DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A GOOD HEADLINE AND A BAD HEADLINE WITH FAVOUR ADEBOYE
In Today’s podcast episode,we will talk about the differences of a good and bad headline in writing, the average number of words to use in your headline and three catchy Formulas for your headline.
First off, what is a headline?
According to Wikipedia, a headline is that short text that summarizes the article below it.
We have good headlines and we have bad headlines. Bad headlines are those headlines that are not specific, are short on clarity, are general statements and unsupported claims are often deemed untrustworthy while good headlines are those headlines that are clear and specific. For a headline to be good, it should be clear and specific, it should tell the reader what the story is about, and should be interesting enough to draw them into reading the article.
Let's go into the five major characteristics of a good headline. What are the things a good headline must possess? What should a good headline have?
1. A good headline must be simple to understand
2. It should be Emotionally compelling
3. It should be Vetted
4. It should be targeted. When I say targeted, I mean direct and specific. Use concise and clear words.
5. A good headline must have the required length. Speaking of required length, it refers to the number of words a good headline must have.
