Accredited by the Wound, Ostomy, and Continence Nurses Society since 1976, the WOC Nursing Education Program prepares the graduate nurse to provide specialty care for patients with acute and chronic wounds. This program is geared towards the nurse looking to obtain WOCNCB certification following the traditional pathway. The traditional pathway program is a blended education program. It is comprised of online clinical courses, onsite skills training (Bridge Week), a comprehensive final exam, and clinical with an approved preceptor. This podcast corresponds with the course video lectures and covers the topics below: - general skin care - prevention and management of pressure injuries - differential assessment and interventions for lower extremity ulcers, e.g. arterial, venous, and neuropathic - principles of wound debridement - appropriate and cost effective topical therapy - appropriate and cost effective utilization of support surfaces - systemic support for wound healing - diabetic foot care For more information on this program, please visit our website at www.wocnec.org.
