Jesus cradles us in hope as He cradles our babies in Heaven. What if the hope of Heaven had the power to heal your heart after the loss of your baby? Miscarriage, stillbirth, and infant loss are heartbreaking experiences that no mother should ever have to endure. Drowning in sadness, you cry out in pain, "God, where are You? Why did You let my baby die?" You feel abandoned by Him and question His goodness. How will you ever live without your precious baby? Will you ever see him or her again? Ashley Opliger asked these same questions when her daughter, Bridget, was born into Heaven at 24 weeks in her first pregnancy. In a crisis of faith, Ashley chose to surrender her suffering and allow God to heal her heart. She found purpose in her pain when she started Bridget's Cradles, a nonprofit that now comforts thousands of grieving families across the country. Through her own story of heartbreak, Ashley will guide you on a journey to trust God's promise to restore your joy, use your grief for good, and spend eternity with your baby in Heaven. Podcast episodes feature hope-filled messages, stories, and guest interviews. Grieving mothers will be reminded that though we may grieve, we do not grieve without hope! Cradled in Hope | Podcast for Grieving Moms | Biblical Hope for Miscarriage, Stillbirth, & Infant Loss
11 | Cradled in Hope Book Club | Ch 10 | Ashley Opliger

In this episode, Ashley walks through the many ways grief after losing a baby can trigger anxiety, panic, and overwhelm in daily life. Centered on Chapter 10 of Cradled in Hope, she shares real examples of past, present, and future (anticipatory) triggers and how they impact grieving moms emotionally and physically. Drawing from personal experiences and biblical wisdom, Ashley offers practical tools for navigating triggers and renewing your mind through Christ.

Ashley shared:

  • The difference between past, present, and future triggers—and examples of each from real life (like birth trauma, seeing baby items in stores, or dreading future events)

  • Why grieving moms may relive the past or spiral in anxious thoughts (including "what if" ruminations and anticipatory anxiety)

  • The neuroscience behind trauma and anxiety—including how amygdala hijack and the nervous system affect your reactions

  • Practical ways to protect your heart and set healthy boundaries during grief (social media breaks, saying no to events, unfollowing or muting triggers)

  • How to prepare for difficult situations and give yourself grace to step away if needed

  • The power of grounding techniques and Scripture to calm your nervous system and refocus on the present

  • How worship, biblical imagery, and speaking affirmations can bring peace in moments of panic

  • Encouragement to seek counseling or professional help for intense grief, anxiety, or depression—alongside Christ-centered support groups

Ashley reminds grieving moms that protecting your heart is not selfish—it’s a wise and loving act that gives Jesus space to heal you. When we choose to invite Him into the overwhelm, He replaces our panic with His peace.

Cradled in Hope | Podcast for Grieving Moms | Biblical Hope for Miscarriage, Stillbirth, & Infant Loss
10 | Cradled in Hope Book Club | Ch 9 | Ashley Opliger

In this episode, Ashley vulnerably shares how spiritual warfare often intensifies in the wake of pregnancy and infant loss. Centered on Chapter 9 of Cradled in Hope, “The Good Fight: When You Encounter the Enemy’s Attacks,” she recounts her own season of darkness on bedrest with Bridget—and the moment she voiced aloud, “Nothing good will ever come from this.” In that valley of isolation, fear, and pain, Ashley came to understand how the enemy targets grieving moms with lies meant to destroy their hope and faith.

Through personal testimony and biblical truth, Ashley exposes the enemy’s tactics: sowing lies about God’s goodness, confusing us with counterfeit answers, and isolating us when we are already hurting. But she also shares how we can fight back—with Scripture, discernment, and the full armor of God. This episode is both a warning and an encouragement to moms walking through spiritual battle in grief.

In this episode, Ashley shared:

  • The types of lies the enemy speaks to grieving moms—and how to recognize his tactics

  • How isolation and pain make grieving moms especially vulnerable to the enemy’s attacks

  • A biblical understanding of how Satan schemes to steal, kill, and destroy in seasons of suffering

  • The truth that our fight is not against flesh and blood, and how the armor of God equips us to stand

  • A breakdown of the “rotten seeds” the enemy plants and the “spoiled fruit” they produce

  • A side-by-side comparison of God’s voice versus the enemy’s voice

Ashley reminds us that while the enemy is cunning, Jesus is our Shepherd—and when we listen closely for His voice, we will be led into truth, peace, and hope.

Cradled in Hope | Podcast for Grieving Moms | Biblical Hope for Miscarriage, Stillbirth, & Infant Loss
9 | Cradled in Hope Book Club | Ch 8 | Ashley Opliger

In this episode, Ashley speaks to the deep wounds that can come from others’ words—or their silence—after the loss of a baby. Centered on Chapter 8 of Cradled in Hope, “They Know Not What They Do: When You Are Hurt by Others,” she gently walks alongside grieving moms who have experienced secondary pain in the wake of their primary loss. Whether through insensitive comments or heartbreaking absence, Ashley shares how Jesus understands—and how He calls us to respond with grace.

Through personal stories, biblical wisdom, and practical tools, Ashley invites listeners to process their relational grief with honesty and hope. With heartfelt compassion, she shares how Jesus, even in His own suffering, forgave those who hurt Him—and how we, too, can follow His example, even when it’s hard.

In this episode, Ashley shared:

  • How a stranger’s comment at a park triggered unexpected waves of grief

  • The “Tale of Two Cups” analogy that explains why small remarks can feel so big when our emotional cup is full

  • The concept of the “Grace Cup”—a mindset of pre-filling our hearts with grace for others

  • Real-life examples of insensitive things people say—and how to lovingly respond or set boundaries

  • How to identify your love language in grief and communicate your specific needs to others

  • Why some friendships fade while others deepen—and how grief can clarify who your true community is

  • Encouragement to forgive those who’ve hurt you, even if they never realize it—just as Jesus did on the cross

  • An invitation to find support through Bridget’s Cradles’ Hope Online groups or your local community

Ashley reminds us that while grief may reveal who stands beside us and who stays silent, God is always faithful. And He often brings new, meaningful relationships in the midst of our pain. In Jesus, we find the grace to forgive, the wisdom to communicate, and the strength to heal.

Cradled in Hope | Podcast for Grieving Moms | Biblical Hope for Miscarriage, Stillbirth, & Infant Loss
8 | Cradled in Hope Book Club | Ch 7 | Ashley Opliger

In this episode, Ashley walks alongside grieving moms who are struggling with guilt, shame, or regret after the loss of their baby. Centered on Chapter 7 of Cradled in Hope, “Grace Upon Grace: When You Can’t Forgive Yourself,” she offers compassionate truth for the mom who wonders if she could have or should have done something differently. With tender honesty and biblical reassurance, Ashley shares how grace—not guilt—is the way forward.

Ashley shares her personal struggle with shame and how she once believed her body had failed her daughter. With real-life stories, scriptural encouragement, and an invitation to rest in the finished work of the cross, this episode helps grieving moms understand that self-forgiveness is possible through Christ—and that His mercy is more than enough.

In this episode, Ashley shared:

  • Why grieving moms often struggle with shame and regret after loss

  • Her personal battle with body resentment after Bridget’s stillbirth

  • The impact of living in broken bodies in a broken world—and how that shapes our perspective

  • The difference between hindsight and control, and how we can’t hold ourselves accountable for things we didn’t know

  • Why we need to extend the same compassion to ourselves that we would give to a friend

  • What it means to forgive our bodies, our decisions, and our broken expectations through the lens of grace

  • A biblical understanding of how our babies were knit together body, soul, and spirit

  • The eternal hope we have because our babies are alive in Heaven

Ashley reminds us that our bodies were never meant to carry the blame. They were created by God, designed to be temples for His Spirit—and through Christ, we are forgiven and free. Our babies were miraculously knit together, and even if their lives were brief on earth, they are eternal in Heaven. There is no condemnation in Christ—only grace upon grace.

Cradled in Hope | Podcast for Grieving Moms | Biblical Hope for Miscarriage, Stillbirth, & Infant Loss
7 | Cradled in Hope Book Club | Ch 6 | Ashley Opliger

In this episode, Ashley walks tenderly through one of the hardest struggles grieving mothers face: trusting that God is still good, even after the loss of a baby. In Chapter 6 of Cradled in Hope, “For He is Good: When You Question Who God Is,” she unpacks the emotional, theological, and spiritual wrestlings that come when prayers go unanswered—and babies die.

To help grieving hearts rebuild trust in God’s character, Ashley shares five biblical attributes that anchor our faith in who God is, even in the most devastating times of life. This chapter is structured around these five truths as pillars of hope for moms who are asking, “If God is good, why did this happen?” With honesty, compassion, and Scripture, Ashley reminds us that God’s goodness is not changed by our circumstances—but by His unchanging character.

The 5 Key Attributes of God that Ashley explores in the chapter:

  1. God is Good– He is blameless, loving, and kind.

  2. God is Sovereign – He is in control, even when our lives feel like chaos.

  3. God is Just– He is fair and righteous, and will make all things right one day.

  4. God is Faithful– He keeps His promises and never leaves us.

  5. God is Immutable  (Unchanging) – His character never changes. He is constant and secure.

Ashley acknowledges how grief can shake our faith and make us question everything we thought we knew about God. But rather than hiding from the hard questions, she invites us to bring them into the light. Through Scripture and personal experience, she guides listeners back to the firm foundation of who God is, even in the midst of their heartbreak.

Cradled in Hope | Podcast for Grieving Moms | Biblical Hope for Miscarriage, Stillbirth, & Infant Loss
6 | Cradled in Hope Book Club | Ch 5 | Ashley Opliger

In this episode, Ashley takes us on a hope-filled journey into the wonder of Heaven. In Chapter 5 of Cradled in Hope, “Heaven on Earth: When You Wonder Where Your Baby Is,” she helps grieving moms find peace in knowing where their babies are now (the current Heaven)—and where they will one day be (the New Heaven). Drawing from Scripture and trusted theological resources, Ashley paints a biblically rooted picture of Heaven, offering comfort and confidence that our children are safe in the arms of Jesus.

Ashley invites listeners to imagine the most beautiful place they’ve ever seen, then reminds them that even the most breathtaking views on earth pale in comparison to the splendor of Heaven. She explains what the Bible says about the current Heaven, the future New Earth, and the resurrection to come. This episode is filled with hope and assurance for every mom longing to hold her baby again.

In this episode, Ashley shared:

  • Why this chapter was one of the first she wrote—and why Heaven is central to our hope

  • Her personal “Heaven on earth” memory in St. Lucia, where Bridget’s life began

  • Why Heaven is more than an ethereal, cloud-filled space—and how our perceptions may need reshaping

  • The difference between the current Heaven and the future New Earth (the eternal Heaven)

  • What it means that our babies are “with Jesus” now, even as we await the resurrection of glorified bodies

  • Insights from Heaven by Randy Alcorn, including a chart on common assumptions vs. biblical truths

  • Scriptural promises from Revelation 21 and 22 that describe our eternal home

  • Why our babies are not angels—and why that’s actually really good news

  • The question of “How old will my baby be in Heaven?” and the peace that comes from trusting God's plan

  • Four biblical reasons Ashley believes babies go to Heaven, including Jesus’ love for children and David’s words in 2 Samuel 12

Ashley reminds us that our reunion with our babies is not just wishful thinking—it is a promise grounded in God’s Word. She invites you to picture that reunion: holding your baby again, walking hand in hand, never to be separated. Heaven is not only real—it is more beautiful than we can imagine.

Cradled in Hope | Podcast for Grieving Moms | Biblical Hope for Miscarriage, Stillbirth, & Infant Loss
5 | Cradled in Hope Book Club | Ch 4 | Ashley Opliger

In this episode, Ashley addresses one of the most common and vulnerable aspects of grief and faith: doubt. In Chapter 4 of Cradled in Hope, “A Firm Foundation: When You Wrestle with Doubts,” she shares why it’s vital to know what you believe about Jesus and why. With honesty and conviction, Ashley lays out the case for Christ’s identity as the risen Savior and explains why our hope of seeing our babies again rests entirely on the truth of the Gospel.

This chapter provides a gentle introduction to apologetics and helps grieving moms wrestle through the hard questions of faith, especially when it feels like God is distant or unseen. Ashley walks through biblical evidence, historical testimony, and personal reflection, making a compelling case for why Jesus is not a lunatic or liar—but truly the Lord. When the ground beneath us feels shaky, this chapter offers a firm place to stand: Christ alone.

In this episode, Ashley shared:

  • Why it’s essential to know why you believe what you believe, especially when grieving

  • A raw moment of doubt: wishing to see Heaven and Bridget face-to-face for comfort and assurance

  • The struggle of believing in a God we cannot see, and Paul’s encouragement to live by faith, not by sight (2 Corinthians 5:6–7)

  • The example of “Doubting Thomas” and why even the apostles wrestled with belief after the resurrection

  • A breakdown of C.S. Lewis’ famous apologetics argument: Jesus is either a liar, a lunatic, or the Lord

  • Why the testimony of the disciples—who were tortured and martyred for proclaiming Jesus—matters so deeply

  • The power of eyewitness accounts and how the resurrection is central to our eternal hope

  • Bridget’s name meaning (“Strongest Faith”) and the significance of naming your baby

  • Why our core beliefs about life, death, and eternity shape how we grieve and heal

Ashley invites listeners to reflect on their own faith journey and ask honest questions. She reminds us that faith doesn’t mean we never wrestle, but it means we keep leaning in, trusting that Jesus truly is who He said He is: the Way, the Truth, and the Life.

Cradled in Hope | Podcast for Grieving Moms | Biblical Hope for Miscarriage, Stillbirth, & Infant Loss
4 | Cradled in Hope Book Club | Ch 3 | Ashley Opliger

In this episode, Ashley shares the heart of the Christian faith and the unshakable hope grieving moms have in Jesus. In Chapter 3 of Cradled in Hope, “The Gospel Changes Everything: When You Are Desperate for Hope,” Ashley walks through the full Gospel message—from creation to restoration—and shows how it directly speaks to the pain of being separated from our babies. In our grief, the Gospel isn’t just comforting—it’s everything. It’s the only hope strong enough to anchor us when we’re desperate for answers, for meaning, and for reunion.

With theological clarity and compassionate understanding, Ashley reminds listeners that death is not the end of the story. Because of Jesus’ death and resurrection, we can have confidence that we will see our babies again. She explains the Gospel simply and beautifully, extending an invitation to believe—or believe again—that Jesus alone has conquered sin and death. This chapter is a powerful turning point in the book club, grounding our grief in the greatest news ever told.

In this episode, Ashley shared:

  • Her most painful moment of separation from Bridget, and how that moment pointed her to the hope of reunion through Jesus

  • Why our grief makes sense in the context of the fall—and how the Gospel is the only remedy for the brokenness we feel

  • A clear, simple explanation of the Gospel and its four-part story: Creation, Fall, Redemption, and Restoration

  • The bad news of sin and Hell—and why we need to understand this in order to grasp the beauty of the Good News

  • How Jesus' sacrifice saves us from eternal separation and secures our place with our babies in Heaven

  • Why believing in Jesus is as simple as confessing with your mouth and believing in your heart (Romans 10:9–10)

  • The promise that one day, we will be reunited with our children in glorified bodies on a restored earth

  • A loving invitation for any listener who has not placed their faith in Jesus to do so today

Ashley invites each listener to reflect on the beauty of the Gospel—not just as a theological idea, but as the most personal and powerful truth we can cling to in our grief. Jesus changes everything, and His resurrection gives us the promise of our own—and of seeing our babies again.

Cradled in Hope | Podcast for Grieving Moms | Biblical Hope for Miscarriage, Stillbirth, & Infant Loss
3 | Cradled in Hope Book Club | Ch 2 | Ashley Opliger

In this episode, Ashley explores one of the most tender and difficult aspects of grief: the feeling of abandonment by God. In Chapter 2, "Broken and Bleeding: When You Feel Abandoned by God," Ashley shares her personal wrestling with faith during her pregnancy with Bridget and the raw questions that arose when her prayers went unanswered. With profound honesty and biblical truth, she unpacks how to grieve in the tension between what our hearts feel and what our heads know to be true.

This chapter is an invitation to examine your core beliefs about God, especially when pain tempts you to question His goodness or presence. Ashley shares how to shift your perspective from a feeling-driven view of God to a truth-rooted faith grounded in Scripture. Through theology, personal experience, and practical steps, she reminds us that we are not alone in our grief—Jesus is with us in the darkness, and there is light at the end of the tunnel.

In this episode, Ashley shared:

  • Her personal struggle with feeling forsaken by God during her pregnancy complications with Bridget

  • Why understanding original sin is key to rightly viewing the cause of suffering and baby loss

  • A powerful moment of identifying with Jesus as broken and bleeding—and how our Savior relates to our physical and emotional pain

  • The difference between letting your feelings shape your view of God vs. letting God’s truth reshape your feelings and circumstances

  • How a right view of God leads to trust, and how a wrong view leads to mistrust

  • The danger of the prosperity gospel and how it can distort our understanding of suffering and blessing

  • The critical importance of reading the Bible with the right hermeneutic (interpretation method)

  • Why Scripture is the balm our souls need in grief, even when it feels hard to open the Bible

Ashley invites listeners to sit honestly with their doubts, bring their questions to God, and allow His Word to bring clarity, comfort, and truth in the middle of confusion. She gently reminds us that the tunnel of grief is still dark, even with Jesus—but with Him, we are never alone, and there is light at the end.

Cradled in Hope | Podcast for Grieving Moms | Biblical Hope for Miscarriage, Stillbirth, & Infant Loss
2 | Cradled in Hope Book Club | Ch 1 | Ashley Opliger

In this episode, Ashley reflects on the raw emotions that come in the early days of grief after pregnancy or infant loss. Centered on Chapter 1 of Cradled in Hope, “Sitting with Jesus | When You Are Overwhelmed with Sadness,” she invites grieving moms to slow down, feel the weight of their sorrow, and meet Jesus in their pain.

Ashley explains how grief is not just sadness—it’s love. She encourages moms to express that love in healthy, meaningful ways that honor their baby in Heaven. With personal stories, biblical wisdom, and practical survival tips, this chapter is a gentle invitation to sit in the sadness with Jesus, who grieves with us and comforts us in our sorrow.

In this episode, Ashley shared:

  • Real reflections from grieving moms on what grief feels like

  • How grief is rooted in love, and why the pain is so deep when death has separated us from our baby

  • Personal experiences from the early days after Bridget’s death, and how Ashley found healing in the quiet space of sitting with Jesus

  • The cultural and personal pressures to “move on” from grief—and why true healing requires slowing down and lamenting

  • Practical ways to survive the early days of loss, including self-care, sleep, nutrition, and realistic expectations

  • Why Jesus is the safest place for our grief and how He connects us directly to our babies through His Spirit

  • Biblical truths from the story of Elijah and Jesus' promise to comfort those who mourn (Matthew 5:4)

Ashley reminds us that grief is rooted in deep love—and that we don’t have to hide our pain or rush our healing. With compassion and honesty, Ashley encourages grieving moms to let the tears fall and begin learning what it means to grieve with Jesus, one breath and one day at a time.

With warmth, vulnerability, and unwavering faith, Ashley shares how the book was born out of her ministry work, her personal healing journey following the loss of her daughter, Bridget, and her longing to walk alongside grieving mothers with truth and compassion.

They explore how the book was shaped by years of support group ministry at Bridget’s Cradles, Ashley’s own story of loss, and the refining grief of losing her father during the final stages of editing. In this tender and powerful episode, Ashley welcomes her dear friend Kristin Hernandez back to the Cradled in Hope Podcast—this time, not as the guest, but as the one asking the questions. Kristin, a longtime ministry partner, fellow grieving mom, and author of Sunlight in December, turns the microphone around to interview Ashley about her upcoming book, Cradled in Hope.

Together, they share a sacred and heartfelt conversation about grief, faith, and the story behind the book. Ashley opens up about the writing process, the spiritual and emotional depths she revisited to bring comfort to hurting moms, and how God’s timing—even through the tragedy of losing her father to a drunk driver—shaped the final manuscript. Kristin shares how deeply the book ministered to her heart, even a decade after the loss of her son, Ethan. Through tears and truth, these two friends remind grieving moms that they are seen, loved, and never alone.

  • Kristin’s personal reaction to reading the book and how God used it to minister to her heart, even ten years into her grief journey
  • The importance of meeting moms in both the raw pain of fresh loss and the long road of ongoing healing
  • How Ashley revisited her early grief through journals and how her father’s death during the editing process deepened the book’s emotional depth
  • Honoring Ashley’s dad, Steve Golik, in the book—including the poem he wrote for Bridget and the special story of editing the manuscript on his computer
  • The meaning behind the title Cradled in Hope and the cover illustration of Jesus cradling both a baby in Heaven and a grieving mom on earth
  • Why our hope isn’t wishful thinking—it’s rooted in the unshakable truth of Jesus, who holds both us and our babies
  • What to expect from the upcoming Cradled in Hope Book Club podcast series launching July 22

This episode is a gentle invitation to trust Jesus to heal your heart as He holds your baby in Heaven. Whether you are newly grieving or years into your journey, Cradled in Hope is a tender companion to walk with you toward healing, with Gospel truth and eternal hope on every page.
