Bonus Episode: Mirrorball Movie Cowboys S2 E1: Thank God It's Friday (1978)
The long overdue return of the Mirrorball Movie Cowboys podcast is finally here! Mulder and Stu (from the wonderful Midnight Movie Cowboys) podcast are both massive fans of everything Disco. So back in 2022 they decided to make an offshoot series of episodes focusing on Disco films and the soundtracks within them. Season 1 consisted of 3 episodes focusing on Boogie Nights (1997), The Last Days of Disco (1998) and 54 (1998) respectively and were re-released over the past 6 months. Season 2 will consist of 4 episodes, all of which have been recorded. The first episode of this new season see's us cover the classic Thank God It's Friday (1978). Featuring a stellar soundtrack and live performances from The Commodores and Donna Summer as well as co-starring Jeff Goldblum, Debra Winger and Paul Jabara, this film has it all! (almost) Episode 2 will see us cover Roller Boogie (1979) starring Linda Blair. Episode 3 was technically already released as WTM Ep. 343 Skatetown U.S.A. (1979). Episode 4 is a bit of a surprise and will hopefully be released around Christmas time. Be sure to check out the incredible Midnight Movie Cowboys podcast! They've been around roughly 15 years so there's plenty of episodes for you to comb through. These Mirrorball Movie Cowboys episodes will also be posted on their feed as well. Don't forget to check out our YouTube channel! We've been hard at work creating funny highlight videos to help promote the show so please take a look, like, subscribe, etc. You won't be disappointed. WTM Ep. 349: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003) With Zolly Becker !!
As we celebrate All Hallow's Eve, Zolly Becker joined us for a look back at the 2003 remake/reboot of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. This episode is jam-packed with discussion on all things Leatherface. We also touch on most of the Platinum Dunes Horror films from the 2000's. This one was a ton of fun to record. Enjoy. If you want even more Chainsaw-centric discussion we've done episodes previously on the original TCM, TCM 2 as well as the remake/reboot from 2022. We now have a YouTube channel! Bonus Episode: Mirrorball Movie Cowboys S1 E3: 54 (1998)
This special bonus episode is something Mulder and Stu (from the incredible Midnight Movie Cowboys podcast) concocted back in 2022. We're both unabashed Disco fans so we decided to start a new series of episodes that focused solely on Disco films and the music in them. We did three episodes and they were only available on the MMC YouTube page, until now. We decided to resurrect the series to talk about more Disco films and I thought that we should make the previous 3 episodes available as well. I have re-edited them a bit to add some music (something that wouldn't really fly on YouTube). This episode covers 54 (1998). We discuss all of the various cuts including the newer Director's Cut. We also discuss the club itself, Studio 54, its creators Ian Schrager and Steve Rubell and of course, the music! We have already recorded Episodes 1 and 2 of Season 2 in which we discussed Thank God it's Friday (1978) and Roller Boogie (1979) and it will be released after the Season 1 re-release, so in other words, there's plenty of Disco content coming your way so stay tuned. These episodes will also be available on the MMC feed and I believe the original video episodes are still on their YouTube channel as well. Enjoy! ***REMINDER*** WTM is now on YouTube! WTM Ep. 342: Superman (2025) with Zolly Becker!
We were once again joined by Zolly Becker to discuss the newest product offered up to the general public by James Gunn, Superman (2025). The first half of the episode we discuss the new film without spoilers, then Mulder reviews Watermelon Man (1970) to complete the movie challenge. What follows after that is about 45 additional minutes of Superman discussion WITH spoilers. There are a few tangents but we mostly stay on topic or at least topic adjacent and we pack a lot into this episode, or at least Zolly does. Enjoy! Our next episode cover's Mulder's birthday pick, Skatetown U.S.A. (1979). This should give you ample time to buy the blu ray, which is the only available option to watch it!
