    All About The Music
    Somersault Studio
Imagine if we took an entertaining dive into your favourite music… and revealed what makes it so special. That’s what happens in All About The Music as composer and BBC broadcaster Neil Brand asks famous faces to gather their top hits and musical passions and join him around the piano for a chat… and a very close listen. Neil is music’s most effortless improviser and engaging storyteller. But above all he’s a fan of music, just like the rest of us. This is his chance to discuss old classics and discover new gems in the company of some brilliant, music-loving guests. Each guest brings a mix of music, and anything is up for grabs – from AC/DC to Alabama 3, or from Radiohead to RAYE. Emotion, nostalgia and utter joy pour out of guests as Neil gets to discuss and unpick every selection, with his piano close at hand. If you enjoy your music and like to find out just that little bit more, then All About The Music could be for you. Discover more about the show at allaboutthemusicpod.com

    Word In Your Ear
Mark Ellen, David Hepworth and Alex Gold

Mark Ellen and David Hepworth have been talking about and writing about music together and individually for a collective eighty years in magazines like Smash Hits, Mojo and The Word and on radio and TV programmes like "Rock On", "Whistle Test" and VH-1.

Over thirteen years ago, when working on the late magazine The Word, they began producing podcasts. Some listeners have been kind enough to say these have been very special to them. When the magazine folded in 2012 they kept the spirit of those podcasts alive in regular Word In Your Ear evenings in which they spoke to musicians and authors in front of an audience.

Over these years they've produced hundreds of hours of material. As of the Current Unpleasantness of 2020, they've produced yet hundreds of hours more with a little help from guests kind enough to digitally show them around their attics such as Danny Baker, Andy Partridge, Sir Tim Rice and Mark Lewisohn. For the full span of the Word In Your Ear world, visit wiyelondon.com.

    States of Independence
    Talkhouse / Cup & Nuzzle
States of Independence dives deep into the hidden histories of the world’s greatest independent record labels with the people that know them best – the founders who built them, and the artists who made them into the stuff of rock and roll legend. In season one, it’s the saga of Beggars Banquet – an iconic punk era label that would eventually spawn an indie empire. Featuring riotous tales from label founder, Martin Mills and a line-up of his highest-achieving alumni: Gary Numan, The Cult, Bauhaus, The Fall, The Charlatans, Love and Rockets, and so many more. All of them come together to tell the story of an organisation with the spirit of punk rock baked into its very DNA. ACCOMPANYING PLAYLIST: https://bit.ly/StatesPodPlaylist

So, Hear Me Out – the classical music podcast
    Southbank Centre
So, Hear Me Out is a brand new podcast from London’s Southbank Centre, exploring the big questions around classical music — and why it still matters today. Join hosts Linton Stephens (musician, broadcaster and Deputy Artistic Director of Chineke! Orchestra) and Gillian Moore (writer, broadcaster and Artistic Associate at Southbank Centre) as they challenge assumptions, unpick controversies, and share fresh ways of listening to the music you thought you knew. Each episode starts with a question — from “can classical music be laugh-out-loud funny?” to “is it okay to borrow instruments and styles from other cultures?” — and opens the door to two hand-picked pieces of music. Some you’ll recognise instantly, others might be brand new to you, but all will spark new perspectives. Expect surprising connections, plenty of feeling (not just theory), the occasional detour to Gillian’s piano, and a warm invitation into the classical world — no PhD required.
