zatoon, and the two women got along very well. Well, that was until a certain video that we will get into later on. Tanveer was left to choose one or the another and Tanveer chose Nasreen. Zatoon was shocked and heartbroken, she felt cased aside BUT as a good mum she must put her feelings aside for her two youngest children.

Oh, did I forget to mention that Zatoon Bibi had 4 children before she even met Tanveer, with her HUSBAND, Gul Nawaz. And that both Tanveer and Zatoon were married and carried on an affair with each other. Messy, messy, messy.

Despite a relationship that no one would expect on an episode of Jerry Springer, or as this is an English case, Jeremy Kyle, Zatoon has still invited Tanveer over to see his on his birthday and Tanveer is on his way.

So Zatoon is waiting for Tanveer with her 15-year-old son, and her ex-husband Gul but do you know who’s not there? Zatoon’s two kids with Tanveer.

Unfortunately, Tanveer Iqbal would never been seen alive again.

E10 BTK: The Secret life of Dennis Radar

In October 1974, the days go by just like any other for the Wichita Eagle Newspaper Staff. They receive 100’s letters and phone call every day with information that could lead to the next biggest scoop. Early that same year on the 15th of January 1974, the community was rocked to its core by the horrific murders of the Otero family. 4 members killed for no apparent reason and currently, there was three men in custody. But now the staff members of the Wichita Eagle receive a phone call informing them that inside the Wichita Public Library is a textbook and hidden inside that textbook is a letter. This letter writer claimed that the men in custody are falsely accused, and he is the real killer of the Oteros.

 Quote,

"Those three dudes you have in custody are just talking to get publicity for the Otero murders, they know nothing at all. I did it by myself and with no one’s help. There has been no talk either. Let's put this straight."

The letter had many spelling mistakes, grammatical errors and seems to be using words even the writer doesn’t understand in an attempt to sound smart and ordinally sounding like the rambles of another attention seeker, but the letter goes on to, in graphic gory detail provide information only the killer would know. Afterwards, he continues.

“I’m sorry this happen to the society...It hard to control myself. You probably call me 'psychotic with sexual perversion hang-up.' Where this monster enter my brain I will never know. But, it here to stay. How does one cure himself? If you ask for help, that you have killed four people, they will laugh or hit the panic button and call the cops”.

Although, the letter writer does seem to be struggling with their urges and inability to stop, he goes on to taunt the police by saying “I can’t stop it so, the monster goes on, and hurt me as wall as society. Maybe you can stop him. I can’t. Good luck hunting,”

The reason for the letter is clear. The killer wants notoriety for the killings, a catch me if you can, and he even gives himself a name that would stick and also warns that he will kill again, ending the letter with. "P.S. Since sex criminals do not change their M.O. or by nature cannot do so, I will not change mine. The code word for me will be… Bind them, torture them, kill them, B.T.K., you see he's at it again,"

Yes, this the cases of one of the world’s most infamous serial killers, Dennis Radar, BTK.

Despicable Beings
E9 The Jealous Stepmum| The Murder of 10-year-old Scotty Baker

Ruth Baker is so excited. She’s on her way to collect her youngest child, 10-year-old Scotty Baker at school instead of him taking the bus to his grandma’s house. She wants to spend some extra time with him before he goes traveling with his father long hall trucking over the Thanksgiving weekend. The couple were divorced, and this was the first Thanksgiving she would be without her youngest child. “He’s going to be so surprised. I can’t wait to see his face light up when he sees me.”

Ruth drives to Paces Creek Elementary school with her older daughter. Ruth stays in the car while her daughter goes to collect Scotty. “There’s no way he’ll expect me and his sister to collect him. He’ll be so happy.” All of these thoughts must have been going through Ruth’s head while she waits for her daughter to bring Scotty out.

Ruth waits and waits.

Then she sees her daughter exiting the school but, no Scotty. “where’s your brother?” “I don’t know he’s not in school, I asked his friends and his teachers.”

There’s no way Ruth Baker could have ever guessed that she would never see her beloved son, scotty again. And the reason? Pure unadulterated jealously.

This is the case where a fully grown adult’s green-eyed monster would lash out and end the life of a 10-year-old boy. The Jealous Stepmum: The murder of Donald ‘Scotty’ Baker.
