2 Kings 21 Summary
2 Kings 21 recounts the reigns of Manasseh and Amon, kings of Judah.
Manasseh:
Manasseh becomes king at age 12 and rules for 55 years in Jerusalem. Unlike his father Hezekiah, Manasseh does evil in God’s sight—he rebuilds pagan altars, worships idols, and even puts idol altars in the temple. He leads Judah astray, practicing sorcery and shedding much innocent blood. God declares through prophets that, because of Manasseh’s sins, terrible judgment will come upon Jerusalem and Judah; they will be wiped out like a dish turned upside down.
Amon:
After Manasseh dies, his son Amon becomes king. He rules for two years, also doing evil and worshiping idols like his father. He is assassinated by his own officials, and then the people kill those assassins and make Amon’s son Josiah king.
Thus, this chapter marks a period of great evil in Judah, setting the stage for coming judgment.

2 Kings 19 Summary
In 2 Kings 19, King Hezekiah responds to the threats from the Assyrian king, Sennacherib. Distressed by the enemy’s blasphemous messages, Hezekiah seeks advice from the prophet Isaiah, asking for God’s help. Isaiah assures Hezekiah that God will defend Judah and that Sennacherib will not succeed.
Sennacherib sends another threatening letter, so Hezekiah goes to the temple and prays for deliverance, acknowledging God’s power and asking Him to save Jerusalem so that all nations will know He is the true God.
God answers through Isaiah, declaring that He has heard Hezekiah’s prayer and will protect Jerusalem. Isaiah prophesies that Sennacherib will return to his country and die by the sword. That night, an angel kills 185,000 Assyrian soldiers, forcing Sennacherib to retreat to Nineveh. Later, Sennacherib is killed by his own sons, fulfilling God’s prophecy. Through these events, God demonstrates His power and sovereignty, delivering Judah from destruction.Your words were found and I ate them 😋; Your words became a joy 😊 to me; the delight of my heart ❤️Jeremiah 15:16Originally inspired by J. 2 Kings 18 Summary
2 Kings 18 describes the reign of Hezekiah, king of Judah. Hezekiah becomes king at age 25 and rules for 29 years in Jerusalem. He is portrayed as a faithful and righteous king, removing idolatry from Judah, breaking down altars to other gods, and even destroying the bronze serpent that Moses had made because people had begun to worship it.
Hezekiah trusts in the Lord more than any king before or after him. During his reign, Assyria captures Samaria and exiles Israel for their unfaithfulness. Later, King Sennacherib of Assyria invades Judah and takes several fortified cities. Hezekiah tries to appease Sennacherib by paying tribute, but the Assyrians still threaten Jerusalem. Sennacherib sends officials to Jerusalem to intimidate the people, boasting that God cannot save them from Assyria.
The chapter ends with the people silent, following Hezekiah’s command not to answer the Assyrian envoys. The fate of Jerusalem is left unresolved in this chapter, setting up the events to follow in the next chapters.
