This Surah has 11 verses. It takes its name from verse 1: “وَالضُّحَىٰ” (By the morning brightness) where the word “الضحى” meaning “The Morning Brightness” appears. This Surah was revealed in Mecca most probably during the early days of Muhammad’s proclamation of his prophethood, and most likely was among the first ten surahs to be revealed.  This Surah addressed to Prophet Muhammad and assures him that his Lord had not forgotten him. As discussed in Surah Muddathir, history, ahadith and traditions tell us that the first revelation upon Muhammad was the first five verses of Surah Alaq but than there was a long interval and revelation stopped. This caused much pain and grief to the Prophet. So much so that he tried to reach at the top of the hill to throw himself down, but just when he tried to do so Angel Gabriel appeared and told him that he truly was a Prophet of God and the first experience of revelation was real and not his doubt or his mind’s creation.  Traditions tell that this was same sort of interval when for a period of time, the revelations stopped. The unbelievers mocked Prophet Muhammad saying that “Muhammad’s Lord has abandoned him.”  It is recorded in various traditions in Bukhari, Muslim and also by Ahmed bin Hanbal that there was a long interval and Angel Jibril was slow in coming to the Prophet of God PBUH. So the idolaters said, “Muhammad’s Lord has abandoned him.” Thus Allah revealed,  وَٱلضُّحَىٰ • وَٱلَّيۡلِ إِذَا سَجَىٰ • مَا وَدَّعَكَ رَبُّكَ وَمَا قَلَىٰ  By the forenoon. By the night when it darkens. Your Lord has not taken leave of you, [O Muhammad], nor has He detested [you].  On the explanation of “وَلَلْآخِرَةُ خَيْرٌ لَكَ مِنَ الْأُولَىٰ” “And the Hereafter is better for you than the first”  It applies on everything and every phase of time of Prophet Muhammad. History proved this verse was a miracle as every next moment for Prophet is this world was better than previous in terms of increase in his followers as well as spreading of message and dominance of Muslims over land and area. Then it also applies similarly to the worldly life of Prophet and hereafter. That’s why Prophet was so keen of going from this world that when on his death The Angel of Death told him that Allah Subhan Taalah had given him choice of remaining in this life forever and then going to Paradise or moving on to the company of Allah, he chose that which is with Allah over this world  Ahmad bin Hanbal, Tirmidhi, and Ibn Majah recorded a narration from Abdullah bin Masud who said, “The Prophet of God PBUH was lying down on a straw rug, and it left marks on his side. Then when he woke up, he began to rub his side. So I said, O Prophet of God PBUH, will you allow us to spread something soft over this straw rug. He replied,  مَالِي وَلِلدُّنْيَا، إِنَّمَا مَثَلِي وَمَثَلُ الدُّنْيَا كَرَاكِبٍ ظَلَّ تَحْتَ شَجَرَةٍ ثُمَّ رَاحَ وَتَرَكَهَا  I have nothing to do with this world. The parable of me and this world is like a rider who rests in the shade of a tree, then he passes on and leaves it.

Surah Al Muzammil is the 73rd Surah of the Holy Quran and is found in 29th para. This Surah was revealed in Makkah so it is referred to as “Makki” Surah and contains 20 verses, 227 Words, and 847 letters.

The person who recites Surah Al Muzammil in the Isha prayer or Tahajjud will get a pure heart and dies in the state of purity.

It is said by the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) that a person who recites Surah al Muzammil will not experience any worst situation or time. It is narrated by Imam Jafar as Sadiq (R.A) that a person who recites this Surah and asks for something from Allah, will get it.

Prophet Nuh (AS) was one of the prophets sent from Allah(SWT) and a whole surah, Surah Nuh, has been dedicated to him. Allah(SWT) has praised Nuh (AS) in Quran as

“Grateful Servant of Allah” and “True Messenger of Allah”

Now, as we talk about the story of Prophet Nuh (AS), there are many events that mark till the end of it.

As years went by, people on Earth were practicing idolatry. This act came into practice such that whenever one of the good people died, their statues were made to keep a remembrance and eventually; the coming generations began to worship them, by treating them as gods. They believed that these gods would bring them good, protect them from evil and fulfil all their needs. They gave their idols names such as Waadan, Nasran and so on. Originally these were the names of good people who had lived among them.

It was then, that Allah (SWT) sent Prophet Nuh (AS) to guide his people back on the right path of Allah. He was an excellent speaker and a very patient man. He used to point out to his people the mysteries of life and the wonders of the universe. Prophet Nuh (AS) repeatedly told his people not to worship anyone except Allah. He clarified to them how the devil had deceived them for so long and that the time had come for this deceit to stop. This continued for over 900 years of his life, preaching that there will be punishment of the Hellfire if they disobeyed. However, only the weak and poor people, including the labourers, believed him but not the rich. The rich ones, full of cold mistrust, bargained with the poor and told Prophet Nuh (AS) to back off from his motive. These disbelievers said:

" We do not see you but as a man like ourselves, and we do not see you followed except by those who are the lowest of us [and] at first suggestion. And we do not see in you over us any merit; rather, we think you are liars. (Surah Hud 13:27)

However, Prophet Nuh (AS) refused to give up and provided logical reasons. The disbelievers further argued and said:

" They said: "O Nuh (Noah)! You have disputed with us and much have you prolonged the dispute with us, now bring upon us what you threaten us with, if you are of the truthful." (Surah Hud 13:32)

The evolution of thought in philosophical poetry surfaces frequently, infrequently and unexpectedly in the lives of individuals. Yet in the case of Nazar Muhammad Rashid alias Noon Meem Rashid, it was continuous with no sign of intermittence by filling all his mental voids. A pioneer of free Urdu poetic verses (Azad Nazm), Rashid has remained an enduring favourite among Urdu poetry lovers all over the world. The manner in which he hued his poetry with modern Persian vocabulary is a manifestation of his flawless mastery over Urdu and Persian and this vocabulary appears in post-modern classical usages which are hitherto unobserved. Noon Meem Rashid is a very difficult poet to understand. Indeed, he avails himself of the language that is rich and adventurous. While delving into his poetry, one finds oneself in a stormy night. Rashid comes pouring down on the reader and soaks him in a blizzard of complex ideas. Rashid was born in Alipur Chattha, Gujranwala (then Akal Garh) in Punjab, British India on 1 August 1910.

About Hameed Shahid

March 23, 1957 in Pindi Gheb, in Punjab province, Pakistan. After his initial education from his native town PindiGheb (Attock, Punjab), he proceeded to University of Agriculture, Faisalabad, where he gained an honors degree in Horticulture, Agriculture. After graduating from UAF he joined Agriculture Development Bank of Pakistan (ADBP), now Zarai Taraqiat Bank Ltd (ZTBL) where he is Vice President at the moment and heading Recovery Policy Unit in Recovery Department. He did a banking diploma and joined number of courses on Banking operations, Business Management, Core Banking Application System, and Enterprise Recourses Planning etc. He attended different international conferences on Urdu literature.

Hameed Shahid first writing in Urdu was published in 1973 when he was student of Metric. He completed his first Urdu book Paiker-e-Jameel and handed over it to a publisher in 1980 when he was university student. As a student, he was editor-in-chief of University literary Magazine Kisht-e-Nau. Soon after appearing of his fiction writing in urdu Magazines like Auraq, Fanoon, Adbiat , Shubkhoon etc, his characteristic style matured and emerged as his identity. His first collection of Urdu Short Stories was ‘Band Ankhoon se Paray’. This was published in 1994, followed by ‘Jannum Jahunam’ in 1998, ‘Margzar’ in 2004 and ‘Aadmi’ in 2013. These lead to consolidating his reputation as one of the important contemporary writers of Urdu short story. His novel ‘Mitti Adam Khati Hae’ was published in 2007.
