Your IQ alone won’t bring you happiness, productivity or success
Creativity Conversations with Greg Menendez, episode 52. Greg is a facilitator and coach whose passion is to help people, teams and cultures realize their potential. When Greg was just 5 years old, he asked his father (a doctor), “why do we have two brains?” pointing to the ‘squiggly bit’ in the head and the stomach! Since then, he has held a deep fascination for how the brain, and now the mind, works. This fascination in human behavior led to a career in brand marketing, culminating with Greg being the Marketing Director at Nike New Zealand. There’s an old adage in branding which says “Strong brands are built upon an emotional connection”. So Greg sought to understand how people emotionally connect. Fast forward and Greg spent over 25 years advising business owners and leaders in brand strategy. Greg observed a curious pattern in performance variability which didn’t appear to be related to intelligence, industry experience or resources. What was causing this variation in human performance?  Greg was fortunate to come across a new paradigm for human psychology that profoundly changed his life and explained the variation in performance he had both experienced and witnessed in his clients. Greg now shares this paradigm full time.  Greg lives New Zealand at Waihi Beach in the Bay of Plenty with his wife Anna and their 3 boys.  To find out more about Greg and what he offers, go to https://www.likeneverbefore.co.nz.   -Creativity Conversations explores the nature of our infinite creative potential. Say Yes or Say No but Don't Say Maybe
Creativity Conversations with Steve Marques, episode 50. Chef Steve is a classically trained chef whose current creative endeavor is ice cream! Some of the more innovative flavors he’s concocted include (but aren’t limited to) balsamic strawberry, chicken N waffle, tomato tarragon and shiro miso caramel. How DOES he come up with these amazing creations?   A California native, Steve has worked with some of the titans of the culinary world, including David Chang at Momofuku and Eric Ripert at Le Bernardin. Steve takes his expertise and expansive perspective into everything he does. Those who know him refer to him as a combination chef-poet-dreamer.    Steve is an expert at paying attention to inspiration, which for him is more of a light tap on the shoulder rather than a banging on the door. He’s willing to make mistakes, to be “wrong”, stay curious and open. For him, the artistry of food is a full body experience, taking into consideration everything that happens as you walk in the door: the way the room looks, the feel of the ambience, the taste of the food, the noise level, the lighting, the decor. It’s not just food on a plate.   Locally based in Houston, TX, Steve was the chef owner of The Burger Guys and Executive Chef for The Tasting Room and BRC.He currently owns Craft Creamery with his wife Kim Kaase. Steve has many local awards for “Best Of” in both the Houston TX and Sunnyvale CA areas. He was also a finalist for the 2020 Price Tower Art Center Frank Lloyd Wright chef artist in residence.   Choose your preferred method of enjoying the program: Audio:  Video:    To find out more about Steve Marques, visit  http://www.craftcreameryhtx.com   -Creativity Conversations explores the nature of our infinite creative potential. What's Your Noise to Signal Ration?
"You Change because it makes sense to you. It's that simple." Creativity Conversations with Rolf Evenson, episode 49, another interview in the Good Business Series. My guest this week is a wise soul, Rolf Evenson, who shared a deep understanding of where peace of mind originates. Quietly profound and deeply moving, we talked about life and business and everything in between. Rolf is a founder of Clearmind Advisors, a global leadership consultancy specializing in helping leaders from around the world lead with clarity, insight, and confidence. Their mission is to transform business best practices by increasing awareness of the human dimension. Rolf’s curiosity about the human dimension of leadership developed early. Rolf spent fifteen years leading wilderness expeditions, Outward Bound courses, climbing the great walls of Yosemite, paddling the length of Lake Superior, and leading dog sled expeditions. These adventures provided a virtual laboratory for studying the human capacity for both high and low performance under duress. Rolf has a Masters’s Degree in Architecture. Working with interdisciplinary design teams on complex projects, he developed a profound curiosity about what made some project teams come together brilliantly while others failed. Along the way, he was extremely fortunate to discover fundamental principles for how the human mind works - a crucial, almost always overlooked, variable in organizational change and human performance.  In 1999, he founded ClearMind Advisors, He is a trusted mentor to leaders from renowned medical institutions, space research labs, telecom and power companies, and global name brands in the US, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand. Sue Kearney: It's All About the Flow
Creativity Conversations with Sue Kearney, Episode 43. Sue's a maker. She makes art, websites, healing potions, and beauty products — magic of all kinds. Sue mentors and teaches her unique take on living your best life, making your unique mark, and living in and from joy more and from stress and angst less. One of her mottos is “simplify your life.” As Sue said recently: “Apparently, I’m all about flow. Fluid art, paintings, collages, ornaments, healing potions, and beauty products. Being in open connection with clients, collaborators, and loved ones." Sue has described herself as a “barely tamed hippie” and a recovering know-it-all. (TBH, Sue’s still convinced that she knows a thing or two and has plenty to teach. It’s just that she’s less committed to making you agree with her opinion.) As has happened for many, the pandemic year has been one of big change for Sue Kearney. She’s in the process of simplifying and clarifying her work in the world. She just launched her first e-course and has three more coming right behind. Partly legacy work (Sue’s 70 and is honoring her daughter’s request to “Write it all down, mom, all the recipes, everything.”), partly a clear change in direction: more simplicity, more ease, more spaciousness, more availability to being of service. You can check out Sue's brand-new, just-launched new website at www.suekearney.com and follow her on Instagram.
